OPT out of REAL ID

I cannot begin to tell you how concerned I am at this overreaching on the part of our Government.  It is as if there were no Bill of Rights, indeed, no Constitution at all.

OPT MINNESOTA OUT OF THE FEDERAL REAL ID ACT SCHEDULED TO GO INTO EFFECT IN 2009.  MN NEEDS TO JOIN MONTANA, SOUTH CAROLINA, MAINE, GEORGIA, AND POSSIBLY NEW HAMPSHIRE IN OPPOSING THIS LAW.  OUR BASIC FREEDOM IS AT STAKE!!

The Real ID act requires all states to establish a federally directed driver’s license to include a laundry list of personal information in electronic form that will be shared across states.  Without the license, there will be no driving, no entry to public buildings, no flying – nothing the federal government cannot control.

The REAL ID act IS the monitoring of all US citizens creating a massive database of information on every citizen.  It has NOTHING to do with national security – (the new catch phrase used to cover every act the government implements to take away our rights) – it has everything to do with the illegal data mining done on legal, law-abiding citizens.  If national security were the real issue, our southern border would have been secured long ago.

By its own admission, the government can now spy on us online without us even knowing they are there, open and read our mail, enter our homes without a warrant, search and obtain records on medical, financial, employment, and even the books we check out from the library.  But now, suddenly, they can’t know who we are unless we subject ourselves to the REAL ID.  And WE can’t board a plane, get on a train, enter a Federal building, or even obtain our Social Security unless we submit to this invasion? Please do what you can to stop the REAL ID travesty of “homeland security.”

Sincerely,

Dan…..from Minnesota

Visit this site to locate info on how to get your dossier from HSD.  IF the documents you receive back from them are redacted, or otherwise void of information where information should be….guess what!!  You’re on a list!

Other sites which may be helpful in locating government dossiers and files that are being kept on you without your knowledge and for no other reason than your name may have popped up somewhere can be found on these additonal sites.

The FBI admit to keeping 6-10 files on each of the 20 million people that have been datamined and intends to continue to build the files until they reach an estimated 20 billion.

Remember this:  The same people who conduct torture, snitch and report, collect information, and assemble these files on innocent citizens are our neighbors, family and friends.  This is not being done by foreign terrorists or some mad man in a cave….this is being done by our own people for our rogue government.

This IS a War OF Terror.

www.treasury.gov/ofac    Go here and click on the left hand menu “designated lists”, when the new page comes up, enter your name in to the search and click go.  It will tell you immediately if you are on these lists.

Found on lists of all kinds are the names of children, babies, dead people, and the famous including senators and military personell.

SECURE FLIGHT/Invasion of your Rights

The Electronic Privacy Information Center (“EPIC”) has submitted a series of comments concerning traveler screening systems undertaken by federal entities. Earlier this month, we urged DHS to curtail the revised Automated Targeting System (“ATS”), a federal screening system that creates secret, terrorist ratings on tens of millions of American citizens.3

(Last year, EPIC led a coalition of 29 organizations and 16 privacyand technology experts that detailed significant privacy and security risk in ATS.4)  In February 2007, we explained that TSA’s “internal quality assurance procedures” were not working, and urged the agency to fully apply Privacy Act requirements of notice, access, and correction to the new traveler redress program called “TRIP” and its underlying watch list system.5

In May 2006, we recommended that Customs and Border Protection (“CBP”) substantially narrow the Privacy Act exemptions prior to the revision and expansion of the Global Enrollment System, a database full of individuals’ biometric and biographic data, which would be used to determine individual eligibility for the “Trusted Traveler”program.6

In December 2005, EPIC detailed privacy and security flaws in the Registered Traveler program and recommended DHS suspend the passenger prescreening program.7

II. WHAT IS SECURE FLIGHT?Under the Aviation and Transportation Security Act of 2002, the TransportationSecurity Administration was authorized to maintain watch lists of names of individualssuspected of posing “a risk of air piracy or terrorism or a threat to airline or passengersafety.”9 Documents obtained in 2002 by EPIC from TSA under the Freedom ofInformation Act established that the agency administers two lists: a “no fly” list and a“selectee” list.10 The airlines run passenger names against the watch lists. When a passenger checks in for a flight, he may be labeled a threat if his namematches an entry on one of the watch lists, even if he is not the person actually on the list.

Epic has compiled a pdf document that details the flaws and intrusions of Secure Flight.  Secure Flight is nothing more than data mining.  Under the guise of  Homeland Security, we have all become suspects by our own government.
