Top Advocacy Organizations Partner to Represent Whistleblowers Protect the Election

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Democracy Protection Initiative helps whistleblowers disclose the truth to protect the election

WASHINGTON – Today, Government Accountability Project is joined by American Constitution Society, American Oversight, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, Georgetown Law’s Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection, Protect Democracy, Public Citizen, We The Action, and 18 other nonpartisan advocacy organizations to announce their partnership in the Democracy Protection Initiative: a coordinated effort to encourage and represent whistleblowers who come forward with information related to interference in the upcoming election.

The Democracy Protection Initiative is designed to support and protect employees who choose to blow the whistle on illegality and abuses of power aimed at both undermining the election and sabotaging the peaceful transition of power if the electorate were to vote for change. Through targeted “Know Your Rights” messaging and pro-bono representation, the Democracy Protection Initiative will enable employees across federal government agencies and state and local election workers–those in the best positions to witness threats to free and fair elections–to blow the whistle on misconduct that threatens the cornerstone of our fragile democracy. With potential abuses ranging from suppressing intelligence related to foreign interference in elections, politicization of the Department of Justice, deploying federal law enforcement agents to intimidate voters, interference in mail delivery by the US Postal Service, and the spread of disinformation about voter fraud, the threats to election integrity are serious and consequential. The Ways of our Lives…….

The election is over and no one is surprised or even excited about the outcome.  We already knew Obama was the pre-selected winner regardless of how anyone supposedly voted.  It is ironic that Republican voters are now feeling the anger that Democratic voters felt when they watched the 2000 and 2004 elections rigged for Bush the Dolt.  Apparently, vote fraud is ok if you are on the right, but quite hard to endure when it comes from the left. No matter, walking into the voting booth was an exercise in futility…..we already knew Obama would get four more years.  That was the plan and it was the plan all along and nothing, not even your votes, was going to change that. The scripted stage shows we call debates revealed nothing of any real interest to the public.  The absolute silence from Romney on subjects such as:

The TSA molestation of travelers,

The coming UN Small Arms Treaty meant to by-pass the 2nd Amendment,

The LOST treaty which will cede all of our rights on the open seas,

The growing police state here in the US,

The unconstitutional NDAA,

Ending the Czars offices which were unlawfully created, and,

Not one hint of the mountain of executive orders, written not as president of the United States, but issued as Chief Executive of the corporation operating as “The USA, a.k.a. The United States of America”.

Ultimately, this is what both men were fighting over…….who would be the new Chief Executive of the Corporate United States. More

If I had the opportunity to sit in each living room of America, this would be the conversation I would have with each individual who believe they have no power.

America – why are we making this so difficult? The endless discussion, the banter back and forth, the reconciliation game being played in Washington, D.C., Republican, Democrats, Constitutionality?

The answer, though simple, is quite clear once the muck is removed from the discussion. No. Polite, firm and insistent. “No Thank you Mr. Republicrat. The answer to Health Care Reform is No. The answer to an increase in Taxes? No.”  Not a qualified maybe, not a “wait and see”, the answer is No.

Can one not see the return of the Republican’s to the discussion is no more than their attempt to grab what little power and money not already jingling in the pockets of the Democrats? The call sweeping the Nation now  is – “The Vote in 2010 is going to wipe out the corruption in Washington, by replacing the Democrats with Republicans.” Do you really believe that?

I say the answer is No.   No incumbents.   Each and every one of them has contributed to the conflagration that currently abides in this Nation. If you truly believe that through the election process a single one is going to carry through for your wants or needs, take the blinders off and open your eyes.

The only path to the return to simple Government of the People By the People is the People.

Not promises, additional Regulatory Practices, endless debate or bargaining. More

Tomorrow is Election Day in America.

Will the votes be counted accurately or will this be the third presidential election in a row stolen by a criminal gang?

Congressman Robert Wexler  contact@wexlerforcongress.com

I saw it with my own eyes:  The Bush and GOP machine stole the 2000 election and the presidency in Florida (not to mention Ohio in 2004) and the results have been catastrophic for our nation and the world.

Don’t take my word for it – read the dissent of Supreme Court Justices Stevens, Breyer and Ginsberg in the absurd legal decision of Bush v. Gore: “Although we may never know with complete certainty the identity of the winner of this year’s Presidential election, the identity of the loser is perfectly clear. It is the Nation’s confidence in the judge as an impartial guardian of the rule of law.”

Back in 2000, in Florida, I witnessed the votes of World War II veterans thrown away and GOP thugs bully the Miami Dade elections office into stopping a recount.  I swore to myself that never again would the votes of Americans be thrown away and replaced by the votes of appointed judges. Following the 2000 election, I spent 7 years fighting to remove the DIEBOLD electronic machines from Florida and to install a voter verified paper trail which we accomplished last year.

I have bad news:  They are trying again to silence our votes.

Most people associate the 2000 election with paper “chads” and the Supreme Court’s tragic decision.  Yet the voter suppression in 2000 went way beyond not counting votes – from illegal roadblocks near minority precincts to the complete purging of legitimate voters from the rolls through what is called “voter caging “– the practice of using databases to improperly delete voters.

Now, we are seeing signs of voter caging again in both Michigan and Florida.

In Michigan, the state is using a list of foreclosures to purge voters (many of which are still legitimate voters in their districts).

In Florida, my home state, the Republican led Supervisor of Elections is aggressively applying a new law designed to limit voter fraud by summarily deleting voters who might have – as part of a clerical error – a different driver’s license or social security number than was put in the database.

If legitimate, legal voters are denied access to the voting booth – we risk a repeat of 2000, in multiple states.

We must remain vigilant, not just in defense of our economy, but in defense of our rights as Americans.

I am working with my colleagues in Congress to call attention to this matter, but I encourage you to contact your state elections supervisor and demand that they allow every person who claims to be a legitimate voter to submit a provisional ballot.

There is a system in every state to deal with provisional ballots – to verify their legitimacy after the fact.

Voter caging is a threat to our (already challenged) democratic principals.  Please join me and pass this email along to spread the word.

The Bailout…..Lipstick on a pig!

The Senate’s 74-25 vote for Paulson’s Plunder came as no surprise, since the Senate is run by and for millionaires. So now it’s back to the House of Representatives, where we shocked those millionaires on Monday by defeating their bailout bill by 228-205.

A terrified army of corporate lobbyists is working around the clock to switch 13 votes, but only 7 have switched so far – Jim Ramstad (R-MN), John Shadegg (R-AZ), Zach Wamp (R-TN), Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Shelley Berkley (D-NV), Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) and John Lewis (D- GA). Other possible switches include Pat Tiberi (R-OH), Pete Hoekstra (R-MI), John Yarmouth (D-KY), Brian Bilbray (R-CA), Steve Rothman  (D-NJ), Lee Terry (R-NE), Jim Gerlach (R-PA), Tim Murphy (R-PA), Jason Altmire (D-PA), and Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ). But others may switch from Yes to No, including Ed Markey (D-MA), Charlie Melancon (D-LA), and Spencer Bachus (R-AL).

Bush’s first Treasury Secretary, Paul O’Neill, called Paulson’s plan “crazy” and “lunacy” with potentially “awful” consequences for the world’s largest economy. Many of the best economists agree with O’Neill. Paulson’s strongest supporters – including panicked CNBC hosts – now admit it will not raise stock prices or boost the economy as it falls into recession. Then why on earth should we give $700 $850 billion of our tax dollars to Wall Street??? Joe Lieberman gave away the real game when he told FOX ” it will be good for John McCain.”

With so much at stake, Congress should  stay in session for another week (or two) to pass a much better (and cheaper!) plan proposed by Pete DeFazio (D-OR). But Congress desperately wants to go home so Friday may be our last chance to stop this $850 billion disaster .

(1) Call your Representative today!
First check how your Representative voted on Monday (and note switches above):
http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2008/roll674.xml
If (s)he voted NO, say “Thank you for helping stop the Bailout on Monday. Don’t betray us now by voting YES on Friday, or I will vote NO against you on Election Day.”
If (s)he voted YES, say “I’m outraged that you supported the Bailout on Monday, and I will remember on Election Day. If you want my vote on Election Day, you must vote NO on Friday.”

(2) Join or organize a street protest against the bailout:
http://bailoutmainstreet.com/

(3) We’re also partnering with Progressive Democrats of America and USAction/TrueMajority to schedule local meetings with our Representatives to demand a Fair Deal for Main St . If you’d like to help,

Our friends at Agit-Pop produced a rapid response 30-second ad that places blame for the meltdown exactly where it belongs, namely  Bush-McCain economics :

Heisting the election for McCain

Are the corporations, polls, and media collaborating to heist the  election….to McCain?                     by Kathryn Smith Excerpted from original article:     “Pay off the polls to warp the figures, coach the Media to collaborate with the pollsters in lying to the public, and declare the “winner” of the “election” chosen by the Corporations (Halliburton et al): That would at least appear to be the name of the game in 2008. And since that has apparently been the case, it will very likely also be the game in 2009.

It is the inverse of the same game based on which Kucinich was barred from participating in the Debates. Because you see, the mainstream polls said that Kucinich was at the bottom of the pile. So since he had no chance of winning—or so it was claimed by the pollsters—-the media (and the corporations who sponsor the media), declared their “First amendment rights” to X out the Candidates of their own choosing.

My hunch is that by installing McCain, Bush plans to continue his wars (and profiteering) in absentia. But just in case the Dems do win—because after all, anti-Republican sentiment runs high even among Republican constituents—-then the carefully selected Democratic Candidates also are pro-war. So for Halliburton et al, it’s win-win, regardless of the election outcome.

To further assure a Halliburton victory, there is also California, the new Ohio/Florida of 2008—and 2009? Double Bubble Trouble as it has come to be known, seems to only occur in Democratic votes. Aha! Mission accomplished. According to an e-mail from the Courage Campaign on 2-7-07, a staggering 50% of those who registered in California as “Decline to State” voters lost their vote: These Decline-to-state voters in Los Angeles County, choosing to vote Democratic, were not instructed to fill in a particular bubble on the ballot which would actually get their vote counted. Short of filling in that one bubble, the entire ballot was tossed out. Such has been the actual experience of voters in the Southern California area. There go many Democratic votes….pouf! Gone. In fact, the Courage Campaign says that these “pouf’d” votes comprise as much as 19.3% of the total California electorate.”

No Real Choices

As the country prepares to release a sigh of relief at the prospect of George W Bush finally leaving office, I think I will continue to hold my breath.  This has been, by almost all accounts the worst presidency in our history but few of us were willing to stand up and demand that he be removed from office.   By now, we have all realized that congress has neither the will nor the courage to impeach and then prosecute this entire administration.

So what did our laziness and inattention buy us?  As a nation we stand poised on the edge of losing our sovereignty to the North American Union.  Our own government is working actively to dismantle our Republic and replace it with a dictatorship, replete with internment camps for dissenters.  We have stood by while one law after another has been passed that directly infringed on our civil liberties and rights, and have been compliant accomplices in wars of aggression against other sovereign nations.

We have become a nation of cowards.  Even when we, as a nation, have been shown the lies and deceptions used to promote these wars we cowered in fear:  better to fight them “over there” than here.  The problem is that the people we are warring with never attacked us.  So just who is it that we are so fearful of in Iraq?  We don’t know.  The government either can’t or won’t identify who this enemy was in Iraq that made us attack them.

We are threatened continually with another attack if we don’t allow the government to illegally spy on us, to detain us without charges, to rifle through our personal business and to compile dossiers on each of us as they prepare for martial law.  And, like the dutiful sheeple we are, many of us exclaim, “Well!  If you haven’t done anything wrong you shouldn’t mind if they do that”.  Its precisely because I haven’t done anything wrong that I do mind.

I find it strange that the only place threats of attacks ever come from are from our own government.  Could it be that in some perverse way they are telling us that they will attack us if we don’t comply?  After all, these threats are always so vague and even when they do claim to thwart an attempted attack, we never really quite know who, where, how or when.  We’re only told that the attack was thwarted……..only no one seems to know anything about it but them!

I would like to think that the election of a new president from any quarter would bring relief and a restoration of our constitution and bill of rights.  It won’t.  We are given choices of whom to vote for, but only choices based on pre-selected candidates that will continue the destruction of our country.  Which should give you a clue as to why Ron Paul is misrepresented in the polls and why his name was crossed off the ballots in New York.

In the end, we have no real choices.  No matter who is elected, that person will simply continue with the plans to merge us with Mexico and Canada, and life as we have known will change forever.  Not one of the candidates who will appear on the ballot will do one thing to restore our government to one governed by the people.

In the end, the fact that we have no real choices is our own fault.  It was our apathy and laziness, our inattention to the monster that our government had become that allowed any of this to happen.  We have only ourselves to blame.
