“When wild horse advocates contacted the BLM with questions about my article and the sales of wild horses to Jim Reeves of Spur Livestock, Debbie Collins, BLM’s “Information Center Coordinator” sent an inaccurate reply……….

___________________________________________________________________

In what could be the “perfect storm,” my last 2 articles tied together, because those busy bees in BLM made a feeble attempt to disparage my article about Spur Livestock (which has a BLM contract for a wild horse long term holding pasture and is co-owned by Jim Reeves) selling wild horses to a kill buyer and also seemed to illustrate points I made in my article about BLM public relations manipulation.

When wild horse advocates contacted the BLM with questions about my article and the sales of wild horses to Jim Reeves of Spur Livestock, Debbie Collins, BLM’s “Information Center Coordinator” sent an inaccurate reply (portions below).   Debbie Collins’ comments are in black.

My clarification is in red.

Debbie Collins (BLM)

: “The BLM did sell 72 horses to Jim Reeves, of Spur Livestock, in 2008.

DEBBIE COFFEY

:  That’s what I said.

Debbie Collins

:  The BLM sold him 36 geldings on September 9, 2008, from the Palomino Valley Facility in Sparks, NV and 36 mares on September 23, 2008, from the Canon City Correctional Center in Canon City, CO.”

You’ve got it backwards.  On 9/9/2008, Jim Reeves bought 36 geldings, ages 11-13, from the Canon City Maintenance Facility (prison) in Colorado and on 9/23/2008, Jim Reeves bought 36 mares, ages 11-12, from the BLM’s Palomino Valley holding facility in Nevada.

“The White Horse long-term pasture is an all-gelding facility; therefore, it would not have been possible to sell him mares from the White Horse gelding facility.”

It doesn’t matter what facility the wild horses came from.  The BLM states that they do not sell our wild horses to slaughter, but their contractor sure did.

“Since Mr. Reeves is a partner in Spur Livestock, he was strongly advised that any wild horses he purchased had to be kept completely separate from the wild horses in the White Horse long-term pasture.”

Nowhere in my article did I say the wild horses he bought WERE in the same long term pastures as wild horses, or that they were kept “together.” More

“Why shouldn’t we write or call our Congressmen and BLM management officials?   American soldiers fought and died so that you would be free to do this.  BLM POLICIES are set at THE TOP by Congress, and by Secretary Ken Salazar of the Department of the Interior, and by Bob Abbey, Director of the Bureau of Land Management.  Call and write to them. “

A Bureau of Land Management (BLM) News Release (the BLM seems to be using the word “news” loosely here) dated 5/28/10 with Lisa Reid and Dean Bolstad listed as contacts, was a BLM announcement of the final public tours at Indian Lakes Wild Horse Facility.

This BLM release states: “Indian Lakes is a privately-owned and operated  facility, was never intended as a public facility and isn’t staffed to serve the public.  As a result, staff from other offices have been taken away from priority work and unplanned costs have been incurred.”

The most important question is “WHY would a government agency use OUR money to put something publicly owned (OUR wild horses) on PRIVATE PROPERTY, where we can NEVER HAVE ACCESS to them again?”  Isn’t this like stealing?

I filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and asked for a list of staff taken from other offices, for a list of the priority work they were taken away from and for a list of and the amount of money spent on the “unplanned costs.”  I received a letter from Paulette L. Sanford of the Department of the Interior dated 10/6/2010, and was told “There is no itemized list or record of the amount of money spent on the unplanned cost” and “there is no list or record of staff who were detailed to work at the Indian Lakes Facility away from their priority work.”    More

BLM Violates Own Safety Policies to Dazzle New York Times

SUSANVILLE, CA (SFTHH) – For weeks the Bureau of Land Management(BLM) has kept the American public and concerned citizens at extreme distances from the wild horse trapping operations at the Twin Peaks helicopter stampede.  Each morning observers must tolerate a law enforcement briefing by BLM Security Chief Jason Parker who clearly states that the public will be held back from the private land, where the trap is located, due to safety and liability issues and should anyone not comply, “things will be escalated to the next level”.  Today that changed when the BLM allowed a New York Times photographer to not only locate himself on the private land but to be within the chute of the trap and exposed to both the horses and the aggressive, low altitude helicopter.

Horseback Magazine photographer, Terry Fitch,  unknowingly captured a shot of the New York Times photographer right in the middle of the stampede while both herself and press credentialed reporter Laura Leigh, who’s credentials are recognized by a Federal Judge, were held at arm’s length over one half mile away and not granted access to the operations site on public land. A Working Man’s Perspective on the BLM BS

You see it on their website, you hear it in the mainstream press, you get slammed with it on social networks; the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is launching a professionally orchestrated propaganda campaign that is aimed at subverting the First Amendment while pumping John Q. Public’s mind full of misinformation and twisted facts.  “Well, if it comes from the government and you see it in print it has to be right, right?” – WRONG!

Recently Debbie Collins, spokesperson for the BLM, issued an email that simply makes you think that Rod Serling is going to walk around the corner at any moment and say, “Welcome to the Twilight Zone”, it’s just that bizarre.  The truth is a very bitter pill for the BLM to swallow and one of the biggest sources of truth on the internet are independent blogs and comments on social networks.  Some of the biggest customers to most of the “Bad Blogs”, as dubbed by the BLM in a secret report several months ago, are actual employees of the BLM themselves.  Most of these wanna be cowboys, or girls, don’t have enough computer savvy to realize that a lot of us know how to ping IP addresses and can easily see that a large majority of the hits have a very familiar “blm.gov” component in them.

So in a nutshell; the free and knowledgeable voice of the American public is a very scary force to those who know that they are operating outside of the spirit of the law. More

“In effect our Government has ceded millions of acres of our federal lands to the Mexican Drug Cartels who have also taken control of many counties in Texas, New Mexico and at least three Arizona counties, endangering American lives and is encroaching on our national sovereignty.”

See Border Wilderness is just too dangerous for the public use.  Click on or Google:

The United States no longer controls many of our Wilderness Areas, National Parks, Monuments, Wildlife Refuges, Gunnery Ranges, Military Reservations, State Lands and provides little or no security to private land owners along our southern border. Because according to U.S. law enforcement drug cartels now control these areas. More

RENO, Nev. – A Nevada district attorney is considering whether to file criminal charges against federal land managers who are accused by animal rights activists of mistreating wild horses in a roundup.

Churchill County Sheriff Richard Ingram said his department began an investigation May 20 after an activist filed a complaint alleging that mustangs were abused and neglected at a holding facility.

U.S. Bureau of Land Management officials confirmed that 83 of some 1,900 horses brought there in a government roundup have died. More
