Top Dem Puts Hold On Trump Interior Nominee, Requests DOJ Perjury Probe

Daniel Jorjani, the nominee to serve as the Interior Department’s top lawyer, appears before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on May 2.

Sen. Ron Wyden said Daniel Jorjani, who has been nominated to be the agency’s top lawyer, may have lied to Congress.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) on Wednesday announced that he has placed a hold on the nomination of Daniel Jorjani to serve as the Interior Department’s top lawyer, citing concerns that the political appointee possibly lied to lawmakers about his role in reviewing public information requests submitted to the agency.

Wyden also called on the Department of Justice to investigate whether Jorjani perjured himself during his May confirmation hearing before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. The Interior’s FOIA policy is already the subject of an inquiry by the department’s internal ethics watchdog, the Office of Inspector General, The New York Times reported last week.

“I believe Department documents made public through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) show Mr. Jorjani may have knowingly misled members of the Committee about the Department’s adherence to laws meant to ensure transparency and accountability in government,” Wyden wrote Tuesday in a letter to the acting head of the DOJ’s public integrity division.

Jorjani, a former adviser for fossil fuel moguls Charles and David Koch, has served as Interior’s principal deputy solicitor since May 2017. Late last year, then-Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke signed an order that put Jorjani in charge of overseeing the agency’s FOIA program. The move stripped transparency authority from the agency’s chief information officer and handed it over to a political appointee who once told colleagues that “at the end of the day, our job is to protect the Secretary” from ethics probes and bad press. Crooked Judges, Lawyers and Corporate Power : Americans Murdering Their Judges, and the U.S. Crisis of Judicial Corruption

“America’s FBI and Department of Justice collect files on judicial corruption like they collect files on everything else, but they hold back from acting, even in cases where they have clear enough evidence to bring an indictment in minutes. The law enforcement agencies in America blow with the political winds, and in the absence of media attention, they will cover up for judges, whose help they require when they need to win convictions on flimsy evidence. The judges who take bribes are gladly eager to help law enforcement railroad and convict innocent people. The mutual back-scratching of cops and judges is routine.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the headlines are the appalling news stories of Americans carrying out murderous attacks on judges and their families. In a matter of days, one judge was shot and killed in his own courtroom, while another judge had family members brutally murdered in their home.
These news stories are, however, related to another news story, which is the most taboo subject of the American media — the expanding crisis of corruption among American judges and lawyers. At question is whether the deepening despair of Americans about their own legal system, is fueling some of these violent attacks on judges.
Much is written now about how America’s economy is resembling that of a banana republic, given how America is sunk in preposterous debt, and how the U.S. dollar currency is sinking toward a possible collapse in the near future.
But there is another way that America is also like a banana republic, in that its legal system — contrary to its Hollywood image — has become a sink-well of secret proceedings, the jailing of the innocent and political misconduct;  and how it is sullied with documented corruption, fake trials and court fraud.
These facts are not generally understood, because of how judicial corruption is the most un-reported news story in the American landscape. It is the category of news story which America’s newspapers and media are most afraid to report, even when clear proof is in their hands.
In America right now, judges — and lawyers who are protected by judges — can commit felony crimes in broad delight, leave the proof lying around, and yet avoid being prosecuted or even having their crimes be reported by the media. The people who work in the media see a lot of material on court misconduct, and yet they know this is the story of which they dare not speak. The lack of media coverage, in turn, encourages more judicial corruption, leaving millions of Americans in anger and despair.
Confronting the secrets of U.S. judicial corruption, is a key to understanding America’s whole social crisis, and its role in the world right now. Here are some elements of this situation that you won’t see in run-of-the-mill news reports:
The Innocent in USA courts:
Imprisoned, Sentenced to Death, Losing All They Have
The key statistic to understanding America, is that it has over 2.2 million prisoners (!) out of about 300 million people. This is 25 per cent of all the prisoners, anywhere, in the entire world. By comparison, the most populous nation, China, with about 1.3 billion people, only has a few hundred thousand prisoners, despite being denounced by the USA as a “repressive” country.
1 out of every 45 working-age males (that is, not counting children or the elderly) is BEHIND BARS in the United States. With working-age black males, the figures are about 1 out of 20. This is the stuff of revolution. More
The DC District Court, Judge Paul Friedman, has devised a plan with the Former Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, to defraud Taxpayers out of $400,000,000. The USDA entered into a deal to settle claims against Socially Disadvantaged Farmers. However, the Agency, USDOJ and Judge Friedman have breached the contract agreement. In short, there is $400,000,000 that is left from Congressional Funds that was appropriated for this settlement. More
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE PAID OUT OVER ONE BILLION DOLLARS IN THE LAST 10 YEARS FOR VIOLATIONS; LESS THAN 2 PERCENT PAID TO BLACK FARMERS THAT HAVE 98 PERCENT OF PENDING CLAIMS
The USDA takes great pride in systemic discrimination and have been very effective in not paying for such egregious acts. Over the last 10 years, the USDA has paid over One Billion in claims filed for violations of law, but they have managed to pay less than 2 percent to Black Farmers who represent 98 percent of the pending claims.
The Administrative Procedures Act is a law enacted by Congress to give the Agency a chance to correct its own actions. However, the Agency has instructed the Administrative Law Judge and Judicial Officer to deny all claims by Black Farmers and minimize claims against White Farmers.
Of the One Billion paid by the Judgment Fund, the Administrative Law Judge only awarded 10 Million on settlements over the last 10 years. The reasons for this strategy or position taken, to deny formal hearing on the merits, is so that the complainants can not get all of the records to substantiate their claims if they file a suit against the agency in federal court. The Department of Justice has been very good at getting suits dismissed due to lack of evidence to substantiate claims.
The most common discrimination claim against the Department is Equal Credit Opportunity Act, a tort for discrimination. To be victorious in that claim, a claimant must provide proof of similarly situated White Farmers getting the same or similar favorable treatment in regards to loans. It is virtually impossible to provide such information. However, Congress mandated that the Agency must provide a copy of those records, which include similarly situated White Farmers in the records, found in the expressed language of section 14012 of the Food Energy and Conservation Act or 2008 Farm Bill. The Courts, in most cases, are not following the law and dismissing these discrimination actions by Black Farmers without the benefit of discovery or compelling the records as Congress mandated.
Department of Justice
The report of the Department of Justice mentioned by Sally O’Boyle in her letter (see previous post on SPLC) has certainly earned the Department a place among America’s Enemies. There is so much drivel in this publication that to try to analyze and comment on the whole thing would take a small book. I’ve just taken some excerpts to illustrate my contentions regarding the DoJ and its report. For the most part, I’ve just dealt with the domestic end of it, leaving out the Middle East groups cited. Most of my comments are totally serious, but a few I may have made with tongue partially inserted in cheek because the whole report is so absurd. More
