The letter below was received from Rep. Collin Peterson, 7th District, Minnesota.  Peterson’s 1267436152letter details his love of gmo’s and his belief that no science exist to substantiate the claims that gmo is harmful to human health.  With numerous countries around the world banning the use of gmo seeds, the importing of gmo products into their countries, and the massive number of scientific studies that were actually done to document the threat to the environment and public health that these frankenfood creations are causing, it appears Mr. Peterson is oblivious to all.  Makes you wonder what planet this guy is on.

Mr. Peterson’s comments are in black.

My responses are in blue.

Dear Mr. Oakley:

Thank you for contacting my office about genetically engineered foods. I appreciate hearing from you.

Dear Mr. Peterson:  I doubt that you appreciate hearing from me or anyone else who isn’t on the bio-piracy wagon.  I am fully aware that this is a very lucrative association for you , not only politically, but personally as well.

Since the first genetically engineered crops became commercially available in the mid-1990s, U.S. soybean, cotton, and corn farmers have rapidly adopted them.

Farmers have not rapidly adopted genetically engineered crops unless you considered being coerced, bullied, terrorized, threatened with lawsuits or finding that bio-pirates such as Monsanto have monopolized the market and have the Supreme Court of The United States firmly in their pocket and also a cushy little seat in the White House to protect their interests, willing adoption of these crops.

Since that time there has been no scientific evidence suggesting that these crops are harmful. More

New Zealand law mirrors US and Canada, fake food safety bills

It comes as no surprise that the fake food safety bill passed here in the US in what was clearly a staged event that required the complicity of the other 99 Senators who voluntarily vacated the US Senate chamber to allow  “Dirty Harry” to cast the only vote as “unanimous” is being mirrored, replicated and implemented in many other countries. Canada passed its C-36 bill shortly after “Dirty Harry” completed his task here in the US, and now it appears New Zealand food rights are on the chopping block too.

What are the chances that New Zealand Retailers Association would come up with what appears to be a line of propaganda nearly identical to the crap foisted on the American public as their rights to produce and consume foods of their choice were attacked relentlessly by Big AG and the bio-pirates along with other corporate interests who stand to profit immensely at the expense of the public? These are the same interested party’s and stakeholders who rammed C-36 through Canada’s parliament.

And here we see the same limp arguments coming out of New Zealand, promoted by yet another retailers association intent on convincing New Zealanders that their food supply and production, needs “modernization”. Modernization with regards to food can be easily defined as centralization of food production and supply to provide market monopolies to multi-national corporations.  The greatest threat to food supply chains around the world is industrialized food which provides neither safe food, nor nutritious food.   Progress on the food bill: More

Corporations contaminating agriculture

‘A problem arises as a result of family farmers and ranchers not having the bags of cash needed to dump into USDA and FDA to buy access as the bio-pirates do.”

___________________________________________

While Homeland Security continues to claim that we must not centralize agricultural production because some terrorist might then poison vast quantities of our food supply, the USDA and FDA continue to rig the system in favor of corporate agricultural producers who are doing that very thing.  Maybe they get away with this because what these global corporations are producing can’t really be classified as food, or at least not as food we would recognize as fit for human consumption.

Let me make this perfectly clear: there is no unnamed terrorist in a cave on the other side of the world salivating over the idea of contaminating a corn field in Iowa.  We know who the terrorists are, and they all have the word, “Corporation” attached to their names.  And they aren’t in caves either; many have very nice and spacious offices right inside the USDA and FDA.

While biotechnology is touted as being the answer to the world’s food requirements, no one has stopped to ask why all this tampering with, mother nature was necessary in the first place.  Biotechnology has not caused an increase in food supplies as the bio-pirates claimed it would.  In fact, supposedly a world-wide food crisis is building and a larger percentage of people around the world suffer from hunger and starvation.  Now, one of two things has to be true here if there is actually a food shortage.

  1. Biotechnology does not increase production as claimed or,
  2. Food is being intentionally withheld from various populations.

Neither thought bodes well for the bio-pirates.  More

Food shortages: Creating a crisis to force global food control

Apparently the plan is to defile the land, livestock and food supplies and then starve us into accepting some food-like product that has no nutritional value and that may also be a hazard to our health.

A shortage of food is being intentionally staged around the world.  Apparently, if we resist the theft and seizure of food production and supply by bio-pirates and facilitated by government puppets, we will be intentionally starved into submission.  Threats of the food shortage are constantly launched into “lame stream media” as a warning to the rest of us that we had better comply or face the fate of those poorer nations where millions are suffering from famine or death from lack of food.  More

A citizens Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Government – MOU #5 : Food Safety

” That S.510 and its companion bill S.3767 (meant to criminalize the ownership of land and livestock) constitutes an act of terrorism, emanating from our own government against a selected and targeted segment of the nation on behalf of foreign interests, regulations, agreements, corporate interests and most especially Codex Alimentarius.”

______________________________________________

Greetings:

Consider this a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to all members of the Senate, all members of the House, and to President Obama.  I am sure you are fully aware of the intent and implications of MOUs, as each of you, in one way or another, uses them to establish the outlining of agreements between yourselves, collectively or individually, concerning the agreements you have made with individuals acting as state’s representatives or agencies, or with corporate stakeholders; generally to avoid Constitutional prohibitions on your intended actions and in avoidance of the Constitution.  I am using it in quite another fashion as you will see in the following text.

For you, MOUs are the terms and agreements of what, are in fact the first step in contractual agreements. MOUs are most often accompanied by cooperative agreements and funding (bribes) to implement what generally turns out to be egregious assaults to civil rights and liberties to the benefit of the federal government, linked so inextricably to corporate interests and global agreements.

Consider what follows a Memorandum of Understanding between me, Marti J. Oakley, and all of you, collectively cited in the above paragraph.

To Wit:

We (you and I) agree that each and every one of you holds your office as a result of election. And, that as a result of your victory and subsequent oath of office, you were expected to actually represent the people who put their faith and trust in you.  The fact is you have violated this oath at every opportunity regardless of which party you claim allegiance to or which political philosophy you espouse at any given time.

In light of a profound understanding of how you have used and abused this trust and faith, I need you to understand how I (we) perceive you, i.e., your activities, your betrayals of these United States of America, your pandering to corporate interests, your illegal agreements with foreign governments and interests and ultimately what appears to be a very concerted effort to destroy our country and to convert the same into a region in some coveted global plantation.

Because the instances of your acts against the people are so numerous, in this MOU, I will address only these issues:  S.510 and S. 3767, (collectively) the so-called food safety bills which have appeared under multiple numbers and names, proposed and submitted by various members of the Senate and House.

Please consider this Memorandum of Understanding No. 5.

Please be advised that no cooperative agreement with the anticipated funding (bribe money) will be forthcoming.  You may consider this an “Unfunded Mandate” in the sense that I will never contribute one dime to the re-election efforts of any one of you.  “We” in the following text means “WE THE PEOPLE.”

I (We) understand:

A)  The consideration of S.510 The Food Safety Modernization Act, or whatever name this assault on the public is currently being submitted as; and its companion bill S.3767Food Safety Accountability Act of 2010, (a bill which clearly criminalizes independent and family farming and ranching and one which constitutes a direct act of aggression against the people emanating from government), was preceded by the passage in the House of HR 2749 in 2009;  a bill euphemistically titled “Food Safety Act,”; an act that was nothing short of an assault on the food production and supply on behalf of: More

Africa: up for grabs The scale and impact of land grabbing for agrofuels

Friends of the Earth Africa and Friends of the Earth Europe | 30 August 2010

The farming system developed shall respect ecological limits, not lead to climate changing emissions, depletion of the soil and prevent the exhaustion of water supplies. Such systems naturally forbid the use of genetically modified crops or trees.

Executive summary

Access to land provides food and livelihoods for billions of people around the world, but as the availability of fertile land and water is threatened by climate change, mismanagement and consumption patterns, demand for land has been increasing.

“Land grabs” – where land traditionally used by local communities is leased or sold to outside investors (from corporations and from governments) are becoming increasingly common across Africa. Whilst many of these deals are for food cultivation, there is a growing interest in growing crops for fuel – agrofuels – particularly to supply the growing EU market.

These land grabs have been taking place against a backdrop of rising food prices which led to the food crisis in 2008. There were food riots in some developing countries and in Haiti and Madagascar the governments were overthrown as a result of the crisis. Crops being used for agrofuels was a major factor in the rising price of food. More

Bill C-474 will require:  “an analysis of potential harm to export markets be conducted before the sale of any new genetically engineered seed is permitted.”

The industry is putting an all-out effort into defeating the Bill.

PLEASE:  Lucy is asking for another round of fire.  We can deliver it.  It only takes a minute of our time individually.  Scroll down.

BACKGROUND FOR NEWCOMERS:

This is pretty simple and pretty much common sense.  Europeans will not accept shipments of wheat or flax (for example) if it is contaminated with GE (genetically – engineered) seeds.

Buyers of Canadian grain get angry when they buy contaminated product, witness the recent case of “Triffid” GE flax. Farmers lose big markets.  The GE contamination is now a huge on-going cost to everyone.

It isn’t a widely-known issue in Canada because we lost the battle to require labeling of GE food products.  The money of the chem. – biotech industry bought, among others, the Consumers Association in that battle.

The Europeans won the labeling battle.   But the chem-biotech corporations do not respect the wishes or the interests of the population.  Instead, they have been trying for years now to force GE crops into Europe.

Nor does the Govt of Canada respect the wishes of the Europeans (or of Canadians).  The Govt of Canada launches legal actions through the WTO (World Trade Organization) against the Europeans, on behalf of the industry, claiming unfair trade practices.  More

An extraordinary crime: The senseless killing of 700 Elk in Minnesota

elkby Marti Oakley (C) 2009

When I read that a prized herd of 700 elk in southeastern Minnesota was being destroyed by sharpshooters under the employ of the USDA, I just couldn’t help but wonder what was really going on.  Supposedly, from all published accounts, a dead cow had tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease.  This supposedly occurred in January of 2009 and the herd has been quarantined since that time.  In my opinion, this is what the elk herd really suffered from:

Chronic, “These elk are in the way of our new investment and building plans; help us get rid of them” disease.

TOWER INVESTMENTS UNVEILS PLANS FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY CENTER AT ELK RUN FACILITY.

Intro from this publication: (excerpted)

Pine Island, Minn. – (June 18, 2008) Tower Investments, LLC announced today at the Bio2008 International Convention in San Diego, Calif., plans for the Biotechnology Center at Elk Run (BCER) research, development and manufacturing facility. The center is a nonprofit organization committed to the development of biotechnology firms, technologies and services. Its first home—part of the 200-acre BioBusiness Park at Elk Run—is the first building slated for construction as part of the 2,325-acre master planned Elk Run development. (end excerpt)

Unfortunately for Tower Investments, a herd of 700 elk stood in the way of their grand scheme.  Actually, the herd represented a minor nuisance as Tower Investments immediately began working with local Representative, (D) Tim Walz which proved quite beneficial. More

Despite some really eloquent speeches to the contrary, our “for sale” House of Representatives passed the Food Fascism Act….euphemistically called a food safety act, by a margin of about 140 over the naysayer’s.

True to form, Rosa DeLauro spoke about things she knows nothing about and couldn’t care less;  Rosa just loves her some Monsanto!

And that exclusion for farms???  Gone!  And that includes you organic idiots who thought you had kissed enough behinds to have your industry excluded.

The newly revised bill that appeared overnight after the original was defeated 29th of July, now includes all those farms we were told would not be affected by this legislation.  Of course those big agri-corporations made out like bandits.  Biopiracy is going to have a profitable future thanks to the political whore’s in congress we call our representatives.  More

USDA Poised to Approve Widespread, Risky Field Trial of GE Trees

On Wed, 7/1/09, Center for Food Safety

office@centerforfoodsafety.org

The biotechnology firm ArborGen has asked the USDA for permission to conduct 29 field trials of genetically engineered “cold tolerant” eucalyptus trees in the U.S. For the first time in history, this massive experiment, which is on the verge of being green-lighted, will literally be using nature as the laboratory to test more than 260,000 genetically engineered trees. Scientists across the U.S. are voicing concerns over this proposal.

As it did with GE alfalfa, USDA failed to conduct and prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to comprehensively address all the relevant issues related to the proposed eucalyptus field trials. Scientists at Duke University in North Carolina have created pollen models that show tree pollen traveling from a forest in North Carolina for over 1,000 kilometers northward into eastern Canada. A study published in the New Physiologist found pine pollen 600 kilometers from the nearest pines. Scientists researching sterility in trees have admitted that 100 percent guaranteed sterility in GE trees is impossible. This evidence implies that if GE trees are released into the environment, widespread and irreversible contamination of native forests cannot be prevented.

Contamination of natural trees by GE eucalyptus could pose a severe environmental threat. Eucalyptus grow well in warm climates, so engineering them to tolerate cold temperatures removes the only barrier to their unrestricted spread. In some places where eucalyptus have been introduced, they are well known for escaping and colonizing native ecosystems. For example, eucalyptus is listed as an invasive species and a costly plant pest in California. The spread of these plants into the wild through seeds and plant matter is highly likely, and the impacts on native ecosystems from this invader are largely unknown. Additionally, one of the experimental GE tree varieties is a known host for cryptococcus gatti, a fatal fungal pathogen whose spores cause meningitis in people and animals. More

Codex, bio-pirates and congressional complicity

surrender_forever_sLooming in our congress are several bills dedicated to the creation of a yet another bureaucracy which will be used to facilitate the usurping of US laws, standards and regulations in deference to international agreements and global committee edicts.

At stake here is what has been the most dynamic and productive agricultural system ever known….and the most safe.  Our congress has decided that preserving this system and allowing it to continue is not beneficial to corporate AG nor to the continued compliance relating to non-US laws and regulations.

The focus of every bill in congress devoted to fake [food safety] is aimed at eradicating any ability by non-corporate, non-industrialized farmers and ranchers to survive the financial and regulatory hardships that will result from these laws.  The forced compliance with Codex will effectively end independent farming and ranching here in the US, just as these things have done in other countries.

The most immediate threat to US farmers and ranchers, to organic growers and producers is the global committee known as [Codex Alimentarius]  which has been in existence for decades.  Codex is comprised of ever expanding committees which culminate in the issuance of the Global Strategy.  The intent of the Global Strategy is to seize control of all food production from any source, by any means, centralizing food production in the hands of the governments of nation states and controlled by multi-national corporations who fund these assaults on humanity for profit.

Reading the PR pages for Codex, you could come away thinking this was a global initiative dedicated to making sure food production and supply for the worlds populations, that food safety and availability was being promoted with an eye to humanitarian causes was the aim.  You’d be wrong.  Codex is funded and supported by the same bio-pirates, the same corporate world raiders who are intent on converting food from a human right into one of tradable, sellable commodities.  Only those who can pay will eat.

Why are Codex and corporate lobbyists lunching with our elected officials?

Seldom has the detachment between congress and the people they swore to protect and defend, between our Constitution and sovereign laws and protections been more readily apparent than in the current flood of fake [food safety] bills and the intended mandatory National Animal Identification System.

Using phrases such as “best farming practices,  disease trace back and food safety” our congress is planning to use legislation to force the US into compliance with Codex and multiple other international agreements, regulations and standards.

Not one of the bills currently being considered identifies the actual and real threats to our food supply.  China, which has repeatedly shipped contaminated food products into the US is allowed to continue unfettered.  Not once did our government concern itself with [food safety] nor act to defend us or to increase food inspection at ports of entry.  We might hurt China’s feelings and they may not want to ship any more of their garbage to us.  [Search:  Chinese contaminated food imports]

Citing contamination and the risk of food borne illnesses, congress again fails [or refuses] to cite the real and documented source of these risks domestically which occurs 95% of the time in processing…not production.  The outbreaks of salmonella, ecoli, and listeria, and other contamination do not occur in production.  These occur as the result of processors failing to adhere to sanitary standards but these days most processing plants are owned by corporate AG and profit far outweighs public safety.  In almost every known case of contamination, the source has been traced to processing plants or to contaminated products from foreign countries, not to domestic growers and producers.

So do all the fake food safety bills address any of these known problems?  Are you kidding?

Nothing in these bills does anything other than establish another federal agency which will be used to terrorize and harass independent agricultural and livestock producers while turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to corporate corruption and known sources of contamination from processing and imports which go un-inspected.

Who is looking out for us?

No one!  Your own elected representatives and senators don’t give a damn what you think, and could care less how opposed you might be to these assaults on your freedom.

Democrats launched all these bills, but Republicans sit silently and don’t object; both parties are complicit in this assault on America.

Both parties have been instrumental in the economic disaster that has brought us to the brink of collapse as a country.   Now……they are coming after our access to food.
