The “solar” technology is probably an inferior Chinese junk knock-off of Philippine solar technology. The Philippine government, in cooperation with the leading technological universities in the country, has been involved in deveiopment of solar power since the 1950s.
Unlike the United States north of the Mason-Dixon line, which doesn’t receive enough usable sunlight at ground-level to make solar power a paying investment, the Philippines receives 95% of sunlight at ground level — enough to make it an attractive investment.
Happily, the Philippines has the natural resources to provide reliable power supplies (without resorting to nuclear power development) to the entire country, so solar power isn’t really needed that much.
It figures, however, that if the rich and politcally powerful in Nevada would come up with a scheme to set up solar power farms east of Las Vegas, in conjunction with Chinese investors, they’d use inferior knock-offs, instead of opting for the good stuff!
I’m Dave Laibow, an American living in the Philippines. I think that leaving the U.S. as soon as you can is a much more sensible choice that investing in solar technology (even south of the Mason-Dixon line, which is where you’d get enough sunlight at ground-level for your investment to make sense), but if you do make the investment, look for “Proudly Philippine Made”. And you can contact me anytime at “caballafamily[at]yahoo.com”.

This land should be made a national park, and all the animals should be left to live there, It’s their home.

Whatever the REAL story behind this….the core issue is most probably WATER and BIG MONEY. Whether it’s mining, fracking, natural gas,or even solar…these projects all require huge amounts of water. There have also been projects on the table to pipe water away from smaller to larger communities…such as Las Vegas…yet another battle.
As Marti and Debbie Coffey have shown us, the aquifers that are beneath the land can be tapped from a very long distance. All of these areas have been mapped and surveyed. The multi-national corporations have all of the information they need, but in Nevada, the federal government does NOT have the water rights.
This is an older document, but informative and gives a good overview of the entire state.

Here’s where you need to check to find out what’s really on the table. We all need to get in the habit of making a daily check. Public lands and resources belong to ALL of us.

Emery County joins group protesting wild horse and burro over-population
Joel Hatch approached the Emery County Commissioners to ask for their support of the newly formed Western Rangelands Conservation Association Inc.
This association is preparing to take the Bureau of Land Management to court for their lack of management of the wild horse and burro population.
The overpopulation is especially problematic in Kane and Iron counties. Iron County has determined they will take upon themselves to round up the horses and take them to a holding center.
