Senator Durbin attacks supplements…AGAIN!

Note:  Where was Senator Durbin when Vioxx killed an estimated 500,000 people?  Where is he when the FDA approves as safe and effective, medications and vaccines that kill or permanently harm individuals?  He is nowhere to be found!  Supplement manufacturers are already restrained from making unfounded claims.  And, supplements are not protected by the FDA so-called “rates of acceptable deaths” associated with big pharma .  Personally, I think we should demand that government officials be labeled… toxic and dangerous!

Durbin’s bill, S 1310  The proposed law trusts the FDA and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) to decide what levels and combinations of dietary ingredients are considered safe and what aren’t. Given the FDA’s profound bias against supplements, and the skewed, anti-science recommendations of the IOM’s recent vitamin D report, these are hardly trustworthy sources of guidance!

You won’t believe this, but Senator Durbin has actually reintroduced his disastrous anti-supplement bill!

Today, just as Congress is preparing to recess until the second week in September, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) reintroduced legislation that would deal a deadly blow to nutritional supplements.

This bill is a naked new FDA power grab—an attempt to move us one step closer to a full FDA pre-approval system for supplements. That, of course, would just make supplements insanely expensive, like drugs—if you could get them at all.

URGENT! Please write to your senators immediately and tell them to stop Sen. Durbin’s frontal attack on your right to use supplements dead in its tracks! We don’t need this new legislation—all we need is for existing laws to be fully enforced. We do need our access to nutritional supplements to be protected.

Tell Your Senators to Oppose Sen. Durbin’s Dietary Supplement Labeling Act

The Dietary Supplement Labeling Act has been introduced in the in the Senate by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL).  The bill targets nutritional supplements and supplement manufacturers in an effort to pass unnecessary new regulations and give the FDA vast new powers.

This bill requires that the FDA, together with the Institute of Medicine, compile a list of dietary ingredients (supplements) that could lead to adverse events or are otherwise deemed risky in some way. But creating lists of “bad” ingredients or “bad” doses based on completely arbitrary or non-existent standards is a slippery slope. Please do not be misled. This is not a minor change to DSHEA. It will give the FDA major new powers to curtail supplement sales. It will lead inexorably to pre-approval for supplements—and that will cost so much that most supplements will disappear.

Moreover, almost all of the bill’s other provisions are already covered by existing law. There is no need for any new legislation, especially with the vague language in this bill; the only need is for existing laws to be fully enforced.  Sign petition HERE!

We Become SilentIf you thought it was because government is concerned about your health; if you thought it was anything other than a corporate take over of food and dietary supplements…you need to watch this documentary from 2005.  Michael Taylor, the new food Czar from Monsanto, and former FDA higher up….laying the groundwork for what was to come.  The threat of the World Trade Organization as well as the real reasons for NAFTA/CAFTA…….it has nothing to do with trade, only corporate business; a business which targets you.

International award-winning filmmaker Kevin P. Miller of Well TV announced the release of a new documentary about the threat to medical freedom of choice. We Become Silent: The Last Days of Health Freedom details the ongoing attempts by multinational pharmaceutical interests and giant food companies — in concert with the WTO, the WHO and others — to limit the public’s access to herbs, vitamins and other therapies.

We Become Silent is narrated by Dame Judi Dench, the noted UK actress who has won multiple Golden Globe awards, an Oscar, and a Tony for her on-stage work, in addition to dozens of other honors throughout her prestigious career.

Is there any requirement on pharmaceutical labels to state that they are safe and effective?

Do pharmaceuticals in fact, state that they are safe and effective?  No! They do not!

Consumer Reports has just come out with the first volley against dietary supplements in order to help the FDA justify the illegal and unlawful assumption of power the agency recently claimed it “believed” it had.  As the FDA attempts to exert unlawful authority over alternative’s to toxic pharmaceuticals, it appears Consumer Reports will do what it can to propagandize this campaign for CODEX and the coming attempts to regulate alternative natural supplements and herbs in order to profit corporate pharmaceutical companies.

With this report surfacing behind the recent claims of FDA, saying they believed they had the authority to override DSHEA , ending our protected rights to dietary supplements, if that’s what we chose, and implementing CODEX standards which have been thoroughly rejected by the public, FDA will be surfacing more in the news with exaggerated claims of danger from contamination and unverifiable claims of harm from dietary supplements.

It is unfortunate that FDA is not as tenacious or concerned with the lethal drugs it sets loose on the population on behalf of corporate partners who pay to play. More

“Harkin’s S. 510 claims to protect supplements while FDA Creates a Wide-Open Back Door to Destroy Them While We Are Still Celebrating”

Not long ago, a form of Vitamin B6 (pryadoxamine) was forbidden by the FDA because a drug company had studied it and wanted to make it into a drug.  Never mind that it was protected by the 1994 Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act (DSHEA) as a grandfathered item on the “Old Ingredients List”.  Recently the Fraud and Death Administration said that although we know that it had been in use before DSHEA and WAS on the list found on the FDA website, being on the list was not (hold on to your hats here) proof of being on the list and thus not proof of being grandfathered.

Now, because another drug company wants to make another form of Vitamin B6 into a drug, and it fears, in writing, that people would take the supplement rather than the drug if it were not banned as a supplement, The FDA is considering granting its Citizens Petition to do just that. More

The McCain/Dorgan Dietary Supplement Safety Act, another of those misnamed pieces of legislation; this one intended to begin the down hill slide into Codex Alimentarius.  Of course it was promoted as a consumer protection bill when in fact it is a direct attempt to gut the DSHEA (Dietary Supplement Health Education Act) passed in1994.  DSHEA passed unanimously and protected the right of American consumer’s access to high quality, high potency supplements.  This act also kept the dietary supplements industry out of big pharma’s hands as they are not medicinal, but rather, nutritional.  Supplements are a food form, not a pharmaceutical medicine.

The thrust of the McCain/Dorgan bill was to move supplements into the pharmacy category and out of the food category.  As supplements contain no pharmaceuticals and occur naturally in nature big pharma can’t run the usual “theft and patent” scam claiming they created it or created some new version of it.  Because supplements are nutritional rather than medicinal this change in how supplements are treated would have ended the right to choose if and what supplements we could buy and the level of potency. Senator McCain Files New Bill That Attacks Your Access to Supplements and Repeals Key Sections of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act

It appears since congress couldn’t pass CODEX into law quite as fast as they anticipated, John McCain is taking the first step in the “do it one piece at a time” approach.  If we don’t rid ourselves of this bunch of globalist, corporate puppeteers…..shame on us!  Marti

 Supplement Health and Education Act

TAKE ACTION AND TELL YOUR SENATOR NOT TO CO-SPONSOR THIS BILL

Senator McCain’s bill is called The Dietary Supplement Safety Act (DSSA). It would repeal key sections of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA). DSHEA protects supplements if 1) they are food products that have been in the food supply and not chemically altered or 2) if they were sold as supplements prior to 1994, the year that DSHEA was passed. If a supplement fits one of these two descriptions, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cannot arbitrarily ban it or reclassify it as a drug.

These protections are far from perfect. They discourage companies from developing new forms of supplements. New supplements may be arbitrarily banned by the FDA or adopted by drug companies in a way that precludes their further sale as supplements.

McCain’s bill would wipe out even the minimal protections contained in DSHEA. It would give the FDA full discretion and power to compile a discreet list of supplements allowed to remain on the market while banning all others.

Everyone knows that the FDA is friendly to drug More
