As we approach what will be a landmark decision for those of us in an agricultural belt whose main crop is alfalfa, I offer this one plea on behalf of reason, before the final verdict is in:
An Appeal for Common Sense to prevail in the case of Monsanto v. Geertson Seed Farms, No. 09-475, in which Judge Clarence Thomas is presiding.
Come on Clarence, we know you can do it! You can make the right decision and uphold the ban on genetically modified (GM) alfalfa. The question is, do you want to? After years of bowing to your GM masters, can you make the leap and strike a blow for food freedom?
Any thinking person knows that genetic modification allowed to spread uncontrolled is harmful to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And just how long do you think it will take for the unbridled scourge of anti-biotic resistance given to us by the genetic engineering process itself, to affect someone in your family? (have a group hug)…it’s very disheartening to realize that all of the carbon emission savings you have accomplished while suffering the inconvenience and expense of driving Prius hybrids, buying fabric grocery bags, sitting up til midnight to finish your kid’s “The Green Revolution” science project, throwing out all of your non-green cleaning supplies, using only two squares of toilet paper, putting a brick in your toilet tank reservoir, selling your SUV and speedboat, going on vacation to a city park instead of Yosemite, nearly getting hit every day on your bicycle, replacing all of your $1 light bulbs with $10 light bulbs …well, all of those things you have done have all gone down the tubes in just the past week.
The volcanic ash emitted into the Earth’s atmosphere in the past week has totally erased every single effort you have made to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And, those hundreds of thousands of American jobs you helped move to Asia with expensive emissions demands on businesses… you know, the ones that are creating even more emissions than when they were creating American jobs, well that must seem really worthwhile now.
I’m so sorry. And I do wish that there was some kind of a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud but the fact of the matter is that the brush fire season across the western U.S.A. will start in about two months and those fires will negate your efforts to reduce carbon emissions in our world for the next two years.

On February 5, 2010, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack announced that USDA will develop a new, flexible, yet coordinated framework for animal disease traceability in the United States. Under this new direction, States and Tribal Nations must establish the ability to trace, back to their State of origin, animals moving interstate. The new framework will embrace the strengths and expertise of States, Tribal Nations, and producers, and empower them to find and use the traceability approaches that work best for them. The Secretary has pledged to develop this new approach as transparently and collaboratively as possible.
USDA held an initial traceability forum with States and Tribes in March to discuss how to begin creating the framework and gather feedback on possible ways of achieving traceability. USDA is now hosting three public meetings to discuss animal disease traceability more fully and to share the information from the March State and Tribal meeting with industry representatives. Buried in the 1200-page Senate financial reregulation bill we found a sneaky provision that would undermine state-level insurance consumer protections if they conflict with trade agreements! Yup, the “Office of National Insurance” (ONI) proposal would empower the Treasury Department to unilaterally override existing state insurance regulations that it deems to be out of step with international agreements.

A central database will keep tabs on each of America’s remaining 180 herds on public lands in ten Western States and their ranges. According to BLM, in 1971 339 wild herds were designated for protection. Since then the BLM and Forest Service have zeroed out 159 herds, including 12 in Nevada just last year. Volunteer teams will log and catalog data, photos and information following their visits to the range. The Cloud Foundation hopes that BLM and Forest Service officials will welcome the increased interest and monitoring of wild herds at no cost to taxpayers.

This excerpt from a report at the National Expositor highlights the lengths the military and government will go to fabricate the cause for the intended violence they intend to commit against American citizens for dissenting. We have just a few days to stop the United States government from preventing the world from properly labeling genetically modified foods (GMOs).
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have adopted a pro-corporate position that laughably claims labeling GM/GE foods creates the “false” impression that “that the labeled food is in some way different from other foods.”
And next week, at the United Nations meeting in Canada, they will tell the world to adopt the same position, preventing other countries from rightly labeling GMOs as different from fresh, natural food. The implications of this position could further undermine organic food standards all over the world, especially organic labeling.
We know that GMO food created by the likes of Monsanto is not only “different” but unhealthy and unsustainable. Can you help us tell the USDA and FDA to wake up and drop this ridiculous position?
While the rest of the world wants to be able to label unnatural GMOs, Barack Obama’s USDA and FDA have adopted pro-corporate food positions GMOs. Unless we act now, the United States will go to this meeting telling the world that GMO foods are not different and should not be labeled.
GMO foods, by definition, are genetically different. By altering nature’s design in order to withstand a barrage of chemicals and other poisons, humans are without question creating a new, different kind of food.
During the Senate hearings yesterday (April 27, 2010), this was said:
“A Republican member, Senator Susan M. Collins of Maine, turned from one witness to the next as she asked repeatedly whether they felt a duty to act in the best interest of their clients. Only one of the four witnesses she questioned seemed to affirm such a duty outright.” (NY Times)
WHAT! In the six plus years I was employed as a registered representative of an investment firm, the surest way to be summarily fired was to forget our fiduciary responsibility to our clients.
Remember, I bring only sandbox economics to this discussion. I have no wallpaper beyond my Insurance Agent License and my Registered Representative Licensure. I am not aware if the rules are different for investment banks, but I doubt it.
Common sense tells us that a market that condones deceit and rewards greed is bound to fail eventually, and the people who “made that market” (not unlike a Ponzi Scheme) will not be the ones who pay the price for that failure.
The posture adopted by the Goldman Sachs executives in the hearing is no mystery. Anything they say can be used against them in later proceedings; they do not want to go to prison.
Although we can never recover the immense wealth that has been lost, particularly in our retirement funds, they should be made to pay, nonetheless. Those responsible for the actions leading to this collapse should be facing incarceration in Danville if not, more appropriately, Leavenworth.
If I had chosen for an instant to ignore the best interests of my clients, that is from where I would be writing this.

The Department of Homeland Security has just reported that during 2009, they issued 1,130,818 new Green Cards to foreign nationals, allowing them to work legally in this country. That number represents the fourth highest number of cards issued in one year.
750,000 of the new Green Cards were given to the families of U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents.
In Feb. 2009, the financial institution Merrill Lynch announced that the nation’s actual unemployment rate had reached 13.9 percent. A year later, that number had risen to 17.3 percent. This figure represents Americans who have been laid off from full-time positions and are now working part-time, as well as those who have simply stopped looking for work, and workers whose unemployment benefits have run out.

I came of age in the ‘60’s’ when the country was in the throws of fighting to end the Viet Nam war. We marched on Washington; held protests and burned draft cards along with our bra’s in some cases, but the fact was we were out there; passionate, fired up, ready to take on the establishment for what we saw as egregious wrongs perpetrated by the rich and powerful who would have willingly sacrificed any one of us as long as they could be assured to profit and didn’t have to get their hands dirty….or their kids hands either.
I was a newly married young woman at the time all this was happening, my husband a Marine in the 5th Reconnaissance. The man I married came home from that war suffering from horrendous nightmares and the lifetime effects of Agent Orange along with multiple other injuries which have afflicted him for all these years since. They gave him a bronze star and several other medals; I can only assume this was the reward for the sacrifice he made in yet another war that was waged for corporate profits but sold as another of those that had to be fought to save some country that didn’t want us there to begin with. In my article, How the American Republic Died at Philadelphia in 1787I showed, with quotes from the Federalists and Anti-Federalists, alike, how our original constitution, the Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union (1781) was illegally scrapped and replaced with a new Constitution (1787), which formed a wholly new government – one which was deliberately designed to grow into the fascistic behemoth we see today. Here, I will go into the various ingenious ways in which the Federalists designed the Constitution to achieve that end, all while making it appear as though our liberties were safeguarded.
First, though, I think it is necessary to point out exactly how and why this subterfuge was illegal, in the first place. The best way of doing so is to simply examine the wording of Article VIII, Section 1 of the Articles of Confederation, which says:

I could only be called semi-handsome … in a dim light … at 20 feet … many years ago.
Good looks may not be everything, but they can give one a head start in life. But, paraphrasing Mark Twain, “God must love plain looking (ugly) people as he made so many of us.” And, I’d rather be loved by God than look like Rock Hudson used to look, or how Tom Cruise looks, today.
Still, next life time, I’d like to have a six foot, four inch tall body, with muscular, well-shaped limbs, a fabulous throwing arm, jet-black hair (that later turns to a steel gray), piercing blue eyes, weighing in at a slim 235 pounds, all top off with a kill-her smile. I’m talkin’ tall, dark, and devastating. No more Willie Nelson looks for me, unless I can sing and write music like he can.
If God will give me such looks, I promise to try to win his love, in spite of my gorgeousness. Which reminds me of another good-looking chap, who needs to work over-time to win God’s love: Barack Hussein Obama, once known as Barry Soetero.

But oddly enough, hard working Professor Obama refused tenure, as he must have known he was on a much faster greased track to something much bigger … if … he could only improve his poor teleprompter reading skills of what others wrote for him.
And, Mr. Soetero … er… Mr. Obama applied himself to his trade, which was not statesmanship, but neuro-linquistics. And in time, Obama’s teleprompter reading coaches perfected with their student a slow rhythmic flow of spoken words, broken up with many “uhs,” with the same measured cadence as the words appeared on his teleprompter screens.
Then strangely, in an unprecedented move, the Democratic Party kingmakers gave lowly state Senator Obama a national stage, when allowing him to display his reading cadence at their presidential nominating convention of 2004.
And even more amazingly, the following year, Barack became a United States senator. Then unbelievably, three years later, Mr. Obama became president and commander-in-chief of the most militarily equipped nation on Earth, without ever serving a day in any military. Whatever the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) started out to be, (and research shows this was questionable) it is now intolerable, defined by its intolerance of anyone or any group who doesn’t adhere to its ever changing blacklists comprised of “who we hate today”. I will reiterate what I have said before; SPLC is the new McCarthyism. SPLC is the ADL/South; the Anti-defamation league only slightly more virulent in its targeting and maligning of any who dare to oppose it. The Southern Poverty Law Center has made a profitable business out of selling hate, propaganda and intolerance. We should call this group by its proper name” The Southern Poverty Lie Center.
Doing a little investigative research it appears there are big bunches of cash to made peddling hate and SPLC is a pro at raising cash; in fact the business of selling imagined and selective hate data has become so profitable that SPLC might stand a chance of losing its 501c3 tax exemption.
In fact, unknown to most CFC donors, the tax-exempt SPLC flunked an audit by the Arlington-based Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance, which requires that “a reasonable percentage, at least 50 percent of total income from all sources, should be applied to programs and activities directly related to the purposes for which the organization exists.”

IN NOVEMBER 2010, WE HAVE A GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY TO CLEAN OUT THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND ONE-THIRD OF THE SENATE!
Our ballots in every state should include a “no confidence” voting section. If either of the candidates from what is now openly recognized as one unitary party, are the only candidates allowed on the ballots, we should have the right and the ability to vote “NO CONFIDENCE” and keep either of them from taking that office. Leave the seat vacant until a viable and qualified candidate can be found; one selected by the people and not one crowned as the heir apparent by the controlling political insiders.
The idea that we allow these two factions of the same political machine determine who is allowed on the ballot is insane.
Having a seat empty in either the House or the Senate could only improve our chances of breaking up the political corruption destroying our country. And contrary to the hysteria that would errupt from having a seat remain empty, the fact is, no one in either the House or the Senate is working for YOU: you are not represented anyway.
Do something good for your country. When you go into that voting booth…don’t pull the lever, push the button, tap the screen or pencil in any Democrat OR Republican. The one party system of corruption must end.

S.510, “FDA Food safety Modernization Act” is a misnomer. This bill should be more aptly titled “Making America Sick Through Adulteration of Food” act. Calendar No. 247, S.510 came out of committee and into the Senate on March 3, 2010. While I am tempted to go through this latest attack on the public, line by line, suffice it to say that it is nothing more than another hyped up reaction to a created crisis that could have been easily taken care of had anyone actually been doing the jobs they are paid to do.
Here’s the problem with our food system in the US: the government refuses to keep its damn nose out of it. For years we have had to endure the USDA and FDA regulations, codes, rules and other obstacles erected as barriers to commerce and to the agricultural production that has been the back bone of our economy. A nation is only as successful as its farmers and ranchers; the ability of a nation to feed itself is the greatest deterrent to recessions and depressions. And by farmers and ranchers I don’t mean industrialized corporate farming for massive profits while we defile everything in sight.
For every one dollar spent in agriculture, an estimated seven dollars is generated in the over all economy. We need our farmers and ranchers; we don’t need bloated bureaucracies laden with desk jockeys who have nothing better to do than to create ever increasing and burdensome rules, regulations, statutes and codes that even they themselves cannot decipher and most times can’t even remember. A new Arizona law allows any U.S. citizen 21 or older to carry concealed weapons without needing a permit from the state first. New Mexico is expected to follow Arizona’s lead.
Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed the law with the no-permit requirement into law recently, The new law will go into effect 91 days after the State Legislature adjourns so it will be early summer of 2010 meaning the law would take effect sometime in the summer, according to reports.
“I believe this legislation not only protects the Second Amendment rights of Arizona citizens, but restores those rights as well,” Brewer, a Republican, said in a statement.
Arizona gun owners can still get concealed-weapon permits under the new law, if they want to, but would not be required. Many Arizonan’s are expected to keep their CCW permit so that when they travel they will be legal in the states that have reciprocating agreement. Also, Arizonan’s wanting permits will see the education requirements change under the new law: classes no longer will have to be set number of hours or include any hands-on use of the weapon. More

New report on equine stress released as Foundation denied access to view the captured Calico wild horses in Nevada
Reno, NV (April 23, 2010)—Unexpected castrating of captured male mustangs, four years old and younger, by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) started behind closed doors on Friday, April 16th in the Fallon holding pens of Nevada. Many depressed horses with swollen scrotums have been observed. The public understood that the castration of the Calico wild horses would not occur until the In Defense of Animals court case was heard in May as there is a possibility of returning the wild horses to their protected public rangelands. For months, requests for daily monitoring by humane observers have been repetitively denied at the new private facility contracted by the BLM. Now a request to visit the feedlot-style facility by Executive Director of the Cloud Foundation and Emmy-Award winning filmmaker, Ginger Kathrens, has been denied as well. Outraged members of the public will hold protests in multiple cities because of the BLM’s lack of transparency and cruel roundups. The first rally is planned for Sunday, April 25th near Las Vegas at Red Rocks Park from 12:00- 2:00 p.m.

One practice in particular makes most commercial meats potentially dangerous to your health, and that’s the practice of implanting cattle with sex hormones prior to entering the feed lot, about 100 days prior to slaughter.
This is done by implanting a pellet containing natural or synthetic sex hormones under the skin of the cattle’s ear. The objective is a financial one, as it increases the meat weight, and hence profits, by about 10 percent, for very little additional cost.
As a result, nearly all commercial meats contain very high levels of sex hormones. Either the natural hormones: testosterone, estrogen, progesterone, or the synthetic equivalent.
“Our meat poses increased risks of hormonal cancers, which have escalated since 1975. Breast cancer has increased by 25 percent, prostate cancer by 60 percent, and testes cancer by 60 percent,” says Epstein.

On March 18, the New York Times ran an editorial titled “Honest Food Labels.” In this article, Dr. Hamburg publicized letters to about 17 or 18 companies, accusing them of masking undesirable ingredients in their products.
She also emphasized the importance of providing information that consumers can rely on.
“Very, very unfortunately, however, she has totally failed to take any such action with regard to two of our major dietary staples; milk and meat,” says Eptein.
“She has excluded milk and meat from undesirable ingredients, and in so doing, she has created the impression that they are safe.
… About 20 percent of our milk is genetically engineered. Technically this is known as rBGH, the small r stands for recombinant, BGH, is bovine growth hormone… This [milk] contains very high levels of a natural growth factor known as IGF-1…
IGF-1 stands for Insulin-like Growth Factor 1. So growth factor 1 is a natural growth factor and is responsible for normal growth but when you drink rBGH milk, you have very, very high levels of this natural growth factor.
When you drink it, the IGF-1 survives digestion and is readily absorbed from your small intestine, into your blood.

I have a concern about a new policy for health coverage. I have been off work due to a collapsed disk in my neck and have recently returned. I have seen a new policy for health benefits indicating I will have a higher premium due to the fact that I smoke. This concerns me on many levels and I question the standard that is set in doing so.
Understand, I will not defend smoking, since I understand the possible health risks due to smoking; however, I do question where this type of policy will take us. I would wonder what the next step will be. I am concerned that, one would assume, similar policies will be enacted for other reasons such as being overweight, being on psychotropic drugs, ingesting fast food with its many chemicals, or using alcohol. Am I to understand that only smoking is cause for higher medical costs? What about associates that live in areas of air quality concerns such as large cities?
There are several (actually 1000’s) of studies done by the EPA linking severe health conditions with exposure to gas fumes and fumes of chemicals that can be found in our very own aisles. Will individuals working in garden have to pay a higher premium since they are exposed to chemicals on a daily basis? I feel these are valid questions that need to be considered. There are also several studies linking obesity and diet to health risks such as high cholesterol, heart issues, diabetes, and general damage to all organs. The list of side effects from taking most medications, such as psychotropic drugs prescribed by doctors, is typically longer than the positive effects. I would suggest that these individuals pay a higher premium since their burden on the health insurance would obviously be substantial. More

The Depravity of the “Horse Eaters” Knows No Bounds
“Slaughterhouse” Sue and fellow horse-eater Dave Duquette lobbying for support amid crowd of killer buyers at recent auctionCHEYENNE — A Wyoming state representative from Recluse is interested in opening a horse slaughtering facility in Laramie County, according to the director of the Wyoming Livestock Board.
Earlier this year, Rep. Sue Wallis, R-Recluse, was one of several legislators to sponsor a bill that allows the “disposal of” stray animals, as opposed to their sale.
“She is interested in doing something with the horses that have no value anymore,” said Jim Schwartz, director of the Wyoming Livestock Board.
Schwartz indicated there are several “investor types” in Laramie County interested in the facility. He deferred questions about the investors to Wallis.
Wallis did not return several messages left on her cell phone Friday, nor was there an answer at her home number.
Derek Grant, public information officer for the Wyoming Department of Agriculture, said such a plant would have to follow the same rules that other meat facilities do in the state.
“We have not received any blueprints or an application for a permit,” he said.
Grant did add that the meat at the potential facility is going to be used for animal feed.

Yesterday, information was uncovered on her plans to build a slaughter house that would kill healthy horses and supply their tainted meat to pets and today she still contends that horse meat is safe for human consumption which is in direct conflict with known science and international government assertions.
