A main water source in the southern part of Sand Wash – Corona and family drinking 2 weeks ago – now dry

Our guest tonight is Carol Walker, Dir. of Field Documentation for Wild Horse Freedom Federation.  In just a couple of days, public comments are due for a 10 year plan by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) that will result in the removal of 580 wild horses from the Sand Wash Basin Herd Management Area (HMA) in Colorado.  The original Environmental Assessment (EA) was written in 2016, and instead of doing a proper revised EA or new Scoping, the BLM is only issuing a “Decision of NEPA Adequacy.”  This is likely a violation of the NEPA process.  The horses would be safer left in their HMA and managed there while Congress is deciding the fate of all wild horses and burros.

Also, the terrible drought has dried up much of the water in the Sand Wash Basin, so a volunteer group has raised money and is prepared to haul water to the horses.  At first the BLM said the Colorado state office had to approve this, but now it is being kicked to the Washington DC office.  While the bureaucratic wheels grind slowly, the wild horses will suffer.  Carol will talk about the actions you can take to help save these wild horses.

Carol’s website is http://www.wildhoofbeats.com/ and you can see her photography of wild horses at http://www.livingimagescjw.com/

This show will be hosted by Debbie Coffey (V.P. and Dir. of Wild Horse Affairs) of Wild Horse Freedom Federation.

Our guest tonight is ELAINE NASH, Founder and Director of Fleet of Angels, a grassroots movement of horse lovers who own trailers and are willing to help transport equines to safety when their lives are in danger.

Elaine will talk about how all of us can help to get hundreds of wild horses adopted from ISPMB by Nov. 29th, so that many horses won’t be sold at an auction and into the slaughter pipeline.

15036607_10211916579896457_9085751038782961273_n                                                                                                                                                                                                          Elaine will also talk about the recent rescue efforts by Fleet of Angels in North Carolina after Hurricane Matthew.

Fleet of Angels provides transportation for evacuating equines from floods, fires, and other natural disasters, organizing post-disaster equine search and rescue missions, coordinating foster care placement, doing equine fencing and facility repair, coordinating hay drive efforts, and offering other services as needed to save, protect, and care for at-risk equines.

Fleet of Angels helped to Keep America’s Wild Equines in America, by helping to find homes & transportation for the 10o wild burros that the BLM had planned to ship to Guatemala to become beasts of burden.

This show will be hosted by Debbie Coffey, V.P. of Wild Horse Freedom Federation.

Tonight’s show will be hosted by Marjorie Farabee, Dir. of Wild Burro Affairs for Wild Horse Freedom Federation, Equine Mgr. of Todd Mission Ranch (TMR Rescue) & founder of Wild Burro Protection League.

Wild burros are in real trouble.  In January of this year, Mojave County Supervisor Steve Moss called for issuing hunting licenses to shoot wild burros in Arizona.  His claims were that the burros were overpopulated based on aerial count done by the BLM.  But, is this true? Are they overpopulated?  We know the numbers are vastly inflated. We know the burros are not genetically healthy due to the fragmentation of their habitat.  We know that their ranges are severely over-grazed.  But, who is doing the damage? And, what are the guidelines the BLM should be following according to law?  Why do BLM employees routinely ignore the grazing guidelines they are supposed to uphold?

Listen tonight and find out.
