The Accidental Terrorist (Update)

Washington State Department of Agriculture is interested in your purchases as well.

Along with the “Watchlist Service” which apparently will become the “List of Lists” – one wonders who is watching the watchers?

Homeland Security plans to operate a massive new database of names, photos, birthdays and biometrics called Watchlist Service, duplicated from the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database which has proven not to be accurate many times in the past. DHS wants to exempt the Watchlist Service from Privacy Act provisions, meaning you will never know if you are wrongfully listed. Privacy groups worried about inaccurate info and mission creep have filed a protest, arguing the Privacy Act says DHS must notify subject of government surveillance. More

Congratulations! You are now officially a “domestic terrorist

constttCongratulations!  You are now officially a “domestic terrorist” and considered to be the greatest threat to the government.  You are the newly defined terrorist the government fears most. Please refer to the John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 which allows the president to declare you a “domestic terrorist” if you disagree with government policy or participate in dissenting views……which you have done if you accessed this article.

When our government speaks of terrorists, I bet you think they are talking about someone “over there”.  NOT!  They aren’t concerned with foreign terrorists, after all they perform a very necessary function.  More

At what point we will say “enough!”?  H.R 1955 and the companion S. 1959, both known as the,

Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007

are both nothing more than an outright assault on our civil liberties disguised as anti-terrorism prevention.  These bills are no different than the horrendous Patriot Act or the Security Enhancement Act of 2003.  The words terrorism, terrorist(s) are used only when our constitutional rights are being attacked, and then only as means of justifying the further erosion of our rights and the empowerment and expansion of the government and military over our daily lives.

Congress and the president are constitutionally prohibited from abridging our freedoms enumerated in the Constitution.  Why do we tolerate these overt acts of suppression and terrorism by those in our government who have become so fearful of the general population and what could be the reason for this fear?

We had the recent opportunity to vote all these bums out of office.  Why were so many of us so willing to re-elect those who have shown us they despise us?

Note to the GOP: Miscreants like Coulter and Limbaugh must go in order to save your party

We must with vigilance continue to monitor what the right-wing of the Republican Party has to say and the minions who spout their ignorant-crap for a lack of a better term to define it.

Yes, I am speaking of Ann Coulter after reading this article on Townhall.com. It was vile and lacked any substance and sustenance for these United States of America.  Coulter must wrap her brain (if she has one) around the fact that she and her ilk lost on Election Day and thank God for that.

If this past Election Day taught us anything is that America finally wanted and craved a high-minded intellectual residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  The world’s reaction to our new president to be was refreshing considering the fact how this present one has been mocked and ridiculed time-and-time again during these past eight years.

In this blistering defeat, those like Coulter are acting like petulant children who did not get their way and thank God they did not.  It is as if she is threw herself to the floor throwing a tantrum.  It is up to all of us to send her and others just like her to their corner for an extended time-out.

In calling Colin Powell a “loser” for his endorsement of President-elect, Barack Obama, it shows her lack of intellect.  This is exactly what Americans rejected in this past election.  We craved more than what the right-wing of the Republican Party was offering us.  Ann Coulter, must take a good look in the mirror to see exactly who the loser is at this moment in time.  But, she wont.  She will continue to angrily type at her key board and appear on any show that will have her so that she can to continue an old bellicose message filled with deceit.  My message to these shows is to consider Coulter persona-non-grata.  We have important issues to delve into and more importantly solve.

In his speech to the nation the other night, President-elect, Barack Obama even realized that the government cannot solve all of our problems.  This should be seen by the media as a golden opportunity and get back to what they are supposed to do and that is to inform people.  Instead of presenting miscreants like Coulter, present to the American people high-minded intellectuals that can help solve the problems we are all facing.

To the Republican Party if there is any lesson to be learned in all of this and for you to rebuild your party, you must replace minions like Coulter with high-minded intellectuals.  Yes, intelligence does matter.  This vitriol of hate is exactly why you went down in flames.  Quite frankly you offered the electorate nothing during the presidential campaign.

While most Americans huddled around their kitchen tables frightened to death on how to pay this bill or that, the right-wing of the Republican Party gave us Bill Ayers as cited in Coulter’s article.  Those gathered at that kitchen table gave the GOP their answer back by giving folks like Palin and Coulter a sound spanking.

In listening to several broadcast spots on MSNBC yesterday, they discussed who will be the leaders of the Republican Party and one name was floated and it was Mitt Romney.  I shuddered in total disbelief for this one reason.  At the Republican National convention he demonized liberals and did not give us one reason as to why we should elect any Republican let alone John McCain and Sarah Palin.

While the introduction of Sarah Palin at their convention gave them a boost in the polls, it was the defining moment that they were not about to delve into the issues.  After all, Rick Davis did say, “This election is not about the issues” No wonder they lost and it clearly showed to all of us that their campaign would be one of distractions and divisions.  Anyone thinking of running for office from the Republican Party should steer clear of Davis.

If the right-wing media such as Fox News is to learn anything, it can be found in these words, “The CEOs of cable news outlets and the mainstream media should begin the healing process by giving pink slips to all the hate-mongers they have on their payrolls.” They were expressed by Bill Corcoran in a letter to the editor at the Chicago Sun Times.  Corcoran through his blog has spoken out on so many critical issues pertinent to this republic.

To the Republican Party, one of the most important reasons why you lost on Election Day is this simple fact; you have relied too heavily on hateful messages and in fact insane messages coming from folks like Coulter and Limbaugh.  While their messages feeds the base their red-meat, for the rest of us, we were starving for any substantive campaign coming from John McCain and Sarah Palin.  Thankfully we were nourished by our new President-elect, Barack Obama and Vice President-elect, Joe Biden.

As some discuss whether or not Palin will be a viable and relevant candidate for the 2012 Republican ticket, we as Americans must not forget how she stoked the fires of hate and divisiveness in this campaign.  She became the domestic terrorist she claimed that President-elect, Barack Obama was and where her words could have had dire consequences to this republic.  We as a republic cannot go back to that darkened abyss, but move on.

When did we become the enemy?

After watching the avalanche of infringements on our civil liberties since 9/11 I can only conclude that it is American citizens who have become a threat to “national security”.  It is also apparent to me that what you or I think of as national security is not quite the same thing as the government’s perceptions.

Through the Military Commissions Act we lost the writ of habeas corpus…the right to due process and to know what we are charged with and the right to mount a defense.  Now, just voicing an opposition to government policies can get you labeled as a “domestic terrorist”.

The John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007 reinforced this loss of due process and gave the president the right to deem any one of us as domestic combatants, solely on his deciding that we are.  It also gave him the right to put our National Guards and Reserves under federal military control to use against us should he decide to.These two pieces in particular gutted the Posse Commitatus Act that forbid the use of any standing army of the United States to be used against the citizens.

And just this last week, General Renaurt AF, signed the Civil Assistance Plan with Canada that will allow the Canadian Military to be used against us on our own soil.  We have similar agreements with Mexico and Germany among others.  This assistance is needed in case we have a forest fire, earthquake, terrorist attack…..or civil revolt.

The “Anti Terrorism and Homegrown Radicalization Act” S 1959 will make it an act of force and/or violence to rally, protest, or to gather in any way to try and change social, religious or political views.  To do so would mean that you are now a “radical”.  In the center of this unconstitutional bill is the groundwork for closing down entire sections of the internet.  Supposedly, we are so stupid and gullible that we are being exposed to extremist propaganda on the net every day and we need to be protected from that.  As a person who spends hours every day on the net researching legislation among other things, and have done so for years, I have never once seen or been exposed to any propaganda from any extremists other than those in our own government.

Homeland Security now has the Infragard….a coalition of about 23,000 individuals from the business sector who have been deputized to “defend the infrastructure in their area”, and have the right to shoot to kill without fear of prosecution when (not if) martial law is declared.

Infragard works directly with the FBI and reports “suspicious” activities by employees, neighbors, and others.  And they are armed. The FBI is building a database that now includes about 60 million people, and intends to continue doing this with an end objective of about 20 billion individual files.  They also have a watch list data base with an estimated 300 thousand names on it of possible “suspects”.

Obama’s “Global Poverty Tax” bill is on the floor of the senate now.  It allows the United Nations to assess a tax of .07% on our GDP…amounting to billions and billions of dollars to be taken from US taxpayers supposedly to fight poverty in third world countries.  Hidden in this piece of work is the intention to ban small arms….including hunting rifles and shotguns.  It would also make US citizens subject to international law, rather than our own courts.

Even though this is a limited list of assaults on our liberty, does anyone see anything here that would have any affect on stopping terrorism?  Not one of these bills or agreements deals with anything other than stripping US citizens of their rights, and establishing a police state.  So who are these people that our government is so fearful of?  George Bush claimed at one time that he had looked the enemy in the eye……and apparently he was looking at us.

S 1959…..Tell them what you think!

If I understand the act correctly, somwhow, bloggers, independent news services that are not controlled by the CIA or the Office of Propaganda, The Ministry of Truth (as we want you to know it) or any of the other government agencies that actively control  the content in MSM are now a threat to national security.

Supposedly, it’s those of us out here who are communicating outside of the prescribed boundaries of propaganda that our government is now fearful of.  Blogging has been deemed a “threat” to national security.

Rumsfeld, before he was canned, claimed that the internet was an “enemy weapons system” and should be closed down.  Of course Rummy viewed anyone outside of the government as an enemy…..and not because of the interent.

Our entire government now views the American citizenry to be potential terrorists and a threat to national security.  You have only to look at the laws that have been passed over the last 20 years to realize that the people our government is most fearful of ……is us.

If this bill passes……..just communicating your ideas, opinions or thoughts to your representative or senator could be considered an act of violence.  Being politically active outside the golden walls of congress could get you labeled a “domestic terrorist”.  Practicing unapproved religions could get you labeled as “undesirable”.  Working for social or political change could net you a special cell at one of the new FEMA camps.

Ultimately, there are laws against the fluffy issues surrounding what this law is supposed to be about.  But, sitting dead in the middle of the contents is the internet.  That’s what they are really after.  As it is, the 1st Amendment protects the internet from our government so a new law with a phony national security threat had to be devised so that the 1st could be breached.
