“Wisconsin citizens must keep calling their elected officials and say NO to AB440 and SB115, pending dietary licensing legislation. Could go to a floor vote April 15, 20 or 22.”

Video interview/ Char Watters:

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Another bill has the attention of the health care industry.  There’s a bill that would change the requirements of dietitians.  If approved, they would need to be licensed by the state, currently they only need to be certified.

“People want to take charge of their own health, very well educated and they’re exploring alternatives,” says Charlene Watters, a retired RN & Integrated Health Advocate.

But those alternatives could be narrowed down because of a bill in the state legislature. More

Law would protect farmers by ensuring export markets are considered before GMO approval

From: Sandra Finely/Canadian Correspondent

Canadians, who seem to do more than complain, just won the first round of the battle to stop the spread of GMO crops!  Go Canada!

Alex Atamanenko, MP
BC Southern Interior-NDP Agriculture critic     APRIL 15, 2010

OTTAWA – A private members bill to protect farmers by calling for an analysis of potential harm to export markets prior to approving new genetically engineered seeds has passed second reading in the House of Commons.  Bill C-474, proposed by New Democrat Agriculture Critic Alex Atamanenko (BC-Southern Interior), will move to committee for further study.

“Despite intense lobbying efforts by the biotech industry and the Conservative government to nip this bill in the bud, the opposition parties voted instead to protect the economic interests of farmers,” said Atamanenko. “I couldn’t be happier that Parliament has made this historic decision.”

This is the first time a bill to change the rules on GMOs has passed second reading in the House.

Atamanenko believes that the government‘s science-only approach to how GMO’s are regulated is irresponsible because it completely ignores market considerations.

“It was the government’s lax regulatory process that allowed GE Triffid flax to shut out Canadian flax exports from its key markets and hurt farmers,” explained Atamanenko. “For the first time, Parliament has a chance to seriously consider a regulatory mechanism that will ensure farmers are never again faced with rejection in our export markets because we allow the introduction of GE technologies that they have not approved.”

Fake “Food Safety” Bill S.510 Amended: Can we Trust the FDA? NOT!

“Harkin’s S. 510 claims to protect supplements while FDA Creates a Wide-Open Back Door to Destroy Them While We Are Still Celebrating”

Not long ago, a form of Vitamin B6 (pryadoxamine) was forbidden by the FDA because a drug company had studied it and wanted to make it into a drug.  Never mind that it was protected by the 1994 Dietary Supplements Health and Education Act (DSHEA) as a grandfathered item on the “Old Ingredients List”.  Recently the Fraud and Death Administration said that although we know that it had been in use before DSHEA and WAS on the list found on the FDA website, being on the list was not (hold on to your hats here) proof of being on the list and thus not proof of being grandfathered.

Now, because another drug company wants to make another form of Vitamin B6 into a drug, and it fears, in writing, that people would take the supplement rather than the drug if it were not banned as a supplement, The FDA is considering granting its Citizens Petition to do just that. More

Congressman Waxman Knows No Fear

By: J. Speer-Williams

California Democratic Congressman Henry Waxman is determined to deal with the really big problem facing Americans, today: It’s major league ballplayers, who chew or dip tobacco during ball games.

And while Waxman may be one of the homeliest guys in congress (Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, Levin, Specter, Frank, and Lieberman notwithstanding), the man is all raw courage.

Like a hard nosed middle linebacker, Waxman is tackling a problem of enormous proportions: It’s baseball players who honor the century old American tradition of playing ball with a chew in one one of their cheeks.

The prospect of dropping atomic bombs on the largely defenseless nation of Iran is too small a problem for the diligent Waxman to concern himself with, as was the greatest financial heist in recorded history, known as the banker bail-out bill, which Mr. Waxman merely voted for.

Vaccines that give our children autism is child’s play for Waxman; instead, he’s going after the really big game – our major league ball-players. As I’ve said, the man knows no fear.

Don’t talk to Waxman about Americans who have lost their homes, cars, savings, and jobs, those are problems best left to those without the courage of a Henry Waxman. More

A Fresh look at Barbara Peterson’s Morgellans and GMO article

GMO and Morgellons Disease

March 24, 2008 by Barbara Peterson Rebublished April, 2010

I am currently reading William Engdahl’s Seeds of Destruction, which documents the takeover of our global food chain by giant transnational agri-business concerns intent on enslaving the population through GMO technology. I am having difficulty reading this book because after a few pages, I become enraged at the colossal greed and corruption that exists in our corporate government, which has no problem murdering whole populations and eco-systems, and reducing the survivors to a life of abject misery and poverty. I find that after reading just a few pages, I have to put the book down, cool off, then pick it up again and read a few more pages before going through the cycle again. Anyway, as I was going through this cycle of reading, fuming, cooling off, then reading again, a thought occurred to me. What if the advent of Morgellons Disease has something to do with the ingestion of GMO foods? The timing seems to be rather coincidental, so I did some web research, and here is what I found.

Morgellons Disease – What is it?

Very little can be found regarding this disease. Originally, sufferers were told that their problem was imaginary. This was of little comfort to the people who were suffering.

Morgellons Disease sufferers report strange, fiber-like material sticking out of sores or wounds that erupt on the skin. This is accompanied by painful, intense itching, that has been described as “an ever present sensation as if something is crawling under the skin”    More

The Income Tax and American Servitude
by Jacob G. Hornberger

With April 15 almost upon us, this would be a good time to remind ourselves of how the income tax contributed to the destruction of American liberty.

We should first keep in mind that with the exception of the Civil War, the American people lived without an income tax from the beginning of the United States until 1913, when the 16th Amendment was adopted.

This was not an accident. Americans living during that period of time understood that freedom and an income tax were contradictory notions. If people wanted to live in a free society, it would have to be a society in which government was prohibited from levying taxes on income. Conversely, if people wanted to live in a society in which government is taxing income, then the price they pay is the loss of freedom. More

It’s decision time on raw milk legislation

Live Link: The Country today

It soon will be decision time for legislators on the controversial issue of whether to allow raw milk sales in Wisconsin. The last day of the current legislative session is April 22, although the legislative calendar indicates lawmakers could be in session for “limited business” May 4-6.Regardless of whether the legislative session ends April 22 or May 6, the clock is ticking.

Bills that aren’t approved by May 6 will die a quiet death. They would have to be reintroduced in January 2011 after a new governor and legislators are elected.

Jeff Buhrandt, an aide to state Sen. Pat Kreitlow, D-Chippewa Falls, a key sponsor of the Senate version of the bill, said proponents aren’t sure when or if the legislation will be voted on in the final days of the legislative session.

“We’re still kind of working through that,” Buhrandt said. “We’re continuing to push. But I can’t say definitely whether we will have a vote before the session ends.”

Gov. Jim Doyle said he would have to see what the bill contains before deciding whether to sign it.

Meanwhile, a Raw Milk Working Group recently met for the first time to try to come up with a consensus on whether and how raw milk should be legalized in Wisconsin. The working group includes raw milk advocates, farmers, milk plant officials, university specialists and others.

If approved as written with the latest amendment, the raw milk bill would sunset on Dec. 31, 2011. Legislative sponsors say this would give officials time to come up with a long-term solution, perhaps incorporating the input from the Raw Milk Working Group. More
