Duty to Warn

“Christian Fundamentalist Dominonist theocracy is hard to distinguish from  Islamic Fundamentalist Sharia law (which is condemned so vociferously by conservative Christians). Some call it Christofascism.”

Duty to Warn

“I have always thought that there is no evil harsher or more ruinous than war. War is the source from which bubbles forth that loathsome, filthy mixture of criminal men: robbers, rapists, pimps, brigands, pirates, thieves, assassins, poisoners, rogues, embezzlers, cattle-rustlers, agitators, traitors, temple-robbers, perjurors, blasphemers, and also prostitutes, whores, and bawds. My voice would give out faster than I could even recount the names of the monsters which are the spawn of war.Erasmus, a Dutch Christian humanist (1466-1536)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m not one to recite a joke or a funny story. I don’t have the knack. But once upon a time I actually remembered – and then successfully told – a tale that had a moral to it. It was a take-off of the moral in the title above and I recalled it when the Paris terror was announced. The story went something like this, with some embellishments in the story that are more applicable to the times:
Once upon a time there was a tribal king in a backward African nation that was so poor that most people lived in grass houses. Even the well-fed king (who had acquired his throne by ill-gotten, military means) and his fattened wives and concubines lived in a grass house that was larger and fancier than the houses of any of his subjects. It even had a second story.  Like most greedy tin-pot military dictators, he liked to wear his glittery military uniform (that had a sash and many multi-colored ribbons on it) and a prominently displayed flag pin whenever he appeared in public.
Also like most power-hungry political and military higher-ups throughout the sad world history of militarism, colonialism, imperialism and fascism, he felt that it was important to acquire more and more wealth and power and show it off to his subjects.
Fighting a seemingly endless war with a rival kingdom, the king eventually acquired technologically superior weaponry and emerged victorious. It had been a bloody war, with many episodes of civilian “collateral damage”, friendly fire deaths, eye-for-an-eye reprisals and the poisoning – from military toxins – of the soil, water and air of both kingdoms. King One’s army finally overran King Two’s army, raped his women, took control of his oil fields and confiscated the impressive throne that King One had always coveted.
After the armistice was signed, King One’s soldiers replaced the old throne with the captured one and had his soldiers carry it into the second story storage room, along with some of the other spoils of war. As the king, his cabinet and the Joint Chiefs of Staff were celebrating their victory, the old throne, along with many other prizes of war, crashed down and killed them all, along with many innocent bystanders. Debunking the Myth of American Exceptionalism
Duty to Warn
The myth of American Exceptionalism is widely, but perhaps insincerely, believed by most American thought-leaders and political and economic elites, whether they are radical Republican Party members/voters or are members/voters of the moderate “Republican” wing of the Democratic Party.
Members of the democratic wing of the Democratic Party and anybody that espouses Green Party values (whether they are registered members or not) are skeptical of the mass media’s constant reportage on American Exceptionalism.
Oh, America is certainly an exceptional nation, all right, but the reality is that most of the evidence of exceptionalism should be sources of sorrow, shame and embarrassment. All American patriots, including the pseudo-patriots who espouse the classical fascist/nationalist notion of “My nation, right or wrong”, should be on their knees repenting of what America has done on behalf of that misbegotten belief, starting with the “patriotic” genocidal massacres of the aboriginal Native Americans, the quasi-genocide of America’s African slaves, the Monroe Doctrine and Manifest Destiny.
Take the fact that America leads the world in the percentage – and total numbers – of its citizens that are incarcerated (and that includes the statistics from such previously totalitarian communist nations (and now newly capitalist) such as  the USSR, Russia and China).
priosn map
America is – embarrassingly so – exceptional in one major area. It leads the world in military expenditures, spending approximately the same amount that the rest of the world combined spends, despite the fact that there are no nations that have the naval, air or land combat capabilities that could repel or withstand even a single day of full-fledged American military assault (for which the Pentagon probably already has contingency plans). Every American Special Forces soldier knows in his heart of hearts that, compared to his highly lethal, highly trained killing unit, Nazi Germany’s Wehrmacht soldiers and Luftwaffe airmen were pussies.
Exceptional America, With 5% of the World’s Population, Spends more on Militarism Than the Rest of the World Combined
America’s political elites represent only 5% of the world’s population, and yet, because of the Myth of American Exceptionalism, they act like they deserve to rule the world. If the truth were to be told, American politicians are often the laughingstock of the rest of the developed world because of their obvious historical illiteracy and their moral imbecility. Showing no humility or self-understanding, most self-deluded, bullying political candidates (watch any GOP presidential debate for proof) still believe that, because of America’s military and economic power, Americans are somehow exceptional. (These over-privileged millionaire candidates were, as the old saying goes, “born on third base and think that they just hit a triple”.) More
Urgent (Unlearned) Lessons From MLK: Pointing out the Stupidity of America’s Militarist, Pro-Fascist, Anti-Democracy, Interventionist Foreign Policy
(An Excerpt from MLK’s 1967 “Beyond Vietnam” Speech)
Each day the war goes on the hatred increases … The Americans are 000-1013161725forcing even their friends into becoming their enemies. It is curious that the Americans, who calculate so carefully on the possibilities of military victory, do not realize that in the process they are incurring deep psychological and political defeat. The image of America will never again be the image of revolution, freedom, and democracy, but the image of violence and militarism” – Unnamed Buddhist monk 1967
This week anti-racist Americans honor Martin Luther King (and racist Americans sneer at) and his heroic pioneering efforts to achieve liberation for African-Americans from their second-hand citizenry. Next month, during Black History Month there will be opportunities to learn more about African-American history from slavery up to the present day. According to his most famous and most censored-out speech (excerpt below, which turned out to be his death warrant), Dr King gave his listeners an important history lesson about the folly of colonialism and militarist, interventionist foreign policies that eventually and inevitably see “the chickens coming home to roost”.
The lessons that King tried to teach us explained why our nation (not to mention France and Britain and other murderous white Christian colonizers throughout the history of the world like Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Russia, Germany, Italy, etc), are constantly provoking mortal enmity among the billions of disrespected victims in every region of the world where our corporate resource extractors have landed the troops and propagandists to make the world “safe for predatory capitalism”. Sobering Truths About America’s Imperialist Crimes Against Humanity
“We have brought torture, cluster bombs, depleted uranium, innumerable acts of random murder, misery, degradation and death to the Iraqi people and call it ‘bringing freedom and democracy to the Middle East’. – Harold Pinter
_____________________________________________________
10150533_736557003032115_475730777_nBritish playwright Harold Pinter won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2005. His powerful acceptance speech exposed the United States for its fascist, imperialist policies since World War II. His speech (delivered three years before he died in 2008) was an important glimpse into – and a reasonable summary of — the innumerable documentable US imperialistic crimes that have been secretly facilitated by our multinational corporations, our national security apparatus, our military leaders, our wealthy elites and the craven politicians who are beholden to those four realities that have shaped American foreign policy over the past 60 years.
True American patriots, if they really love the United States, must be honest about the dishonorable, dark side of their nation’s history, a history that the rest of the world, especially Pinter, sees so clearly. Understanding that history will clear up any mystery about why the rest of the world fears and hates us. More
What Did You do During the Dirty Wars, Daddy?
“Most German Christians saw no contradiction between the demands of Jesus’ gospel ethic of love, mercy and forgiveness and the ruthless and cruel “gods” of war and wealth – and their pastors didn’t either.”
“What Did You Do During The War, Daddy?” was the title of a wonderful but sobering book written by Sabine Reichel. Reichel was born in 1946 to Nazi collaborator parents in bombed-out Hamburg, Germany in 1946. Her parents had been upper class citizens prior to the war and they managed to maintain their respectability after the war. Her mother and father, like so many other obedient “good” Germans of the Nazi-era never talked to their child about what they had done during the Hitler years. The unwelcome truth only came out much later, during Reichel’s early adult years. The book details her experiences in trying to obtain the answers to the book’s title question.
“What did you do during the war, daddy” has been a dreaded question for many soldier-fathers (as well as for some civilian parents) who collaborated (actively or passively) with warmongers in times of war, and 10003953_10152109057028863_611290400_nwho then discovered, too late, that they had been on the ethically wrong side of what turned out to be an unjust war – a war that might have been contrary to what they had been told, a war of aggression or corporate resource exploitation and therefore a war that was an international war crime, a crime against humanity or a crime against the peace.
And whether or not they had been deceived by their corporate-controlled governments and media outlets (shadow or otherwise) about the realities of those wars, any parent will dread being asked probing questions such as these: More
Duty to Warn: Don’t Vote for Your Future Oppressors
Don’t Vote for Your Future Oppressors
(Especially the Ones That have Been Bought or Bribed by Billionaires and Multinational Corporations)
“What Christians have got to do is take back this country, one precinct at a time, one neighborhood at a time and one state at a time. I honestly believe that in my lifetime, we will see a country once again governed by Christians…and Christian values.” “I want to be invisible. I do guerrilla warfare. I paint my face and travel at night. You don’t know it’s over until you’re in a body bag. You don’t know until election night.” Ralph Reed (R- Christian Coalition executive director 1987-1989)
There are two important national elections coming up in the next two years and the corporate-owned and controlled mainstream media (MSM) is again orchestrating another series of lucrative “too-close-to-call”, “cliff-hanger” elections designed to sell the maximum number of political commercials (“projected non-competitive” landslide elections don’t make as much money for the press).
In the heat of the campaigns, we mis-informed and oft-deceived voters must be careful lest we blindly allow our future oppressors – or their paymasters – to win at the polls. Unfortunately, history tells us that it happens all the time. But this year an informed electorate (that makes possible a true democracy) is more important than it has been in many past elections.
