Counterculture Demi-gods Still On The Horizon

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Freedom of speech and freedom of the press and the right to privacy are enshrined in the Bill of Rights which is meant to “protect the people” from former kingdoms and present day rogue governments fashioned to rule with an iron hand and monitor people through various means including invasive forms of surveillance, tapping phone lines, using satellites imagining and recording conversations on chipped cellphones, which is also being done by the corporate sector which uses cellphone notifications that are aligned with your conversation or your Internet search words.  Who’s watching and listening now, Google and Big Brother?
The Chinese people are already being monitored to the point that major privileges will be taken away if that person is not aligned with government rules and propaganda that seeks to make their rulers demi-gods and their rogue government their “safety net.”  Fat chance.  This is something that our founders were well aware of and that is why the Bill of Rights was born and fashioned to protect the people from their own government.
However, When ideological tyrants rule under the guise of democracy or a Republic, and for the “good of the whole”, checks and balances are ignored, censorship is born while disinformation reins, and thus, in this horrid state of affairs, it is inevitable that the socio-political-cultural and economic  needs of the people are sadly replaced by dreamers, idealists and corrupt special interests, which are inside and outside of the government.  This is what is now going on in America, plain and simple.  We can deny it and go on with our lives as if nothing is happening that could destroy the foundation of America but, lo and behold, America is now on the brink of falling away, but is there someone out there who will carry the torch of liberty before it is too late?  The flame is about ready to go out because the people are rapidly losing control of their country.
Finally,  these far reaching consequences within the state, which are treasonous and unconstitutional,  becomes tyranny when there is rampant corruption and  a total loss of the rule of law within and outside of government to where freedom is then destroyed either through anarchy or massive government control or though biased corporate entities such as Twitter, Facebook, Google and YouTube which regularly censor valuable knowledge which is necessary for making important choices.
Friends, this is America, plain and simple and it is now at the crossroads with an election that may make us or break us.  Choose wisely, lest the your basic freedoms and a country, which at one time focused on peace and
love, becomes run over by mob rule and civil unrest.  America, the beautiful, it is time for you to return to your roots lest you lose those very ideals that you cherish.  Love is the answer.
Impeachment is only a planned diversion… But you aren’t smart enough to figure that out!
In My Opinion……
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Trump is not the best president we ever had. And Clinton would have been many times worse.

This phony impeachment situation is a bipartisan effort to divert the American public from the collapsing banking systems, and, more importantly….to keep us fighting amongst ourselves. If we were to stop attacking one another the planned and anticipated civil revolt might not happen. And, if the efforts to manipulate the public into rising up fail, all that military equipment that has been doled out to our former “peace officers” who now are called “law enforcement” officers, will sit idle. If the intended use for military equipment in the hands of civil authorities was anything but advanced preparation for what our own government intends to do to us, I don’t know what that reason would be.

There is absolutely NO intention of impeaching Trump. While this vote may have cleared the House, it will never clear the Senate which is controlled by Republicans. The Democrats knew this when they started the stage show and the Republicans played the wounded party. End of impeachment story. You got had America! And all those royal jackasses in D.C. were in on the joke.

Things could only have been worse if Hillary Clinton had been put in office. Maybe ask yourself why those in the House and Senate have not investigated her? Why is she not in prison? Where was the DOJ on that one?

Trump serves a purpose. Widely recognized as being a bully, amoral, childish in his temperament and possibly in the early stages of dementia, he is a useful tool for those who are seeking to overthrow our Constitution, and our representative republic. This man has no knowledge of history, of what life is like for us out here in no man’s land, of how government is supposed to work or what the limits on his office are. Worse, he doesn’t even care to know! And no one, not Republican or Democrat is about to tell him. Most likely because they are just as ignorant as he is of these things.

Demcocracy! Democracy! Who’s got your Democracy??

Screw your “democracy”…democracy is defined as mob rule. The mob in D.C. is ruling everyday against the people it was elected to represent. Personally, I believe the entire House and Senate needs to be impeached and removed from office. They do not listen to us, represent us or defend our Constitution. Why are we paying these people?? Why do we tolerate them and their chronic and ongoing corruption? What is wrong with us as a population that we accept these things and do not demand more, and better representation?

We are at a crossroads America. When the two least qualified individuals are all we had to choose from for president of these United States, we should have known the fix was in. We can do better than this.

“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

Consumers of the print or electronic output of the League of Copy Typists and their Instructors are expected to believe many impossible things and believe them, not just before breakfast, but all day too.

Come to think it, believing any part of the official Skripal story, from the incredibly lethal nerve agent that didn’t kill them, to the spectacular coincidence of the British Army’s chief nurse being on the scene, to the re-wrapped perfume bottle would tax the White Queen’s ability. Here’s a list. But that’s not to say that we’re finished yet: there always seems to be another absurdity like the dead ducks.

   Democracy or a Republic:  Why America is Neither

      America is neither a democracy nor a Republic.  It is because in a Democracy or a “representative” Republic, laws will not be affected by corporate elite’s or nonprofit institutional lobbyists, but the country will be fashioned to benefit the people, their life, liberty, and their pursuit of happiness.  If those framers of our Constitution had foresaw the collateral damage that would have arose out of the ashes because of those high rollers of industry, non profits and other treasonous, sinister players within America’s deep state, they would have placed mechanisms within the framework of the Constitution to prevent their concentration of power and sought to protect the people from the present corruption, but also the web of hi-tech surveillance that is already here and is rapidly increasing which will come in the form of a 5G electronic worldwide, wireless network to where more
speed, bondage and intrusion of ones privacy will transpire and freedom will erode.
    Example:  Are the people ready for a car which they may be driving that will automatically send a signal to a police car alerting the officer if your seat belt is attached or not?

By the time this column is published in the Duluth Reader and also around the world, the mid-term election of 2018 will be over. So, whether there is a blue wave or not, I have decided to update – and actually shorten (!) – a 2016 column that will make important points that might help make sense for future voters, whether they will feel relieved, triumphant, sad or angry – or not. The electorate still needs to understand what really motivates divisive or tyrannical politicians that have sought power and wealth no matter the era or nation. Please read it carefully.

____________________________________________________________________________

A sociopath is a person whose behavior is antisocial, often criminally greedy, and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility, empathy or social conscience. Sociopaths never sincerely apologize nor are they capable of exhibiting remorse for wrongs that they have committed.

A narcissist is person who has an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration, sexual gratification, applause and a lack of empathy for others.

A egomaniac is a pathological egotist, someone with a psychological disorder who exhibits symptoms like delusions of grandeur and an obsession with greatness, power or wealth.

A xenophobe is a person who is fearful or contemptuous of that which is foreign, especially of strangers or of people from different countries or cultures.

A demagogue is a political leader who seeks support by appealing to popular desires and prejudices rather than by using rational argument.

Once upon a time, there was a egomaniacal, sociopathic, narcissistic and xenophobic national leader who was attempting to rise to political power in his politically-divided, post-war nation. This deeply flawed demagogue, who was worshipped by millions of rabble-rousing, beer-swilling, racist, sexist, gun-toting, anti-Semitic, flag-waving, uber-nationalist, xenophobic, white supremacists, professed that his goal in running for national office was to make his supposedly weak, supposedly under-militarized country great again. Democracy vs. Oligarchy – ABUSING SENIORS

FROM OUR MAY 2018 PRINTED EDITION

Lawyers Running Amok

Democracy vs. Oligarchy

by David Arnold

This is the third in a series of articles on democracy in the United States. The first was “The death of democracy in the Probate Court,”

The second was “We the people and accountability of lawyers,.

We have all been taught since childhood that the United States is a democracy. I used to just accept that without questioning it. However, democracy is not automatic. It is a constant struggle to make sure no individual or entity takes control of the whole government.

The United Stated has the structure of a democracy with three different branches of government. There are supposed to be checks and balances between the three branches to prevent abuse of power by any one of the three branches of government.

The tripartite system of government is commonly ascribed to the French political philosopher Baron de Montesquieu. Having three branches of government is a necessary but not sufficient condition to insure a democracy. Montesquieu pointed out an additional requirement. The personnel of the three branches must not coincide. If a single person or entity controls all three branches, this destroys the checks and balances. The government ends up being an oligarchy.

Author,

While the nations sleep,  history has shown us that tyrants, kings, monarchies, oligarchies, and dictators have repeatedly abused their subjects, young and old, and in many ways, systematically sought to maintain their royal power and authority no matter what the cost. The initial abuse in the beginning went unnoticed because of cover ups and censorship but then later surfaces in the form of oppression, prison, fines, over taxation, corrupt judges, property takings, invasion of privacy, state-run news outlets, and thousands of laws and regulatory policies that continues to benefit the government yet not the people.

   Now then, in America’s present day ideology of a “Republic”, the term is meant to give a country and its people “true” representation, that is worthy as being a voice of the people and not special interests.  And since departing from Great Britain in 1776, the American people who contested the authoritarian regime of King George III had hopes for a better life with regard to freedom and basic needs.

  So, while, America and other nations through the centuries embraced “better” government by the people, elected leaders began to cater to corporate elite’s, organizations, lobbyists and their own star-studded centralized bureaucracy. And although the voice from the people was the original intention, America began to fall from grace to powerful elite forces that rule behind the scenes…  Deep State anybody?

  Consequently, while America  still has the appearance of a Republic and being represented by Congress and State “representatives”, the bigger picture reveals that certain players in America and also other world governments are on a mission to destroy freedom and nationalism in exchange for globalism, the redistribution of the wealth, political correctness, persuasion, propaganda, legalism, socialism and other forms of a highly oppressive, centralized bureaucratic process, which fully departed from the Constitutional framework fashioned by the founders. So, how will “we the people” stop the present runaway train in its tracks and unload the luggage that binds the people?

Expose this sinister agenda that aims to enslave the people and shout it from the rooftops!

Lessons for the Sanders’ Revolution of 2016 From the Doomed Progressive Politics of the Post-Vietnam Era in Australia

“Fear and negativity won out in Australia after the coup. Again, that familiar tune. We learn from this that opponents of change will do anything. As we’ve seen here, they will play dirty, they will vow and pledge and undermine like there’s no tomorrow. We cannot expect them to abide by democracy or decency.” – Meaghan Delahunt

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Four decades ago in Viet Nam War-era Australia, after a decade in which that nation’s progressive thinkers (especially its logically anti-imperialist, antiwar youth) were fed up with Australia’s collaboration in the stupidity and the atrocities of the American-led Vietnam War, a political movement emerged that came close to revolutionizing the ever-lasting right-wing Australian political system.
The early 1970s were exciting times for progressives, and it was happening at the exact same time that the disastrous and ill-conceived agendas of Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger were provoking chants in the streets that said “Hell No, We Won’t Go”. Australian progressives were sympathizing with returning American Viet Nam veterans who testified about the war crimes that they had committed “in country” and then, in disgust, went to Washington, DC and threw their military medals at the Pentagon.
The revolutionary Australian movement of the early 1970s was virtually indistinguishable from the politics of the 2016 Bernie Sanders-led movement that came close to upsetting America’s entrenched, conservative, perpetual war, pro-Wall Street, pro-privatization political system that has had increasingly firm control of America’s electoral politics for the last century. Back then, in Australia’s major parliamentary elections of 1972 and 1974, the Australian Labour Party’s very popular progressive politician (and democratic socialist) Gough Whitlam was elected and then re-elected as Prime Minister. Whitlam was vigorously opposed by the very conservative (right-wing, NeoLiberal) Liberal Party – the equivalent of the conservative Tory Party in England.
Below is what author Meaghan Delahunt has to say about how progressive politics in Australia was decapitated. Delahunt has uniquely experienced both the crushing Australian coup d’etat in 1975 and the equally crushing (and failed) Scottish Independence Referendum of 2014 (to gain independence from Great Britain). AMERICA’S ROAD FROM FREEDOM TO DESPOTISM
5aafc0a0-aeb0-11e3-93d2-12313b024af0-mediumWhat is Despotism? It is rule by a leader or a despot to where that person embraces a system of power that is unlimited. Other related words that have similar meanings are authoritarianism, dictatorship, totalitarianism and tyranny.
During the 20th century a number of countries around the world had rejected despotism in favor of democracy or a republic to where there would be greater freedom through constitutional protections, representation and self government by the people.
However, as nations entered into the final part of the 20th century and then later into the beginning of the 21rst century, greater shades of socialism began to gradually combine with capitalism which was designed as a mixed blueprint to provide more upward financial mobility for the lower classes, but secondly, and in the end, the plan would sadly act as a major set back and a framework for:
  • fewer civil rights,
  • open borders,
  • extravagant social programs,
  • multiculturalism,
  • high density housing,
  • sexual orientation,
  • corrupt courts,
  • Homeland Security,
  • drones,
  • FEMA Camps,
  • gun control,
  • censorship,
  • more regulatory agencies,
  • environmental fines and mandates,
  • International Building Codes and finally,
  • more taxation for the participation of wars abroad while expanding the police state.
    To accommodate such a vast mix of programs, a much larger budget and a greater form socialism would be needed to enhance and advance the elite’s desired outcome but not only in Europe but also in other parts of the world which of course included, yours truly, America.
    As time went on, hundreds upon hundreds of U.S. federal agencies and their unelected  and highly paid czars and employees began to rule the roost. But let’s not forget Washington D.C. and its premier connections which include the corporate lords, the U.N., the states, the counties, and the city governments . With that said, one can readily see that a massive centralized and socialized network of government has been formed right before our very eyes but remember its been for the “greater good” but with a cost…the loss of freedom.
For my final broadcast to the nation on the eve of Britain’s Independence Day, the BBC asked me to imagine myself as one of the courtiers to whom Her Majesty had recently asked the question, “In one minute, give three reasons for your opinion on whether my United Kingdom should remain in or leave the European Union.”
My three reasons for departure, in strict order of precedence, were Democracy, Democracy, and Democracy. For the so-called “European Parliament” is no Parliament. It is a mere duma. It lacks even the power to bring forward a bill, and the 28 faceless, unelected, omnipotent Kommissars – the official German name for the shadowy Commissioners who exercise the supreme lawmaking power that was once vested in our elected Parliament – have the power, under the Treaty of Maastricht, to meet behind closed doors to override in secret any decision of that “Parliament” at will, and even to issue ” that bypass it altogether.
Worse, the treaty that established the European Stability Pact gives its governing body of absolute bankers the power, at will and without consultation, to demand any sum of money, however large, from any member state, and every member of that governing body, personally as well as collectively, is held entirely immune not only from any civil suit but also from any criminal prosecution. An Idea To Express Your Displeasure Over Health Care Bill
1 Comment
by: Lynn Swearingen (c)copyright 2010
U.S. Dime
If one is upset over the Recent Vote on Health Care, Kevin “Coach” Collins has a pretty good idea today on the Collins Report.
“Stupak lied!
In the dust and fury of the past few days the brazenly cynical Mr. Stupak showed his middle finger to you. On Friday afternoon when it was sure to be lost in the noise, Stupak announced his price and it was a rather cheap one befitting the character of the man himself. His envelop held just $726,409 for improving three airports in his district. So there you have it, you were suckered.
Giving Judas what he deserves
Now it’s our turn to “slip a little something” to this sticky fingered Judas.
Since he’ll now be in a tough re-election fight he’ll need donations. I will be sending him my contribution of thirty dimes which will serve as the 30 pieces of silver his model settled for…”
Mr. Collins application is for a different reason than my own – I truly believe that the entire Health Care Bill is a massive spending bill disguised to destroy the very fabric of our Social and Economic Structure, however one can find much more eloquent dissertations elsewhere. I tend to be more straight forward and the concept of expressing my displeasure leans to the literal.
I will be sending my 30 dimes to my state Legislator who sold out at the last moment. Who knows why he chose to. As far as I know there is no big massive monetary reward waiting in the wings here.
I haven’t decided what message to include to ensure he understands. Perhaps
“It may be my obligation to forgive you for your treasonous actions, however you can ensure I will never forget. Spend this well Sir. Your opponent will be receiving 100 fold for his/her campaign.”
If one does choose to do express their displeasure, please do not forget to send dimes that were minted after 1965. Ones minted pre ’65 actually were made of silver and are worth more than a dime. Save your coins for trade if need be when the Dollar becomes useful for visits to the Lavatory versus the local big box store.
As the first year of the Obama Administration comes to a close, many questions remain about the mysteries of the so-called “dark side” of the “war on terror”.  No investigation by this administration of the Bush/Cheney administration exists, even though during his campaign the investigation was promised by Obama. Therefore some of the most serious questions to face this nation remain unsolved. Some wonder if some sort of a deal was struck by Bush and Obama in the Oval Office of the White House during the transition. Al Qaeda’s 9/11 terror attacks, after all, were on the Bush/Cheney watch the day everything changed, and began the trillion dollar war on terror. More
Democracy; Tool of Enslavement
“Remember, democracy never lasts long.  It soon wastes, exhausts and murders itself. There was never a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” – John Quincy Adams
Who among us can stand against democracy?  Isn’t it the most ideal form of government?  What better way is there to decide issues?  If a majority of the people want things to be a certain way, isn’t it right and proper that their preferences prevail especially when it affects their lives and how they live?  Surely the smaller number of people should not be allowed to dictate to the larger.  While all of this makes sense and is subscribed to by a majority of Americans, the simple truth of the matter is that such thinking, at best, is naïve and as stated by John Quincy Adams, a recipe for disaster.
Even a cursory analysis of the above kind of thinking reveals its inherent flaws.  For example, if the majority believe that it is okay to own slaves, should an issue of this nature be decided by a poplar vote?  Obviously no!  If the measure carried it would violate an individuals God given right to live free.
Clearly, it is wrong for the majority to possess the means to infringe upon and take away the rights of others even when they believe it is in their best interest.  More
What begins with the trappings of good will, respect and even love, can often disintegrate into petty differences, resentment and rising anger.  What starts out as mutual common ground in the building of a family, or the foundation for a country, can unravel if the common ground or the foundation is disturbed, distorted, or loses its meaning and significance.  When the spirit of love, or the spirit of freedom, that binds two people or a nation together, is fractured by forces that tear it asunder, marriages and nations begin to crumble.  And so it is, as the divide between Americans grows wider, as the principles of our freedom are eroded by the actions of those who seek more power over the masses and those who seek to live off the sweat of others, America is beginning to come apart at the seams, as the resentment towards opposing views becomes even more acrimonious.
Resentment turns to heated discussions.  Discussions turn to arguments and arguments turn to shouting and shouting can lead to violence.  This is the path that many a man and woman take as their union, once blessed by God, is shattered by their differences over culture, money, religion, politics, abnormal behavior, cheating, abandonment and sex.  This is the path our nation is taking, as cracks open wider in the foundation of our liberty.
Sometimes, marriages can be saved with counseling, but that only occurs when there exists the utmost good faith of the parties who seek reconciliation.  If there is no good faith, the union dies.  And thus, the union of states, our cherished America, is about to die, if good faith is absent and if there is no attempt to return it to the principles of freedom, upon which it was founded.
We have descended into a nation immersed in an arena of squabbles, some petty, some major.  We squabble over who gets their piece of the Treasury first and how much.  We fight like Hell to maintain “our share” and fight even harder to get more.  We squabble over going to war, even though foreign enemies camp outside our doors and send spies into our midst to kill us and severely damage our infrastructure and our economy, as happened on 9/11.  It will happen again, make no mistake.
For almost 100 years, we have let our government manipulate us while we looked the other way.  We have bought into the propaganda, hype, distortion and lies about the degree of compassion we owe to those less fortunate, with the degree decided by government, or the fraud that is man-caused global warming.  Way too many of us can’t wait to get “our share” of Nationalized Health Care that our government is going to shove down our throats, in spite of massive opposition and in spite of absolutely no constitutional governing authority to do so.  In allowing government to “buy” us off for a few pieces of silver, the chains that come with those few pieces, subject us to self-inflicted slavery. “A Culture Of Surveillance”: Big Brother is at your door!
by Chuck Baldwin
April 28, 2009
It is truly amazing how much news the American news media chooses to ignore. If one wants to discover what is actually going on in the world, he or she often has to go to the foreign press. This has again been the case with a story that every American should be extremely interested in, but which has been totally ignored by the American news media. I found this story in Russia Today.
According to RussiaToday.com, “The personal computer may soon be not-so-private, with the U.S. and some European nations working on laws allowing them access to search the content held on a person’s hard drive.
“President Obama’s administration is keeping unusually tight-lipped on the details, which is raising concerns among computer users and liberty activists.”
The report also states, “In extreme secrecy from the public, the United States is hammering out an international copyright treaty with several other countries and the European Union. Under the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (or ACTA), governments will get sweeping new powers to search and seize material thought to be in breach of copyright. But why all the secrecy?”
Russia Today quotes Richard Stallman, prominent American software freedom activist, as saying, “Democracy gets bypassed and they can do to us whatever they want. I can only guess that it’s going to be nasty, because if it weren’t going to be nasty, they wouldn’t need to keep it a secret.”
The report also said, “Up until now, the breach of copyright has been a civil matter. The Obama administration seems to now want to criminalize it.”
The report continued saying, “Some say modern America is being overtaken by a culture of surveillance.”
A culture of surveillance indeed. What began in earnest under former President George W. Bush is now sharply escalating under President Barack Obama.
According to Ecommerce Journal, President Obama and his Big Brother fellow travelers in Congress are seeking power to “cut the whole world off the Internet.” The report says, “Senators John Rockefeller and Olympia Snowe proposed the Cybersecurity Act that would create the Office of the National Cybersecurity Advisor. Its powers are detailed in the The Cybersecurity Act of 2009.
“If the President so chooses, he can call a ‘cybersecurity emergency’ and shut down or limit any ‘net traffic or a ‘critical’ network ‘in the name of national security,’ though the bill fails to provide concrete definitions on what is ‘critical’ or what constitutes an ’emergency.'”
The report goes on to say, “This new legislation seeks to give even more power to the government to regulate the Internet and, in future, the possibility to regulate content and usage. What begins as a method of defeating terrorism and protecting telecommunications, can quickly become a method to regulate ‘hate speech’ to assign ‘motive’ or ‘intent’ to harm and even to regulate and legislate the flow of information that is deemed by the ‘thought police’ to be inflammatory or counter-productive to their cause.”
The report says that the new cybersecurity legislation can be a “framework for future, more invasive legislation. It is a first step to the loss of internet privacy, free speech and the free flow of information.”
So, once again, the passing of a Republican Presidential administration and the advent of a Democratic Presidential administration have resulted in zero change in the overall direction of the ship of state. In the name of “national security,” the federal government of this country continues to deepen its commitment to what can only be described as a police-state mentality. And, once again, the national news media in America chooses to ignore the story, and by so doing, shows willful compliance with this disturbing phenomenon.
I wonder how many Obama supporters are paying attention?
During the Bush years, my “conservative” brethren (especially the ones calling themselves Christians) repeatedly turned a blind eye and deaf ear to the myriad foibles and falsehoods, and frequent fraudulence of President Bush because he was a Republican. Now we will see how many Obama supporters will look the other way in order to protect President Obama because he is a Democrat. I suspect most of them will show themselves of no better character than the Bush supporters.
Consider: Obama promised to end the war in Iraq. But what has he done since being elected? He merely moved the major combat theater to Afghanistan. He is even in the process of escalating the war in Afghanistan to possibly include Pakistan. So, where are the “peacenik” liberals who supported Obama? Why do they not loudly proclaim their opposition, as they did when Bush was in office?
Furthermore, Obama criticized Bush’s undisciplined deficit spending, but what has he done since becoming President? He has deeply expanded Bush’s failed financial policy of excessive deficit spending. Again, where are all the loud voices of protest?
George Bush wanted amnesty for illegal aliens. Barack Obama wants amnesty for illegal aliens. George Bush supported the assault weapons ban. Barack Obama supports the assault weapons ban. George Bush wanted to limit the legal rights of certain people charged with crimes. Well, friends, Barack Obama also wants to limit the rights of people charged with crimes.
Just last week, an Associated Press report stated, “The Obama administration is asking the Supreme Court to overrule long-standing law that stops police from initiating questions unless a defendant’s lawyer is present, another stark example of the White House seeking to limit rather than expand rights.
“The administration’s action–and several others–have disappointed civil rights and civil liberties groups that expected President Barack Obama to reverse the policies of his Republican predecessor, George W. Bush, after the Democrat’s call for change during the 2008 campaign.”
So, where are Obama’s supporters who thought they were voting for change? Will they do nothing, as did Bush’s supporters, and accept this abridgment of personal liberty, simply because “their man” is in the White House? Probably.
In addition, George Bush created a Big-Government monster known as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Can there be any doubt that DHS is in the process of manufacturing a ubiquitous surveillance society that eavesdrops, snoops, and monitors virtually our entire lives? And what does Barack Obama do immediately after assuming office? He multiplies and expands the surveillance society to even greater degrees. So again I ask, where are all the Bush critics to denounce Barack Obama’s draconian anti-privacy, anti-freedom policies?
The Internet is the last best source of free and independent information left. Think where the liberty movement would be without the Internet. But even as we speak, President Obama and his allies in Congress are attempting to obtain the authority to censor information on–and curtail access to–the Internet. Plus, in the name of “cybersecurity,” they are plotting to obtain the authority to monitor and seize anyone’s personal computer at will.
The Russia Today report is right: we do have a culture of surveillance. We also have a culture of cowardice by people from both sides of the political aisle who, in the name of partisan politics, are willfully accommodating and facilitating the demise of this constitutional republic.
Capitalism’s Self-inflicted Apocalypse
By Michael Parenti
February 10, 2009 “Information Clearinghouse” — After the overthrow of communist governments in Eastern Europe, capitalism was paraded as the indomitable system that brings prosperity and democracy, the system that would prevail unto the end of history.
The present economic crisis, however, has convinced even some prominent free-marketeers that something is gravely amiss. Truth be told, capitalism has yet to come to terms with several historical forces that cause it endless trouble: democracy, prosperity, and capitalism itself, the very entities that capitalist rulers claim to be fostering.
Plutocracy vs. Democracy
Let us consider democracy first. In the United States we hear that capitalism is wedded to democracy, hence the phrase, “capitalist democracies.” In fact, throughout our history there has been a largely antagonistic relationship between democracy and capital concentration. Some eighty years ago Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis commented, “We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can’t have both.” Moneyed interests have been opponents not proponents of democracy.
The Constitution itself was fashioned by affluent gentlemen who gathered in Philadelphia in 1787 to repeatedly warn of the baneful and dangerous leveling effects of democracy. The document they cobbled together was far from democratic, being shackled with checks, vetoes, and requirements for artificial super majorities, a system designed to blunt the impact of popular demands.
These words are written for those illegal immigrants who Sen. Harry Reid is determined to give amesty.  These are the people we are supposed to feel sorry for and who  claim they only want a better life.  These are the people determined to take what is left of our country from us.
The disrespect, the absolute contempt is unforgivable.
No sympathy: No Amnesty
These three pargraphs are the closing of this article by  Ernesto Cienfuegos, La Voz de Aztlan
http://www.aztlan.net/index.html on the pro-Atzalan website.
“To our beloved community in Aztlan, prepare yourselves. The US Empire is going down but their is no reason we should go down with them. The US system may be already too decayed to save. There is very little difference between the two ruling parties. They are allowed to take turns governing to give the impression that there is real “democracy” in the empire. The party conventions you saw in Denver and the “twin cities” were mere “dog and pony shows”. The Plan de Aztlan hit it right on the mark when it stated that the Democratic and Republican parties are “the same animal with two heads that feed from the same trough.”
The “trough” in the above statement refers to the international banking families that have no allegiance to any nation and who control the Federal Reserve Board and thorough it the monetary system of the USA. They manipulate the economy by setting interest rates and by controlling how much money should be printed. This controls the worth of the printed money which has been losing value because of inflation. If the Federal Reserve Board prints 700 billion dollars as proposed by the bailout, in a few months you will be paying possibly 12 dollars for a loaf of bread. They buy congressman and senators in order to pass laws beneficial to their interests. That is how the Savings and Loan scam was accomplished and how they intend to perpetuate the current scam that is in the making.
Let the naive so call “patriots” suffer for their ignorance. Most of them believe in UFOs and in Big Foot and some still believe there is gold at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Next time you hear “twilight’s last gleaming”, know that it is for them and not for us! (end snip)
Oekoman is an economist of thirty-two years. He has spent his entire career in the building industry working in a capacity that allows him to witness daily the inner workings of the so-called ‘free’ market. Oekoman studied at US and French universties earning his Economics degree in 1976. He is bi-lingual. He supports and promotes green building and tries to incorporate green principles in every project on which he is assigned. He has built high rises in the US and Africa. He is a committed to left wing policies and strongly believes in a regulated market with emphasis on equalizing income distribution and strong social programs. Oekoman believes that Friedman’s economic philospophy is a scam and that Friedman was chosen by the right wingers as their mouthpiece simply because he equated democratic freedoms with market freedoms, a fallacious argument that has misled America into a blind faith in a deregulated ‘free’ market that has in turn led to oligoply and monopoly, the very antithesis of the free market as envisioned by Adam Smith.
Police Provoke Violence at SPP Protest in Canada (video included)
Where were the protests by Americans over the SPP meeting in New Orleans in April, 2008?  While Canadians fight back……….we sit back.  While Canadians protest, we just conform.  There is a lesson to be learned from watching this video.    Marti
For those unfamiliar with the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) there is good information at http://www.canadians.org/ :
The protest at Montebello, Quebec was the SPP Meeting of August 2007.  Following the Montebello meeting,
On April 21, 2008, Prime Minister Stephen Harper traveled to New Orleans to attend the fourth annual North American Leaders’ Summit to discuss progress to the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) with his American and Mexican counterparts. It has been four years since this process began, and no one beyond an elite group of corporate CEOs has been asked how they feel about the SPP—until now.
Not Counting Canadians: The Security and Prosperity Partnership and public opinion
From April 7–10, 2008, the Council of Canadians commissioned Environics Research Group to conduct a survey of Canadians to find out how they feel about the major SPP policy directions and initiatives, including North American regulatory convergence, energy integration with the United States, bulk water exports, and the adoption of U.S.-style security measures in Canada. We also asked whether such a wide-reaching trilateral agreement should be brought to Parliament for a debate and vote.
Download the full report, Not Counting Canadians : The Security and Prosperity Partnership and public opinion (PDF 1.78 MB), or follow the links below:
87% of Canadians agree that Canada should maintain the ability to set its own independent environmental, health and safety standards, even if this might reduce cross-border trade opportunities with the United States. And yet the Harper government is committed to an SPP policy of regulatory harmonization in the areas of consumer product safety, food and drugs, and the environment.
89% of Canadians agree that Canada should establish an energy policy that provides reliable supplies of oil, gas and electricity at stable prices and protects the environment, even if this means placing restrictions on exports and foreign ownership of Canadian supplies. And yet the Harper government is committed to a “market-based” policy of energy integration with the U.S. through the SPP’s North American Energy Working Group.
88% of Canadians agree that Canada should adopt a comprehensive national water policy that recognizes clean drinking water as a basic human right and also bans the bulk export of fresh water. And yet bulk water exports to the U.S. are on the table in SPP discussions.
48% of Canadians do not feel that Canada should harmonize its security policies with the United States, even if this affects our trading relationship. It was the only question on which Canadians were divided. And yet the 2008 Federal budget committed millions of extra dollars to SPP security initiatives anyway.
86% of Canadians agree that the Security and Prosperity Partnership agreement should be debated and submitted to a vote in Parliament. Yet four years later, the debate is nowhere to be seen.
Canadian preferences for policies that run counter to the key SPP priorities listed above show conclusively that Prime Minister Harper does not have a democratic mandate for pursuing this agenda in secretive trilateral talks like the upcoming North American leaders summit in New Orleans. The government must cease all further SPP talks and debate the agreement fully and openly before submitting it to Parliament for a vote.
