What Small Business Wants

The most egregious of their useless proposals revolve around the current the tax debate — whether to include the top 2 percent in reversing the Bush tax cuts. The sanctimonious claim is “this would hurt small business” — and this suggestion is incredibly wrong and even detrimental.

What small business really wants (it’s not what all those senators claim)
By Myles Spicer | Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010
Recently on TV there was a rerun of a popular movie produced in 2000: “What Women Want,” starring Mel Gibson and Helen Hunt. Very briefly, Gibson has “shocking” experience (literally) and is able to get into the “heads” of women and read their thoughts. Not a great move, but high grossing and of interest to me because it involved an advertising agency — my core profession for over 40 years.

It also coincided with the continuing claims by many members of Congress about what needs to be done to assist small business, who will be the drivers of our economy to get us out of this funk. Frankly their comments are inane, fictional, silly and inept. Why? Because virtually none of them really knows the dynamics of small-business challenges, and consequently do not or cannot get “into the heads” of true small-business people. Frankly, their statements are politically based, and have little to do with reality or an intelligent analytical basis of small business needs. More

Confiscation of Private Retirement Accounts: US Departments of Labor and Treasury Schedule Hearing

09 06 10 Confiscation of Private Retirement Accounts

By Patrick A. Heller on September 1st, 2010

“The US government plan is to eventually take ownership of all assets in IRAs and 401K accounts and replace them with US government “Treasury Retirement Bonds

On August 26, the US Department of Labor issued a news release:

It lists the agenda for the joint hearings being held with the Department of Treasury September 14-15, 2010 on what is euphemistically called “lifetime income options for retirement plans.”  The hearings are being conducted by the Labor Department’s Employee Benefits Security Administration. I don’t like speaking in tabloid-style terms, but the unstated agenda of these hearings, as I understand it, is to push for the US government to eventually nationalize (confiscate) all assets in private Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) and 401K plans!

The US government is desperate to get its hands on private assets to help cover soaring budget deficits and debts, and this is simply the largest and easiest piggy bank that could be seized.  The Investment Company Institute estimates that at the end of 2008 that there were $3.613 trillion of assets in IRAs and $2.350 trillion of assets in 401K plans.

For more than the past ten years, I have warned readers that the US government was eventually going to go after private retirement accounts. Considered that as the most important reason to avoid establishing precious metals IRAs.  Very few other writers (Ron Holland being one) have picked up on this issue as early as I did.  In fact, the mainstream media pretty much ignored the subject even after a House Committee held hearings on the issue in October 2008. Obviously, an outright seizure of assets would meet stiff resistance from the public.  So the confiscation will never be described as such by government officials.  Expect to see terms such as “retirement income protection” thrown around.  It is highly likely that such a program would be implemented in steps to help overcome public opposition. Are Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and Joe Lieberman all as insane as they look and sound?

In case you have not yet been alerted, the above gang of pretended public servants are either truly insane, or they are working for some source other than that from which they draw their constitutional power.

But then again, the lawmakers in congress who heed Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence – that our government should rule “with the consent of the governed” – are so few as to nullify the good and wise intentions of our founding fathers. May God help us

It is the democratic leadership (of Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Lieberman, Frank, and many others) that remains steadfast in its support of the draconian healthcare deformity, known as Obamacare, while recent polls show only 34 percent of those polled still supported the Healthcare “Reform” Act.

Requiring Americans and small businessmen to bear the cost of buying into the expensive, corporate health “care” plans of the Monetary Cartel’s mega-insurance giants, and into the ever-sliding quality of American medicine, all under the pain of huge fines and prison time, does not sit well with most informed Americans and could be the death knell for the American small business sector, and our middle class as well.  More
