Dairy farming tragedy

Copake – For hours, the backhoe and bulldozer worked at the grim task, burying the remains of a Gothic farming tragedy.

The backhoe’s large metal claws dug into the dirt and opened a long, deep trench in the fertile Columbia County soil, pocked with cow dung and the deep imprints of 1,500-pound Holstein hooves.

There was no delicate way to bury these 51 beasts. The bulldozer’s heavy, flat blade pushed the cows into the mass bovine grave, their striking black-and-white patterned hides gone slack in death.

For years, they had provided a livelihood for a dairyman who said little and bent to his arduous task generally alone, rarely saying much to neighbors, preferring to keep to himself.

Ont. farmer toasts victory in raw milk trial with glass of the contentious drink

By Ciara Byrne, The Canadian Press

NEWMARKET, Ont. – Clutching a glass of raw milk, an emotional Michael Schmidt toasted what he called a victory for the local food movement Thursday after the Ontario dairy farmer was found not guilty of 19 charges related to selling unpasteurized milk.

“People need to learn how to stand up even when it seems it’s impossible to achieve change in our interpretation of the law,” said Schmidt, who was often depicted by supporters as the small farmer fighting for consumer food rights against an established milk industry.

In a legal battle that played out over three years, Schmidt fought to continue the operation of his 150-member raw milk co-operative in Durham, Ont., and defended himself against the charges for dispensing milk straight from the cow.

Schmidt was charged under the Health Protection and Promotion Act and the Milk Act after an armed raid by about two dozen officers and government officials at his farm in 2006. More

WHOLE FOOD USA  has established a Facebook group to unify the support for Wisconsin Dairy Farmers as the state Agriculture Department has begun systematically closing their businesses down and prosecuting those who refuse to comply with provisions of Codex Alimentarius codified into state code and statute by the agency.  This is an unelected bureacracy which granted itself the power to conduct search and seizure of private property without warrant or cause and no oversight.

Scott Trautman says enough: Chaining himself to WI Governor’s mansion, food & water strike 4pm Christmas Eve

Hello everyone,

This was not what I intended to do this Christmas. This is not making my family, my wife, three young children, happy one tiny bit.
But the evil in Wisconsin is so great, the intensity of pressure on our farm so massive, I am left with no other option.
Cheryl Daniels and Jackie Owens of Rod Nuelstein’s DATCP, Department of Ag Trade & Consumer Protection, Food Safety division, has attempted to torment us over the past two months, trying to make me shut up about the illegality, the scandal, the misuse of power up there. Their plan is to intimidate, and they have succeeded in removing, unjustly, our last ability to make a living: our meat licenses. Which of course I am welcome to appeal: To Rod Nuelstein. How do you think that’s going to go? When do you think he’ll make time for that? That is but one indication of how out of wack – out of control — non-democratic – that agency is. The meat licenses have nothing to do with their Raw Milk case. There is but one purpose: shut Scott Trautman up. Their arrogance is incredible.

Our media has a limited attention span, which Rod understands, and has used: to sound great in the word, but no one follows up to see just what he does.
Perhaps a farmer chaining himself to the governor’s MANSION and refusing all food and water will be enough of a “media event” to bring the proper light to this situation.

I am not asking anyone to join me at this time, I do not desire to ruin the holidays of good people everywhere — but I will be ‘on the wall’ for as long as it takes.

I am ashamed of our Governor, Doyle, whom I was under the illusion was a friend to the people of Wisconsin. Turns out he’s just another scumbag politician.

Please pray for me and my family. We WILL endure, we WILL see a bright future for Wisconsin, we WILL have our New Golden Age of Dairy in Wisconsin.

Two years ago, Californians stood up and fought back against government collusion with coporate interests and fought back against a bill meant to end fresh/raw milk sales.
On October 8, 2007 AB 1735 was signed into law in California. This law did nothing to protect anyone, as it purported, but did everything to limit the rights of consumers in California. Had it been allowed to stand, raw milk would have dried up as of January 1, 2008. An emergency bill was written as a response and on January 16, 2008, Assemblymembers Nicole Parra (D), Mike Villines (R), and Tom Berryhill (R) demanded AB 1735 be changed by enacting AB 1604. Raw milk supporters turned out in droves and in a few short hours, democracy prevailed and raw milk drinkers and producers were protected. The following video shows history in the making.” More

“In my considered opinion: Anyone telling you to sit down and shut up; anyone telling you they are “negotiating” your God-given right to conduct a lawful business: anyone using access to funds as leverage in an effort to control your response to these assaults, should be carefully considered.  You need to be asking yourself; “Who are these people really working for?”

A recent email I received from a gentleman in Wisconsin spoke of having to choose his alliances carefully.  Seems he had been admonished by someone in a group he was part of, to steer clear of other groups who might have the same goals in mind, but a different methodology of getting there.  Those who differed with his groups’ methodology should be avoided at all costs!  My new correspondent was taking this advice into consideration as he also considered the fact the person giving it was holding the purse strings on the account used to pay the lobbyist who supposedly was working on behalf of the group he belongs to.

During this back and forth I was asked what I thought of selecting only a few individuals to go in front of the December 17th meeting on the two pending dietary licensing bills in Madison: SB115 AND AB440   as opposed to mobilizing a state wide effort and showing up en masse to confront the DATCP board so intent on stripping away their rights.

The Truth behind the drive to outlaw raw/fresh milk sales or:

How the USDA and the federal government are actively working to end family and independent dairy farming for corporate interests.

 The BUSINESS OF CULLEN AGRITECH:

 Business Overview– Pg. 6

Cullen Agritech is a newly formed company formed in June 2009 committed to the development and commercialization of advanced agricultural technologies. Cullen Agritech’s principal focus will be to improve agricultural yields through pasture and animal sciences. Cullen Agritech’s primary operations will be conducted through Natural Dairy Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Cullen Agritech, through which it will attempt to engage in a long term scalable dairy farming operation utilizing the Cullen Agritech farming system in the Southeastern United States. Cullen Agritech will also offer advisory services associated with the development and implementation of efficient farming techniques. This will promote a methodology that incorporates components of New Zealand’s pasture-based farming system, scientifically adapted for use in local markets.” (end clip)

The new technology being promoted by Cullen- New Zealand is simply what farmers have done for thousands of years; the moving of their livestock routinely to fresh pastures making sure ample water was made available to them and incidentally; reducing the number and amount of toxic chemicals, vaccines, hormones and additives required to be used in private operations.  While there certainly is a scientific soundness to this practice, it most assuredly is nothing new. So where would the “scientific” application of what is commonly understood to be the best management practices of dairy herding, be applied?  And how?  And how could you rationalize the re-designation of traditional dairy farming methods as something new and innovative and apply for and receive a patent on that method?  WE WILL BE THERE.

I am offering my services as a speaker for the Constitution Party and to spread the word of what is happening to our freedoms.  These are the matters that I am running for; to defend and protect the Constitution of the United States, and the Wisconsin state constitution, from all enemies …Foreign AND Domestic!

I am sending out letters of support to every one I know in the state.  We have to let people know what our socialist government is doing and HAS been doing for a long time.

This isn’t the work of just one of the parties but of both of them.  It’s all about power and greed. Our so called representatives get that by helping the friends in the BIG-FARM industry.  We know where the campaign funds come from.

To quote :

“Raw milk is not inherently dangerous, as DATCP, the FDA and Big Ag would like you to believe.  But, as with all foods, it’s how it’s produced that matters. We little guys pasture our animals, feed and treat them organically, and many of us use no grains.  The Big Guys can’t do that.  They confine their animals, pump them full of hormones and antibiotics, and feed them garbage – literally, like bakery waste and distillers grains (the stuff left over after producing alcohol or ethanol).  That milk IS dangerous.  Our isn’t.  But as you can guess, it’s about control and monopolization.”

I consider this to be the real problem in our health care today; processed foods devoid of nutrition and filled with toxins resulting from industrialized corporate farming.

I am also mobilizing support for Pat and Melissa Monchilovich of Cumberland, WI.  This too is wrong and is in direct violation of the state of Wisconsin Constitution, guaranteeing allodial property rights i.e., [absolute ownership.  Not bound to render service to any other body or person.]

Premises ID is a contract conveying a change of title of ownership to the USDA acting as agent for the federal government.  It is a contractual surrendering and abandonment of private property and the allodial property rights of the sovereign individual. A report on their case is found here.

I am putting up on my website a petition that people can fill out, so we

can present it in Max’s and the Monchilovichs’ cases.  Please look for it

at:   www.robtaylorforsenate.com/farmers_need_us.php.

It will be there before 12 noon CST today 11/21/09. Please direct people

you know to it.

Wisconsin: Dairy farmers told to remain silent

0511-0904-2714-0784To: Wisconsin Dairy Farmers:

You might want to look into the anti-trust lawsuit filed in October of this year on behalf of dairy farmers in the northeast facing the same situations you are: and Wisconsin is mentioned in this suit.  Its not all that needs to be done, but it is a starting point and one I am sure no one told you about no matter how many times you hit the “donate” button.

In response to the alert listed below, sent to the Vice President of WICFA, a request was made to gather all the support we could for Wisconsin dairy farmers who have been relentlessly harassed by the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and their constantly changing regulations that have no other intent than to disrupt the dairy farming industry in order to force compliance to unconstitutional and unlawful regulations.  Citizens Committee  link.

The PPJ Alliance took this seriously and we answered this call for support.  At the eleventh hour, this same organization sending this Action Alert out, and a national foundation along with a few locals…….pulled the rug out from under the dairy farmers and called off any public protest of DATCP and their police state policies.

I suspect there is far more to this than the dairy men are aware of.  No media, no news coverage, no public attention to what is happening?  And in fact, you were all told NOT to show up at a public meeting?

It seems to me there is a possibility that something was in the works you dairy folk aren’t supposed to know about…….and now that we here at the PPJ acted on your behalf……it appears some are suggesting we be the targeted scapegoat for what could be a process still in negotiations……just waiting for the right time to drop the gavel.

That’s just my opinion of course.  Time will tell.  For those who might believe they will use us to explain their failure to yield positive results…….we’re waiting.

Marti Oakley

UPDATE:  It is being suggested by people who were not in attendance at the Madison meeting that those who were there raged, stomped their feet and acted irrationally.

Those who were in attendance reported that the meeting was civil and well received…….there was no bad behavior exhibited by anyone on either side. More

I once wanted to live in Wisconsin and be a dairy farmer there. Now I see it is the only worse thing I could have done than remain in Minnesota and be a small family dairy farmer here.

I see you have mentioned Organic Valley. I used to sell milk there, until they wiped me out.

They started out by sending a big truck with illegal tires to pick up milk in winter, and when the truck, with those bald tires, had difficulty in my yard, they blamed me. I put up with the abuse because the ‘organic premium’ for milk was so necessary for our survival as a farm. Then they went with semi-trucks which do not fit in a small farmyard.

Everything always had to be clear, no room for anything but the big semi and its precious (to them) oversized payload. Talk about a major hassle! Even a 1″ snowfall bogged them down and of course, who did they (Organic Valley) blame? They blamed me. More

Part 2

In Part 1 of this series I addressed what appears to be the participation of the State of Georgia, its Extension services and Land Grant universities in conjunction with New Zealand Dairy Management Systems and Cullen Agritech, along with several other newly created investment collectives, and individuals.

The planned eradication of private dairy operations being practiced in Georgia will be the model used to seize all land useful for dairying, across the southeastern U.S.  Once this model begins systematically being put in place in the Southeastern states, the elimination of dairy herds in the rest of the nation will begin in earnest.  All milk will be produced in this one geographical area.

It appears that not only is there a concerted effort afoot in Georgia to convert dairy production to an industrialized corporate complex, but at the same time a massive battle is being fought in the northeast by small and independent dairy producers being driven out of business by corporate mergers designed to prevent them from conducting their businesses, forcing this market into industrialization.
