Hour 2: Beth Clay
Hawk International
Ms. Clay is a health freedom advocate and former Senior Professional Staff Member who lead the health care oversight team on the House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform and Oversight with then Chairman Dan Burton of Indiana. The investigations and conducted hearings included looking at the role of complementary and alternative medicine in our health care system, dietary supplement regulation, the over medicating of very young children labeled with ADHD, vaccine injury and the epidemic increase of rates of autism spectrum disorders.

Background: Ms. Clay first became known in the complementary and alternative medicine community from her work both in the National Institutes of Health’s Office of Alternative Medicine and subsequently the United States Congress. She was recruited from the NIH to lead a Congressional inquiry looking at the role of Complementary and Alternative Medicine in our health care system. This would expand to look at the implementation of dietary supplement health and education act of 1994. In addition to the government officials who were called before the Committee,

Ms. Clay would bring experts such as Drs. Dean Ornish, Wayne Jonas, Jeremy Geffen as well as nonprofit leadership such as Dannion Brinkley and Dr. James Gordon before the Committee in order to educate and raise awareness of issues. She also brought celebrities Jane Seymour, Raquel Welch, and Lisa Marie Presley.

While working for Congress, Ms. Clay served as a member of the US Delegation to the CODEX Alimentarius Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses (A WTO level regulatory authority). She has since worked to limit the restrictive impact of CODEX on vitamin and mineral supplements in the United States.

In 1999, the more than 1 million families living with autism in the United States would come to know Beth as the open-minded, dedicated Congressional staffer working with Congressman Dan Burton, then Chairman of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee to evaluate why there was an epidemic rise in the rates of autism spectrum disorders.

After finishing work on the Mercury in Medicine Congressional Staff Report, Ms. Clay resigned her government position and entered the private sector where she has established herself as a strong proponent for health freedom and become a consultant to corporate and non-profit organizations providing expert  advice on matters dealing with government interaction, international development and technical writing.

She remains active philanthropically on veterans and children’s health issues. She serves as an International Human Rights Commissioner with the Citizens Commission for Human Rights (
Ms. Clay lives in a suburb of Washington, DC. Ms. Clay has been interviewed on dozens of radio shows across the country and appeared on CNN-fn, Fox News, and Sinclair Broadcasting.
