The increase in privately owned so-called “assault weapons” is in direct response to the militarization of our local law enforcement agencies.

They have become a quasi military entity complete with military fatigues in many instances, military tanks, grenade launchers, sound weapons and an array of other military gizmos and gadgets; all gifted to them at bargain sale prices, via Homeland Security and the Department of Defense. And, aside from your local sheriff (because he/she is elected) all law enforcement is under the control of Homeland Security.

Key to our supposed freedom loving nation, is the 2nd amendment to the Constitution. It is the underpinning to our freedom not just from possible invaders, but primarily, from a tyrannical government that might rear its ugly head and turn on its own people.Maybe we ought to give some real thought to government control. While the Framer’s of the Constitution could not have imagined the coming technologies of the future, nor life as it exists today in these United States, they did recognize the tendencies of governments to expand their power, eventually turning on their own people. History is rife with examples of tyrannical governments all over the globe that have killed off many of their own populations in an effort to obtain total tyranny over them. It appears to me, that we stand on the threshold of having this happen to us; the very thing the Framer’s feared most. What made us think our own government would not eventually turn on us? And turn it has.

With the public carefully being conditioned to believe that private gun ownership is somehow a threat to all of us, that same public turns a blind eye to the threat posed by our own ever expanding police state, brought to you courtesy of your own government.

The 2nd Amendment and why it matters

The increase in the ownership of what is termed “assault weapons” is in direct response to what we see happening right before our eyes. Our local police and sheriff’s departments have been militarized. No longer are they peace officers, the hero’s of our communities, that operated under the standard of “To Protect and Serve”, they are now law enforcement agencies under the control of Homeland Security. Now, instead of valuing them as our community hero’s they are seen as threats. Instead of being respected and revered for their service, they are feared and in many cases despised.

What “homeland” are they talking about? Whose security are they protecting? National security has nothing to do with protecting the population from possible invaders or attackers, but has everything to do with protecting the government from YOU!

Who do you think they intend to use these weapons on? Some “terrorist from over there somewhere”? These weapons of war are intended for use on YOU, should you resist the growing tyranny of your own government.

There are now an estimated 55 million gun owners in America with an estimated 265 million privately owned guns.

A recent article about gun ownership in America sighted these statistics:

From BigThink.com

If you want to chew on the numbers further, 48% of white men in America currently have a gun. That’s compared to 24% of white women and 24% of nonwhite men, as well as 16% of nonwhite women.”

55 million private gun owners and 265 million privately owned guns and some of you concluded that owning guns is a threatening issue? Let me make this perfectly clear to you. If someone is intent on killing you and/or others, they will find a way to try to do it with or without a gun. Remember 9/11?

Political Pandering

While politicians and other individuals scramble to use this recent school shooting tragedy to further their political and personal agendas, those of us watching and grieving this tragedy, know it for what it is: another excuse to attempt to strike down the 2nd Amendment. Why? Because this particular Amendment is the underpinning to our ability to not only believe we are free, but to believe we can free ourselves from tyranny. The psychological impact of destroying this right to bear arms would take us to our knees. Right where they want us.

As the efforts to strike down the 2nd Amendment have been repeatedly tried under many guises and forms, now each effort is somehow preceded by an unimaginable event such as the recent school shooting. These instances of aberrant behavior are a shock to the senses of the nation. How could this have happened? And while speculation and assumptions abound, they all revolve around the same theme: gun ownership. I find this rather odd considering the statistics listed above. How can you look at those statistics and honestly convince yourself that private gun ownership of any kind is the actual problem?

The Police State

Considering all of the constant surveillance via our phones, smart meters, GPS in our cars, scan-able license plates and readers to track your movements, cameras on virtually every building and corner post, smart TV’s that are watching and listening to you in your home, warrant-less wiretapping, the recording of every phone conversation, every text we send, tracking all of our contacts, reading all of our emails, scanning all of our snail mail, thermal scanning of our homes to detect occupants and their locations in the home, back door NSA access to our computers and phones, and the billions upon billions of bits of personal and virtually meaningless information gathered on each and every one of us every minute of every day of the week….did you ever ask yourself…. whom are they really fearful of?

And in the context of the “why” question, did you even think about “how” this could have happened with all this constant surveillance of everyone and every move we make,… how is it possible that these instances of mass shootings occur?

Then, in reference to this recent tragedy, maybe ask yourself:

  • How many psychotropic drugs was he (has he been) on over the last several years?

So not only did the shooter have this very large weapon, he carried multiple magazines, endless magazines…….and not one person noticed this?

How many times are we supposed to buy these “coincidences” that just happen to coincide with an agenda that would deprive us all of our right and ability to defend ourselves, before we ask the real questions?

As a political atheist, I have little hope for us surviving as a nation; at least one that any of us would recognize. In fact, we are barely recognizable now as the great nation we were intended to be. If you honestly believe for one moment there is any real and true difference in political party’s, I don’t know what can be done for you. Both factions of the system are selling you the same crap…its just a matter of which sales pitch you are going to buy into. Either way, you are going to end up at the same destination with you choosing the method of political transportation to take you there.

But first, they will come to take your guns. It is imperative that you become defenseless.

most gun control laws can be viewed as efforts to save lives and prevent crime,

At the Federal level, congress has continually ceded its law-making power to private corporations and when it does act, it seldom produces anything that benefits the public.
