Mercenarius de facto; the hounds leashed by the machine

What is missing is that puff of fresh, oxygenated air to permeate the mass

***This information was not penned by myself. I received a request from a reader to consider placing this viewpoint as another approach in analyzing the OWS Movement. As one can see, this is more than a comment and poses serious analytical consideration.***

I’ve noticed a very worrisome trend in the ongoing “Occupy <X>” movement taking place in the major metropolitan centers. I’m not the first to point out the participation of military veterans such as Veterans for Peace, Oath Keepers, and Iraq Veterans Against the War in the various protests. For the right side of the political spectrum, it is easy to dismiss them as seditious turncoats. Given what passes for the current state of lawful authority, such an opinion may not be unreasonable in the eyes of the right wingers. Meanwhile the left side of the political spectrum continues to eye such participation warily since the veterans represent mercenarius de facto; the hounds leashed by the machine. Again, such an observation may not be without merit. It is not for these reasons, however valid they may be, that I believe such participation by veterans are harbingers of a political paradigm shift. More

Occupy Wall Street – Why I Must Be Stupid.

Lynn Swearingen (c) copyright 2011 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

Apparently there are so many smart people out there that I’m blessed by my ignorance. The whole “non-demand demands” of Occupy Wall Street (OWS) just confuses the heck out of me. I’m thinking “What do OWS folks stand for?”, but the best I can come up with before the Union Co-Op and Prezzie support group started was here.   Let’s just take a look one-by-one:

Demand one: Restoration of the living wage. This demand can only be met by ending “Free trade” by re-imposing trade tariffs on all imported goods entering the American market to level the playing field for domestic family farming and domestic manufacturing as most nations that are dumping cheap products onto the American market have radical wage and environmental regulation advantages. Another policy that must be instituted is raise the minimum wage to twenty dollars an hr.

Awesome! Everyone will have more fiat money to purchase fiat imported goods which will in turn support Amerika! Oh. Not so much. Let’s move on to the next.

Demand two: Institute a universal single payer healthcare system. To do this all private insurers must be banned from the healthcare market as their only effect on the health of patients is to take money away from doctors, nurses and hospitals preventing them from doing their jobs and hand that money to wall st. investors. Gold Star States – 18 and Counting.

States With "Gold Stars"

How the "Real ID" Plan is laid out.

Several individuals have “questioned” if my former blog was actually “real” in which I stated that other states were requiring a Gold Star and encouraged individuals to research their state Drivers License laws. Someone actually had the audacity to send the information that Indiana already had this so I should “…just be quiet and understand that when you renew you will have to participate.”

Just lay back and take it huh?

Wondering who is behind this program? Some little “concerned group” – nope:

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star – DHS Knows Who You Are!

There is a new component to the Connecticut and Florida Drivers Licenses – the much touted “Gold Star” two-tiered program which is partially Federally Funded, but all Federally Mandated. Starting October 3rd, residents of Connecticut will be required to provide as many as 6 forms of Identification to get this specially marked State ID (PDF). (No that xerox you took of your face does not count!)

There is an opt out, but it comes with an increasingly steep price:

DMV Commissioner Melody A. Currey said that without the gold star travelers will likely face greater scrutiny at airports and when entering federal buildings. Currey said the DMV is rolling out the new program now because Connecticut is on a six-year license renewal cycle and everyone needs to have a new license before 2017, when the federal regulations go into effect.

“This is a federally mandated program to improve security,” Currey said. “We live next door to New York City and after what happened there I think we need to assure our residents that we are doing everything we can to properly identify people.”

I find this humorous. What type of additional scrutiny are we talking about here? Already passengers  enjoy the “after dinner foreplay” without the obligatory 3 course cheap buffet to get into an airport, what’s next – a cavity search because we won’t wear carry the Federally Funded and Mandated yellow star? The 9-9-9 Can of Whoop Ass

Lynn Swearingen (c) copyright 2011 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED

Considering Candidate Herman Cain just unleashed a 9-9-9 can of whoop-ass on Romney and Perry by winning the Florida Straw poll, I began to think “Alright. What exactly is the plan?”. I’ve joked with other political unsavory folks recently over the morning cuppa’ Joe at a local diner – the only thing I can think of is that 9+9+9 = 27 and when you add 2+7, well you get 9. Most just give me the “look” and move on to cattle futures, but I get a few questions as well.

“What exactly are you making fun of?”, “Why spout your mouth off when ya’ can’t even describe what he’s trying to say?” or “Yep”. I get the latter a lot because most of my buddies realize that it doesn’t mean much out here in the middle of nowhere. But what if it did? So working up my nerve I headed on over to find out what exactly Mr. Cain has been trying to relate to the voting public.

Death of A Small Business – Big Dairy Wins Again.

The great thing about “banning” food items is the ease in which it is completed these days. For instance:

Raw-milk dairy closes as costs rise

But the owners of Greenwood Farms, Holly and Steve Atkinson, say their numbers just weren’t working. The equipment, chemical and labor costs of producing raw milk were simply too high, despite growing demand from consumers willing to pay $10 or more a gallon.

Because there is no “Free Market” competition as a result of  huge milk subsidies, the smaller producer is pushed out. In this case by their own responsible choice to protect the safety of their customers. Don’t forget the “barrier to entry” that exists to even start-up a small dairy.

To survive financially, Atkinson said, the farm would have to scale up — and that would come only at the expense of safety.

“We would’ve had to double the number of cows and work 80 hours a week,” she said. “If we had grown the dairy to where we could make a profit, I don’t think we could’ve produced safe raw milk because once you get that big, you get into the factory mentality.”

If the artificial dairy market was not boosted by $74.1 Million last year  through governmental interference, having to compete with small dairies would force Agri-dairy to be more responsible.

Good-bye Greenwood Farms.

Where a government lies to her people
And a country is drifting to war More
