Buster’s Vision is a non-profit dedicated to provide the public with a positive, encouraging “ANIMAL EDUCATION”, promoting an awareness to protect the WELFARE OF ANIMALS, buyers, and respectable breeders and to develop higher standards of ethical business practice and conduct.
Buster’s Vision is a purpose driven organization with a dream to wipe out kill shelters and help save animals worldwide. We need to come together to destroy this horrific evil. Every animal has the right to life and does not deserve to sit on some cold cement slab ready to be put down because they were abandon. We can be angry about kill shelters, puppy mills, animal abuse and abandonment, but it is people that create the problems in the animal kingdom. People must be educated first before getting a pet. People need to be responsible and spay or neuter their pets. We need to get off the couch and support our local shelters and rescues. These are the best solutions left to reducing an over-populated animal society.  >Don’t Breed or Buy! While Shelter Pets Die! ADOPT, dont shop! SAVE A PET TODAY!!

Guest will be: Dahlia Canes – Director and Founder for the Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation

https://www.facebook.com/MiamiCoalition/timeline
http://www.unitedagainstbsl.org/

BSL stands for Breed Specific Legislation. It is a law or laws that ban or severely restrict the ownership of a particular breed. These laws declare an entire breed “dangerous or vicious” based on the actions of a few members of the breed. Breed specific laws are often a knee-jerk reaction from politicians who want to say they are “doing something” to stop dog bite incidents and fatalities. These changes in laws tend to happen after a highly publicized dog attack takes place. These highly publicized attacks bring about a “perceived” need for more stringent laws governing the restraint of dogs. We all want to prevent dog attacks; however, breed specific laws have proven to be ineffective in the reduction of dog bite incidents. Breed specific laws do not protect communities from fatal dog attacks and/or dog bite injuries.
“Breed Specific Legislation is an inhumane tool, used to deal with man’s destruction of their own fears. It targets innocent animals, that were not put on this earth to be judged by us.” – Dahlia Canes

MCABSL is a Miami based organization fighting for all the voiceless canines targeted by Breed Specific Legislation.

Our goal is to remove BSL from Miami Dade County and to continue fighting against similar legislation throughout our country. We believe in enforcing stronger laws that protect all dogs, no matter the breed. As we grow in members, we remain united and vow to win this battle and save the lives of those who love us unconditionally..

Take Action Against Breed Specific Legislation
Remember: If we do not stand UNITED, we will inevitably FALL.
Stand up AGAINST Breed Specific Legislation. End the HATE today.

Guest will be: Patrick Bohler aka Dogfather- Host on The Pit Bull Advocate on Blog Talk Radio weekly

This is the last show of 2015. I want to Thank all of the former guests, callers, and listeners for all of your support in 2015. Couldn’t do it without all of you.  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Awesome 2016.

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thepitbulladvocate

In September 2002, Patrick adopted his first Pit Bull. Doing what any dog owner should do, he researched the breed, immersing himself in history, and discovering myths and eventually, breed bias. Battles with property management at his workplace, having the full support of his bodss and co-workers, he won and was able to continue to bring this dog he had named Bean to work every day.

The following October he founded Sonoma County Residents Responsible About Pit Bulls (SCRRAP). In a press interview Patrick stated “We are a part social, and all advocacy group.” The goal was to get other Pit Bull owners together for meetups and walks. SCRRAP was able to help other owners with training and socializing, as well as assisting in finding homes for dogs the were in need.

In March of 2012, The Pit Bull Advocate online Blog Talk Radio show was launched. Using the name Dogfather because “It’s not about me… Being an Advocate. It was a way to draw attention to other Advocates and to rescue organizations without trying to just go out and make a name for myself. It’s about the dogs, and those who are on the front lines every single day fighting for their rights, and for what is right.

Guest will be: David Lynch – Humane Society of St. Lucie County/ Director of Marketing and Community Outreach

“Your Hometown Shelter”
Each year, we rescue, care for, or re-home almost 7,000 animals in our community. Our goal is always to provide immediate care for the animals under our roof and to create a better future for all of St. Lucie County’s animals. No animal is ever turned away !
Mission statement
The Humane Society of St. Lucie County is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing compassionate care and safe shelter for homeless animals and education to the community on responsible pet ownership.
Who we are
  • We are a nationally accredited 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation which depends upon the community, businesses and individuals for support
  • We have been in existence since 1956
  • Volunteers, a board of directors and 28 employees have accepted the challenge of caring for the nearly 10,000 animals we receive each year from the animal control agencies and residents of our county
  • We have contractual agreements with the three county municipalities: Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce and unincorporated St. Lucie County
  • We advocate responsible companion animal care and spaying and neutering
  • Education is an integral part of our Mission Statement
  • The Humane Society of St. Lucie County with the Florida Animal Friend Grant of $25,000 was able to perform 800 spay and neuter procedures for a low cost to pet owners in St. Lucie County.

HSSLC –Some upcoming events are Pet Pictures with Santa on Dec 5th and our biggest event of the year “The 12th Annual Fur Ball” which will be held on March 19th at the Pelican Yacht Club. We have just kicked off a Save Our Shelter campaign with a goal of raising $500,000 to help cover the costs of our fee-for-services contract being cut by the municipalities. Every year we take in six to seven thousand animals a year and adopt out close to 2,000. We perform roughly 3,400 spay/neuters at our low cost wellness clinic at our new Port St. Lucie Facility.

Guest will be:  Renee King-Sonnen/ Founder and Board Member of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary

Renee is born and raised in Houston, Texas and is the Founder of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary – she was a dyed in the wool city girl before moving to the Angleton TX Ranch in 2009. She fell in love with all the farm animals and had no idea that her life was about to be forever changed as a result of her husbands ranching business. After witnessing time and time again the baby calves going to the sale barn she became more and more depressed about the business. She drew the line in the sand October 2014, went vegan as a result and dove into researching every farm sanctuary. She contacted every leader in the vegan movement and was determined to do whatever she could to create sanctuary out of what once was a beef cattle ranch on their ranch.

Her background is broad:

  • Professional singer/songwriter/recording artist
    • Travelled extensively on the road with her own C&W band.

Guest will be: Midge Grinstead- Kansas Senior State Director – The Humane Society of the United States

There are three issues Midge Grinstead has worked on last legislated session: SB 97 was a bad bill allowing human contact with big cats 40 lbs and under and de-listing Clouded Leopards from the dangerous regulated animals act. Midge also worked on an exotic bill to add non-human primates and wolves to the dangerous regulated animals act (HB2737)

The other bill was brought forth from the Dept of Agriculture and updated the Kansas . Pet Animal Act including banning CO chambers, allowing shelters to do mobile adoptions and giving the rescue groups representation on the board as well as many other positive changes for animal welfare like having water available to all animals under the pet animal act. This bill was supported by the Kansas Pet Animal Coalition, large and small animal welfare groups, the Kansas Animal Control Association and many others.

http://www.humanesociety.org/

The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest animal protection organization, rated most effective by our peers. For 60 years, HSUS have celebrated the protection of all animals and confronted all forms of cruelty. HSUS is the nation’s largest provider of hands-on service for animals, caring for more than 100,000 animals each year, and HSUS prevent cruelty to millions more through our advocacy campaigns.

The HSUS is approved by the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance for all 20 standards for charity accountability, and was named by Worth Magazine as one of the 10 most fiscally responsible charities. To support The HSUS, please make a monthly donation, or give in another way. You can also volunteer for The HSUS, and see our 55 ways you can help animals.
