Join us this evening as Lisa Belanger joins the show to talk about the Netflix series “Dirty Money-#5” Guardians Inc. This episode features Lisa and exposes the ongoing targeting, isolation, and theft of estates from vulnerable seniors and the disabled.
Guardianship has become nothing more than a government sanctioned and facilitated system of human trafficking for profit. One of the most insidious parts of this disgusting system is the forcing of the victim to pay all of the expenses of those involved in the predatory guardianship. Doing so makes the theft of estates so much easier and more efficient.
Estates are stolen, homes are sold, trusts are broken into, wills are discarded, bank accounts raided, and personal items and family memorabilia are disposed of. Everything that defined that elder’s life is wiped out, thrown away, discarded. They have been effectively erased.
While we are encouraged to regard lawyers, doctors, guardians, attorney’s and others as somehow deserving of respect, this issue has clearly exposed the fact that many of these people are the worst among us. For those in any one of these professions who have enough integrity, sense of honor and morals, attempting to defend a victim from these predators can be career suicide.
As despicable as many of these professionals are, that individual sitting on the bench is the worst of them all. Everything revolves around the cooperation of this individual to make sure the system runs smoothly.

There is no Constitutional provision for negating of law into unlawful or illegal statutes.
The only possible way to rectify this assault on the elderly and other vulnerable men and women who have been declared to have suffered a civil death at the hands of these civil tribunals, is to abolish them altogether.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The elderly in Minnesota, as they are across the country, have been, and are, being targeted for exploitation by professional, for-profit guardians. Guardianship has been described as the fastest growing cottage industry in the country. The trafficking of the elderly through the probate system has allowed the theft of estates and the accompanying isolation and abuse of the targeted individual. As a result, the greatest transfer of wealth in this country, is not from the rich to the poor, but rather, from the elderly to professional predators who game this system for profit. It is aledged that 5-10 billion is stolen annually from the elderly by these predators. Generational wealth in the form of inheritance is being stolen from intended heirs.
Minnesota government at all levels has allowed a predatory, for profit system to flourish and, has even colluded with those who profit from the trafficking through a civil tribunal system in order to facilitate the kidnapping, isolation and financial exploitation of the elderly, the disabled and other vulnerable men and women. Allegedly, many of our legislators are connected through business associations to the most virulent of these predators. The business of trafficking the elderly for profit has become so lucrative that large fiduciary corporations who profit from this activity have sprung up across the state.
Probate “courts” are civil tribunals; they are not courts of law, nor are they courts of record. Probate was to become active only upon presentation of the death certificate, and then only to determine if the estate was testate or intestate. (With a will, or without one) The only duty of probate was to determine the distribution of assets to the appropriate heirs. The probate examiner was to have only one clear purpose; fact finding. This was extended to include guardianship and conservator ship of the living man or woman. As it is used today, either of these acts against the living man or woman, causes the civil death of that man or woman. The granting of guardianship petitions is the de facto death certificate.
Original jurisdiction in law and equity for the administration of the estates of deceased persons and all guardianship and incompetency proceedings, including jurisdiction over the administration of trust estates and for the determination of taxes contingent upon death, shall be provided by law. For almost 30 years, tens of thousands of Michigan’s elderly and developmentally disabled citizens have been subjected to neglect, abuse, torture, forced isolation, exploitation and embezzlement by the state’s probate judges and attorneys, professional guardianship companies and public administrators.
Declared incapacitated “wards” by a probate court judge, with little or no corroborating medical evidence, Michigan’s most vulnerable are stripped of their statutory, civil, constitutional. and human rights and handed over to a court appointed guardian.
Even though wards are innocent, it is a life sentence during which they are forced from their homes and into a long-term nursing care, assisted living or unlicensed group home with subhuman living conditions.
In as little as a year, wards have been rendered completely indigent and reliant upon social services and benefits such as Medicaid. Their homes are sold off, their savings accounts, IRAs, investment accounts, cars, personal belongings, keepsakes, heirlooms and jewelry stolen.
Recent media investigations have implicated guardians and judges in the forced separation of families and isolation of the vulnerable; massive over-abolishing [robate,billing real estate fraud; and missing assets that number in the millions of dollars.
An in-depth investigation into elder abuse at the Detroit-area Oakland County Probate Court found campaign ties between Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Oakland County Probate Court Chief Judge Kathleen Ryan.
Nessel’s Elder Abuse Task Force has accomplished nothing.
We, the undersigned, demand that the abuse, neglect and exploitation Michigan’s elderly and developmentally disabled individuals by the state’s probate courts must stop!
We demand criminal investigations into any and all probate attorneys, public administrators, guardianship companies and judges suspected of criminal behavior and abuse of power.
We demand investigations not initiatives.
We demand the immediate resignation of the State Court Administrator.
We demand an explanation as to why no action has been taken against judges or their appointees who have donated to or accepted donations from the Nessel and Whitmer campaigns.
Tonight, Patricia & Robert Femia join us to talk about the downstream effects of predatory guardianships. Patricia’s mother, captured and isolated from her family, soon succumbed to the psychological torture inflicted upon her. In a classic case of trauma based bonding, she rejected all ties to her daughter and her family. Instead, she identified with her captors. In what was a clear case of the Stockholm Syndrome, and the effects on the family as this unfolded were staggering.
“This horrific ordeal has left me and my family completely heart-broken. My mother was taken care of and had her daughter and son-in-law and grandchildren living closely around her every day. She lived comfortably, was healthy and had her independence for many years. Once this whole scenario unfolded,she died all alone in a nursing home.”
Tune in as Patricia and Robert tell how they managed to survive this attack on their family, and where are they today in managing the damage.
The Devil Lives in Virginia: The Conspiracy that Killed Anastasia Adams – by Yolanda Adams-Bell
“The devil is the personification of evil as it is conceived in many and various cultures and religious traditions. It is seen as the objectification of a hostile and destructive force.”
-Wikipedia
The Devil Lives in Virginia chronicles the story of Anastasia Adams’ nine-month ordeal from her abduction to her murder from the viewpoint of her family. It is a story of a family’s desperate fight and struggle to free Anastasia from a system (and its predatory guardianship) that was created to help individuals like her but instead abandoned her to nine months of untold pain and suffering. It is a story of massive obstruction, the powerful and morally bankrupt preying on the weak and those that protect them from accountability. It is a story of public apathy and indifference to the abuse, neglect and torture that is right under their noses and within their line of sight. It is the ultimate commentary on the attitude “if it doesn’t affect me it does not matter, it does not exist”. It is a story of lives – countless lives lost, but most importantly it is a story of two sisters, a bond that only sisters share, and their love for one another.
In 2005 Yolanda became her sister Anastasia’s sole caregiver after she suffered a brain injury. On February 15, 2017 after being hospitalized for pneumonia and developing fluid around her heart and a hospital born infection Yolanda’s sister Anastasia was abducted by Inova Fairfax Hospital, a well-known and major level one trauma center in the Washington, D.C. suburbs of Northern Virginia, through a legally questionable guardianship. While in the custody of Inova’s contracted guardians Anastasia allegedly suffered horrendous neglect and abuse. When Yolanda blew the whistle on what Inova, their guardians, and the Fairfax County Circuit Court, were doing the guardians isolated and then allegedly killed her sister. Nine months after abducting Anastasia the guardians ended her life through dehydration and starvation. After 6 days without food or water, doped up on the opiates Fentanyl, Morphine, and other sedating medications Anastasia succumbed and died on November 16, 2017. Due to the guardians severe restrictions on visitation for Anastasia she died alone, without family or clergy there to comfort her.
Yolanda is now focused on ensuring what happened to her much beloved sister never happens to anyone else because elderly and disabled lives matter.
The admission sounded like something out of “Logan’s Run” or other dystopian sci-fi movie, not an explanation one would expect to hear from legal associates. Nancy Scott and others who joined her in a peaceful prayer vigil for her mother’s life on Tuesday, August 20, were stunned when representatives from the court-appointed guardian’s office explained that the reason that retired Alabama schoolteacher Marian Leonard was on hospice was because she was old.
According to Medicare.gov, hospice care is supposed to be for people who are certified by a hospice doctor and the patient’s regular doctor that they are terminally ill with a “life expectancy of 6 months or less.” Hospice care is palliative, or “comfort” care, rather than curative care, and it is supposed to be a choice that the patient makes, not a decision thrust upon them without their consent.
That is not what has happened with Marian Leonard. When the state seized guardianship of Mrs. Leonard in February 2018 at the request of St. Vincent’s Hospital and the Department of Human Resources (DHR), she was forced into a nursing home, Diversicare of Riverchase, and forced onto hospice care, against her will and that of her designated Power of Attorney, her daughter Nancy Scott. How bad does the guardian-for-profit system have to become before we stop this protected racket of human trafficking of the elderly by these predatory vultures? The very idea that anyone has to flee this country to escape being trafficked in this system is unthinkable.
Join us this evening as former Minnesota resident Joanne Bougalis, tells of her mother’s capture by a professional guardian and the subsequent deterioration in her mothers’, Katherine Bougalis, health and psychological conditions that resulted from being unnecessarily institutionalized, by the guardian, and forcibly drugged with Ativan and Seroquel. After several attempts to free her mother from the guardianship which were of course rejected by the court which appears to be the protection arm of this dirty business, Joanne and her mother fled the country and are living safely and happily in Greece. Katherine’s assets which were sizable are steadily being accessed by profiteers even as she is denied any access to those same assets. While still living in Minnesota a hearing for Katherine was scheduled. She was also made unavailable for her own hearing by the guardian after a doctor’s appointment was scheduled conveniently for the same time as the hearing.
Fleeing America
The guardian has been made aware in writing three years in a row where his ward is located. He continues to fraudulently report her missing and her whereabouts unknown in his annual reports. He ignores requests to step down claiming his position is supported by the Judge. He was notified both by Katherine’s son and by Social Security of her whereabouts. He took specific steps to delay her social security, and took no steps to provide living and medical expenses for his ward, although it appears from reports the guardian is still paying (someone’s) medical expenses.
Having been stripped of all her rights, via the designation of “ward” of the state and suffering a “civil death”, could Katherine now be viewed as escaped human property? Apparently so! As her owner of record continues to bill her estate each year!
Rebecca Wright will be talking about the documentary and how it exposed this corrupt system of guardianship. Produced by Laura Checkoway, the documentary revealed the devastating effects of the system of guardianship. Treated like property, no regard is given to the crushing pain and devastation that results from tearing people away from those they love and who love them.
When they took Edith away, they promised Eddie she would be back in two weeks. Separated from his precious Edith, Eddie collapsed when he realized she would not be coming home as promised. Please tune in to hear how this all ended, and what happened to Edith after Eddie’s death.
The recent passing of Dorothy Luck, will be sad news for the many people she worked to help free from this human trafficking of the elderly. Having freed herself from one of these so called guardianships, Dorothy spent the remainder of her time on earth helping to try and reform this insidious system. She was described by those close to her as “a true advocate and wonderful friend”.
Dorothy traveled many times to the Texas State Capital and worked with many advocates for guardianship reforms. She never feared those who forced her into this injustice and she accomplished freeing herself from those who used her for her wealth. Her guardianship was closed and her rights were restored. She accomplished this by exposing what Guardianship was truly about, money, as it was much better protected than she was, yet many court appointees profited from her wealth. She tells it like it is in the story below.
Imagine losing control of the most basic decisions in your life: the right to speak for yourself, how to spend your money or even what medicines you should be taking. Dorothy Luck was in a dispute with family over trust money. After a court-ordered medical exam, she was declared incompetent to make big financial decisions and ended up a ward of the state. In this excerpt from America Tonight, Sheila MacVicar investigates shocking cases of elderly Americans at the mercy of court-appointed guardians.
Thank you Dorothy for all your dedication and efforts on behalf of others. You will be dearly missed!
“How does an individual become so detached from humanity, so lacking in compassion or empathy, so devoid of ethics or morality, that preying on other human beings without regard to the harm and suffering you are causing, become just part of your daily work? All of it done so that you could avail yourself of someone elses assets? How do you disconnect yourself so totally from the insidious activity you have involved yourself in so as to allow yourself to prey on what you now see as a simply a “thing”, a commodity?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have the ”War on Poverty”, the “War on Drugs”, and the wars against other sovereign nations that have posed no threat to us. There is also apparently a well-funded and facilitated “War on the Elderly”. As our politicians openly promote, or actively avoid the insidious programs designed to deprive elderly individuals of their identity, property and their rights, to enable the theft of estates. The result is thousands of elderly individuals are captured, isolated, abused and robbed every day of the week. It’s all perfectly “legal”. The elderly have been targeted as have been the disabled, as being an economic threat to the rest of the country. A newly defined “waste population” that must be eradicated because they can no longer produce and now are expecting their investment in Social Security and Medicare to begin the promised return on their investment.
While claiming that guardianship is to protect the vulnerable, that the elderly will be treated as ”protected” individuals, it clearly is nothing more than a system of monetizing and treating the elderly and disabled as chattel…owned movable property that can be sold, traded or otherwise disposed of at the whim of the guardians and the probate system. All of it done for no other reason than to steal the estates of those targeted. This can include real property, liquid assets, personal items of value, art work, family heirlooms, trusts, and any other thing you might have of value.
It is unfortunate that these professional predators see no value in human life; a trait that puts them into a class of a recognized sociopath. The entire system is populated by unethical attorneys willing to prey on the elderly for no other reason than access to the assets they may have, and predatory guardians who have been provided the protection in this system of human trafficking facilitated by the probate tribunals. All of it done without regard to the suffering they are causing to the individual or by extension to the family and friends who are forced to endure this criminal activity and are blocked by the tribunal from accessing courts of law and rescuing the victim. All of it to access the proceeds of someone elses life: to profit by targeting, capturing, isolating and robbing an elderly individual because stealing someone else’s identity and their estates is far easier than working for a living. This preview of the documentary “The Economic Rape of America: Exposing America’s Secret Wealth Exchanges” reveals the economic impact of destruction to America’s families and economy as a result of probate courts and frivolous litigation. The wealth exchanges in probate courts are greater than the wealth exchanges on Wall Street. Additionally, $1.5 billion dollars a year goes for attorney fees at the expense of America’s families. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, America’s litigation addiction costs our economy $264 billion dollars per year making America unable to compete globally. This documentary is a must see for all Americans. America must demand probate reform so that the pillaging of estates by lawyers and non beneficiaries ends. America must wake up and demand better watch dogging of the judicial system which allows for an unfettered abuse of power. The Monterey County Public Guardian seized control of San Francisco resident Margarita Zelada and her estate. Since March 3013, Margarita has been unlawfully confined in Monterey County, forcibly isolated, and denied nearly all contact with loved ones and advocates.
The Public Guardian allows Margarita no contact with her daughter, occasional brief contact with her niece in Texas, no contact with elder rights advocates, and no contact with legal counsel of her choice. The Public Guardian denies Margarita her right to attend court hearings on her case and denies her right to oppose the abuse she has suffered.
On January 29, 2014, the Monterey County Probate Court will review Margarita’s case and hear the Public Guardian’s petition for authority to forcibly administer chemical restraint. Niece Bonnie Lind repeatedly asked that Margarita be allowed to attend the hearing on her case and be allowed her right to oppose forced chemical restraint.

_______________________________________________________________
As human beings, we live in a world of relationships. There are, of course, hundreds or even thousands of relationships we can name to describe how one person relates to another: parent-child; employer-employee; landlord-tenant.
Relationships take place within the context of a situation – in other words, how one person is situated in regard to another person, as we compare their roles, their rights, their power and obligations – legal, moral and otherwise. For example, the parent-child relationship takes place within the context of the Family or Familial relationship. Bosses and workers relate to each other in the contact of an Employment relationship. Landlords and tenants are acquainted over the matter of property usage. And as mentioned, rights and obligations and powers are assigned to each of the participants by our society’s laws and traditions.
Two other situations in which human beings “relate” to each other – one, thankfully, is largely historic and passé in terms of its place in society. The other is – perhaps unfortunately – very modern and quietly, even at times insidiously prevalent in society.
The first situation is a word we are all familiar with – “slavery”. The relationship is that of master-to-slave. The second situation is something modern mechanisms of law calls “guardianship,” and the relationship there is Guardian-to-Ward, or sometimes Trustee-to-Trustor.
I looked-up both words in Black’s Law Dictionary. That reference book describes “slavery” as a situation – a relationship between human beings – in which one person has absolute power and control over the property, the fortunes, and even the life of another person, at the Master’s discretion, for the Master’s pleasure or benefit, and with all the rights and powers in the hands of the Master to do as he pleases. You could be the victim of human trafficking under the control of a “guardianship or conservator“. Did you work hard all your life? Did you save and invest? Did you live below your means and pay off your home or property? Were you prepared for your senior years by constructing a will? Designating heirs and the person who was to administer your estate once you had passed on? Well congratulations! Thanks to all your hard work, planning and saving, you too could become the victim of the human trafficking rings operating across the country!
Disabled? Vulnerable adult? They have you in their sights too! You could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars just in inflated institutional billing, billing for non-existent services, pharmacological testing, for doctor services never rendered, for rehabilitation services never supplied. It happens every day and not one of our elected officials will even acknowledge what they know to be true.
Human trafficking is a world wide business and encompasses children, women and vulnerable or aging adults. These individuals are used for sex and/or for profit. Here in the US, a system of corrupt probate courts, predatory guardians who are strangers to the family and victim, attorneys who make their living preying on targeted individuals, operates with what is an apparent protection provided not only by state officials, but also federal officials. Hearing: “Protecting Seniors and Persons with Disabilities – An Examination of Court – Appointed Guardians”
Testimony on Elder Abuse of Carol Hahn in San Bernardino County, CA
My mother, Carol Hahn, is a victim of elder abuse. That abuse was initiated by Mindy Martin, who lied to investigating deputies and perjured herself in court documents to become my mother’s temporary conservator. More than a year later, Mindy Martin is still temporary conservator, and the abuse continues. My mother’s court appointed attorney, Mark Flory, has actively facilitated the abuse. Neither individual has been held accountable.
The existing “system” has utterly and completely failed to protect my mother or come to her aid. Rather, law enforcement concealed evidence and threatened family members. Adult Protective Services and the Long-Term Care Ombudsman will not return our phone calls. Programs and agencies are useless when there is no accountability. Laws are useless when they are not enforced. Additional laws and agencies will be equally useless unless a system of accountability is established. More

Guardianship abuse has reached the level of a national epidemic. Those whose family members have been abused by a guardian quickly find that there is often no legal redress. The Guardianship Shield program is designed to actívate a national network of human rights members who will take constructive action to protect the vulnerable person.
The Guardianship Shield is a proactive, grassroots program which issues human rights alerts concerning individuals at risk for problematic or coercive guardianship practices. These alerts go out to all the GS members and to human rights groups. The GS members agree to contact the parties and institutions involved in initiating the actions in question and advise these parties of their concerns. The GS members also agree to contact local media in an effort to raise public awareness of specific incidents of guardianship abuse.
