Glenn Beck: A phony exposed!

So you thought Glenn Beck was the “real deal”?  You thought his tearful rhetoric showed how deeply he was affected by all that was happening?

The Tea Party movement began as an across the board political gathering demanding less government, less spending and less intrusion into our lives.  Myself, and many other life-long Democrats attended these rally’s right up to the point that Glenn Beck, and the dull-witted Palin co-opted the movement, turning it into a far-right wing, religious zealotry movement.  What could have been great was reduced to the ridiculous.  Have a look at Glenn using Vicks to make his eyes tear up.

Mounting public rejection of “McCain the Candidate” after submitting S. 3081

Update from: Dan Scott re: S.3081 The Enemy Belligerent Act

__________________________________________

April 2nd, Rep. David Vitter a co-sponsor of McCain’s S.3081 legislation, after criticism from liberals and libertarians, withdrew his support. McCain currently is short one necessary co-sponsor. Prudently I must consider Vitter’s withdraw may have been done to (attenuate) mounting public rejection of “McCain the Candidate” resulting from Americans learning about McCain’s insidious legislation. Meanwhile S.3081 lays in wait. More

“Like it’s not bad enough. I’ve been hearing loons talk about secession up here my whole life. In Alaska, the three top ballot seats: President, Senate and House of Representatives, have candidates on the ballot from the secessionist Alaska Independent Party. In two of the three, the AIP holds at least 4% of the vote. The felonious Ted Stevens looks like he has convinced over a hundred thousand Alaskans what he couldn’t convince 12 jurors of a few weeks ago.

Now, Keith Olbermann has the temerity to ask if it’s too late to sell Alaska back to the Russians. Repeatedly. America’s liberal boy-wonder is breaking up with me. He’s not the only one suggesting putting Alaska up on eBay, but I can only handle one break up at a time. Consider this partner counseling; the circle of truth; the trust tree.*

I’m like many Alaskans, just not the one you’ve been forced to get to know lately. I know what newspapers I read. I know Africa is NOT a country. I know Stephen Harper is the Prime Minister of Canada, and I know he has T.V. perfect hair. I know who makes up NAFTA – which I thought was a crock when it passed. My favorite birthday present this year was the return of Habeas Corpus in a 5-4 US Supreme Court decision on June 12th.

I’ve never been to New York City, but I wanted to puke in my mouth watching the Republican National Convention’s “9/11 Tribute to Fear.” I wasn’t born in the 60’s, but I know what race baiting is. I know the public executions of JFK, Malcolm X, MLK, and RFK-all in a five year span-drove the American progressive movement into a coma for nearly 40 years. A once empowered, liberal generation sat like Terry Schiavo watching balloons float by; Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush I, Bush II. Wars, the corporate job-exporting economy, the perilous environment, expanded human rights violations, erosion of civil rights, The US Constitution compromised; none of it registered due to blunt force trauma on the American psyche.”

This is such a good article……please take the time to read it.  This authors’ sense of humor is refreshing, yet the article makes some very relevant observations.

The crying, whining and gnashing of teeth from the right…

Some days its just good to sit back and take it all in.  The Republican party, having imploded from within can’t decide whether to promote Sarah Palin to star status, or burn her at the stake for being a witch.  Personally, I would think option #2 is out as Ms. Palin has been officially de-witched by her pastor.

After the resounding defeat comprising all levels of government, suffered by the Republicans in this last election, someone with some grasp of reality should take control.  I don’t think its going to happen.  Apparently there is one faction still wanting to promote the party as the embodiment of fringe religious beliefs, and another faction that has realized this is no longer a sustainable premise.  Will rational thought and dialogue win out?  Or, will the wing-nuts retain control of what is now a fractured and dysfunctional party system?

I tell ya…. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of fools.  The Republican party defined itself with blowhards like Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity and the bloated egomaniac, O’Reilly.  To be sure there were other players who all spewed the same vitriole, the same misinformation, the same disinformation; all the while whining and crying about liberal bias from mainstream media.  The problem with these icons of Republican hypocrisy is that they are..hypocrits.  And that’s being kind.  Limbaugh is a known junkie, O’Reilly tries to be a womanizer, Hannity is just loonie and Coulter…..we aren’t even sure whether thats a Ms. or a Mr., in my opinion.  But these personalities along with others too numerous to mention were elevated to star status by those on the right, not because they had any truths to reveal; not because they were intellectually savvy or superior, but because they were for sale and would say or do the most horrendous things on behalf of Republicans.

While these media parasites babbled on incessantly about morality, family values, who loved God and who didn’t, several Republicans were caught with their pants down so to speak,…..and one was even caught in a bathroom doing things most of us don’t comprehend (and don’t want to) and we don’t know just where his pants were at the time.

For eight years or more we have been assailed by the right wing phobic, myopic, anti-everything crowd.  The lock-stepping Republicans, who claimed to be more patriotic, to be favored by God, to be the emodiment of morality and virtuosity, who were, by their very existence as Republicans, more moral and family oriented than those liberals they castigated with such regularity…..showed us what they really were; and it had little to do with values or morality or even love of country.  It was however, quite profitable for most of them, at the expense of everyday Americans now forced to suffer the long term affects of unmitigated greed, corruption and anti-American policies and actions.  And every step of the way they were facilitated by radio and TV hacks who would otherwise never have been taken seriously by anyone.

Hopefully, enough of us have moved away from hate radio and faux news of any kind.  As their audiences dwindle and the pool of recessive genes needed to keep them operational fades to a distant memory, we can only hope the Republican party reinvents itself, or that it dies a deserved death.

Of course if they want to rev up their [base] they could always declare Sarah Palin a witch and claim she put a curse on them….it would be just as believable as anything else they have told us.

Note to the GOP: Miscreants like Coulter and Limbaugh must go in order to save your party

We must with vigilance continue to monitor what the right-wing of the Republican Party has to say and the minions who spout their ignorant-crap for a lack of a better term to define it.

Yes, I am speaking of Ann Coulter after reading this article on Townhall.com. It was vile and lacked any substance and sustenance for these United States of America.  Coulter must wrap her brain (if she has one) around the fact that she and her ilk lost on Election Day and thank God for that.

If this past Election Day taught us anything is that America finally wanted and craved a high-minded intellectual residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  The world’s reaction to our new president to be was refreshing considering the fact how this present one has been mocked and ridiculed time-and-time again during these past eight years.

In this blistering defeat, those like Coulter are acting like petulant children who did not get their way and thank God they did not.  It is as if she is threw herself to the floor throwing a tantrum.  It is up to all of us to send her and others just like her to their corner for an extended time-out.

In calling Colin Powell a “loser” for his endorsement of President-elect, Barack Obama, it shows her lack of intellect.  This is exactly what Americans rejected in this past election.  We craved more than what the right-wing of the Republican Party was offering us.  Ann Coulter, must take a good look in the mirror to see exactly who the loser is at this moment in time.  But, she wont.  She will continue to angrily type at her key board and appear on any show that will have her so that she can to continue an old bellicose message filled with deceit.  My message to these shows is to consider Coulter persona-non-grata.  We have important issues to delve into and more importantly solve.

In his speech to the nation the other night, President-elect, Barack Obama even realized that the government cannot solve all of our problems.  This should be seen by the media as a golden opportunity and get back to what they are supposed to do and that is to inform people.  Instead of presenting miscreants like Coulter, present to the American people high-minded intellectuals that can help solve the problems we are all facing.

To the Republican Party if there is any lesson to be learned in all of this and for you to rebuild your party, you must replace minions like Coulter with high-minded intellectuals.  Yes, intelligence does matter.  This vitriol of hate is exactly why you went down in flames.  Quite frankly you offered the electorate nothing during the presidential campaign.

While most Americans huddled around their kitchen tables frightened to death on how to pay this bill or that, the right-wing of the Republican Party gave us Bill Ayers as cited in Coulter’s article.  Those gathered at that kitchen table gave the GOP their answer back by giving folks like Palin and Coulter a sound spanking.

In listening to several broadcast spots on MSNBC yesterday, they discussed who will be the leaders of the Republican Party and one name was floated and it was Mitt Romney.  I shuddered in total disbelief for this one reason.  At the Republican National convention he demonized liberals and did not give us one reason as to why we should elect any Republican let alone John McCain and Sarah Palin.

While the introduction of Sarah Palin at their convention gave them a boost in the polls, it was the defining moment that they were not about to delve into the issues.  After all, Rick Davis did say, “This election is not about the issues” No wonder they lost and it clearly showed to all of us that their campaign would be one of distractions and divisions.  Anyone thinking of running for office from the Republican Party should steer clear of Davis.

If the right-wing media such as Fox News is to learn anything, it can be found in these words, “The CEOs of cable news outlets and the mainstream media should begin the healing process by giving pink slips to all the hate-mongers they have on their payrolls.” They were expressed by Bill Corcoran in a letter to the editor at the Chicago Sun Times.  Corcoran through his blog has spoken out on so many critical issues pertinent to this republic.

To the Republican Party, one of the most important reasons why you lost on Election Day is this simple fact; you have relied too heavily on hateful messages and in fact insane messages coming from folks like Coulter and Limbaugh.  While their messages feeds the base their red-meat, for the rest of us, we were starving for any substantive campaign coming from John McCain and Sarah Palin.  Thankfully we were nourished by our new President-elect, Barack Obama and Vice President-elect, Joe Biden.

As some discuss whether or not Palin will be a viable and relevant candidate for the 2012 Republican ticket, we as Americans must not forget how she stoked the fires of hate and divisiveness in this campaign.  She became the domestic terrorist she claimed that President-elect, Barack Obama was and where her words could have had dire consequences to this republic.  We as a republic cannot go back to that darkened abyss, but move on.

Why the Elephant died…hopefully the end of the Republican party

Why the Elephant died

   160_cp_signs_0708191

I am writing you to announce the coming wake for the former Republican Party.  No flowers, please.  Most knew the end was coming, although some stubbornly clung on to the cesspool of viciousness, greed, contempt and unsavory characters that had come to characterize and symbolize, not the best in America, but the worst.  But, thankfully we are moving forward, leaving behind the worst president ever in our history and with him, the most anti-American political faction ever to have soiled the White House and our government.

There were thirty Republicans who did not seek re-election.  I have this theory that when the rats are fleeing the sinking ship we need to watch to see where they are going.  In this case, we already know why; all the catastrophic damage done to the country since the corruption of the 2000 election and the subsequent manipulation of the 2004 election is about to come apart.  Heads are going to roll and many of those taking flight are exercising the fine art of C.Y.A.. (Covering you’re a–) is an art that has been finely honed by the neo-con, anti-American faction of the Republican party.

But, there are those in the wreckage of the Republican party who still don’t get it; those who are today wondering why the wedge issues didn’t work, why the sickening and disgusting emails containing misleading or outright false information about Republican opponents didn’t scare everyone into voting the [right] way, according to the party line.  And of course, there are the hate radio personalities, the faux news personalities and other social outcasts who found their niche in this swamp of radical ideology that was the antithesis of America.  For those of you still clinging to this rotting corpse, don’t worry.  Anne Coulter (or is it Andy?) has written yet another of her/his baseless, pointless and stupid books that will be purchased in bulk by her/his rich friends to make it appear to be a best-seller.  (You’ll never actually meet anyone who has read even one of them)

The unspoken truth about why McCain didn’t succeed is this:   We are tired of being terrorized by our own government.  What we heard from the Republican campaign was four more years of Bush & Co.  Four more years of corruption of government, the constitution, our civil liberties, and four more years of created crisis’s to enable pre-planned end results, none of which benefited anyone but a few at the top while the rest of the country sunk further into recession.  But, ultimately, we are damned tired of having to fear our own government.

Palin, who was selected first because she was a woman, and second because she was attractive, was thought to be the end all, be all for the ticket.  She was supposed to be the ringer, the one who brought home the victory.  With their usual arrogance, the Republican party just assumed that all she had to do was to show up.  Unfortunately for them, even Republican voters could see this woman was not prepared, much less qualified, to hold the office of Vice President, and surely not a viable replacement for McCain should there be a need for her to step in.  The problems with Palin as a candidate are just too numerous to go into here.

In the end, it seems all the emails meant to degrade and humiliate Obama, calling him the anti-Christ, claiming he is a communist, a socialist a fascist….the emails highlighting his middle name Hussein, questioning his birth place, questioning his patriotism, all of the rancid and disgusting writings suggesting all sorts of sordid things speaks volumes about the demise of what was once a respectable party.  These circulating emails could only have appealed to the most uneducated and gullible in our population, and, these things highlighted the gross lack of integrity, of character, of morals by a party that tried to portray itself as being the epitome of these things and the party of “God”.  It is obvious the veil has lifted and America sees this party for the roiling mass of ugliness that it is.

I don’t know what’s ahead in an Obama administration.  What I do know is that I don’t have the sense of dread, of hopelessness I would have had, had McCain won.  The other thing I know is that I am, it seems, very conservative…..but I can’t be a part of the Republican party.   Considering the number of people who abandoned the Republican party in this election, many feel the same way.

The days of hate filled campaigns, filled with innuendo, mud-slinging, negative attack ads and vilifying and at times utterly destroying a person whose only sin was to run against you for the same office, are over.  The American people are tired of it, and quite frankly, we deserve more than misleading information or fear mongering.  And many of us are tired of the party of the elephant which has come to signify greed, corruption, secrecy and a total lack of morals or values.

May the elephant rest in peace…..somewhere else.

The US Presidential election.

Here’s a government hearing – never reported by the news media – that sums up the status of the security of the US voting system.

P.S. Don’t be too surprised in McCain and Palin “win”.

No matter how unlikely the outcome, the US news media stands ready to pump out a plausible “cover story” to explain the results.
