The GM genocide: Thousands of Indian farmers are

committing suicide after using genetically

modified crops

By Andrew Malone
Last updated at 12:48 AM on 03rd November 2008

Excerpted from the full article:

“So Shankara became one of an estimated 125,000 farmers to take their own life as a result of the ruthless drive to use India as a testing ground for genetically modified crops.

The crisis, branded the ‘GM Genocide’ by campaigners, was highlighted recently when Prince Charles claimed that the issue of GM had become a ‘global moral question’ – and the time had come to end its unstoppable march. ” (end excerpt)

Excerpted from downsizedc…….

“The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) wants you to have a Real ID card that’s very similar to the TWIC card. But DHS is failing to implement the Real ID because state governments are resisting. Twenty one states are refusing to comply with the REAL ID. It’s probably the biggest rebellion against the federal government since the Civil War. So what can the DHS do to overcome this rebellion?

They can “pick off the herd” — hit one industry at a time until so many people have Smart Cards no one is left to resist. Those with the Smart Cards may even begin to think it would be “just” if everyone had one. It’s a classic totalitarian strategy,”

Note to the GOP: Miscreants like Coulter and Limbaugh must go in order to save your party

by Mary MacElveen

We must with vigilance continue to monitor what the right-wing of the Republican Party has to say and the minions who spout their ignorant-crap for a lack of a better term to define it.

Yes, I am speaking of Ann Coulter after reading this article on Townhall.com. It was vile and lacked any substance and sustenance for these United States of America.  Coulter must wrap her brain (if she has one) around the fact that she and her ilk lost on Election Day and thank God for that.

If this past Election Day taught us anything is that America finally wanted and craved a high-minded intellectual residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  The world’s reaction to our new president to be was refreshing considering the fact how this present one has been mocked and ridiculed time-and-time again during these past eight years.

In this blistering defeat, those like Coulter are acting like petulant children who did not get their way and thank God they did not.  It is as if she is threw herself to the floor throwing a tantrum.  It is up to all of us to send her and others just like her to their corner for an extended time-out.

In calling Colin Powell a “loser” for his endorsement of President-elect, Barack Obama, it shows her lack of intellect.  This is exactly what Americans rejected in this past election.  We craved more than what the right-wing of the Republican Party was offering us.  Ann Coulter, must take a good look in the mirror to see exactly who the loser is at this moment in time.  But, she wont.  She will continue to angrily type at her key board and appear on any show that will have her so that she can to continue an old bellicose message filled with deceit.  My message to these shows is to consider Coulter persona-non-grata.  We have important issues to delve into and more importantly solve.

In his speech to the nation the other night, President-elect, Barack Obama even realized that the government cannot solve all of our problems.  This should be seen by the media as a golden opportunity and get back to what they are supposed to do and that is to inform people.  Instead of presenting miscreants like Coulter, present to the American people high-minded intellectuals that can help solve the problems we are all facing.

To the Republican Party if there is any lesson to be learned in all of this and for you to rebuild your party, you must replace minions like Coulter with high-minded intellectuals.  Yes, intelligence does matter.  This vitriol of hate is exactly why you went down in flames.  Quite frankly you offered the electorate nothing during the presidential campaign.

While most Americans huddled around their kitchen tables frightened to death on how to pay this bill or that, the right-wing of the Republican Party gave us Bill Ayers as cited in Coulter’s article.  Those gathered at that kitchen table gave the GOP their answer back by giving folks like Palin and Coulter a sound spanking.

In listening to several broadcast spots on MSNBC yesterday, they discussed who will be the leaders of the Republican Party and one name was floated and it was Mitt Romney.  I shuddered in total disbelief for this one reason.  At the Republican National convention he demonized liberals and did not give us one reason as to why we should elect any Republican let alone John McCain and Sarah Palin.

While the introduction of Sarah Palin at their convention gave them a boost in the polls, it was the defining moment that they were not about to delve into the issues.  After all, Rick Davis did say, “This election is not about the issues” No wonder they lost and it clearly showed to all of us that their campaign would be one of distractions and divisions.  Anyone thinking of running for office from the Republican Party should steer clear of Davis.

If the right-wing media such as Fox News is to learn anything, it can be found in these words, “The CEOs of cable news outlets and the mainstream media should begin the healing process by giving pink slips to all the hate-mongers they have on their payrolls.” They were expressed by Bill Corcoran in a letter to the editor at the Chicago Sun Times.  Corcoran through his blog has spoken out on so many critical issues pertinent to this republic.

To the Republican Party, one of the most important reasons why you lost on Election Day is this simple fact; you have relied too heavily on hateful messages and in fact insane messages coming from folks like Coulter and Limbaugh.  While their messages feeds the base their red-meat, for the rest of us, we were starving for any substantive campaign coming from John McCain and Sarah Palin.  Thankfully we were nourished by our new President-elect, Barack Obama and Vice President-elect, Joe Biden.

As some discuss whether or not Palin will be a viable and relevant candidate for the 2012 Republican ticket, we as Americans must not forget how she stoked the fires of hate and divisiveness in this campaign.  She became the domestic terrorist she claimed that President-elect, Barack Obama was and where her words could have had dire consequences to this republic.  We as a republic cannot go back to that darkened abyss, but move on.

In defense of us…things I would like to see happen, but won’t.

We have a new president which will hopefully mark a new day for America.  Unfortunately, we are still saddled with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid whose agendas seem far removed what the majority of American people want.

If I could be the person who could determine the first 100 days of this new presidency, these would be the first things I would make sure were done.

  • End the use of [and for other purposes] that ends the titling of each and every bill in both houses.  The use of this phrase signals the insertion of pork barrel spending costing taxpayers billions in deficit spending each year.  It also allows the insertion of non-related attachments to the legislation the bill is supposed to be about in order to pass laws that could not pass on their own, usually to our detriment.

  • Demand that each and every bill be read in full by the persons voting on it.  There is no excuse for any elected official to vote on a bill they have not even taken the time to read.  [1]

  • Repeal, rescind, strike down, nullify, wipe out and eradicate every Executive Order that has been issued with the express intent of expanding presidential powers beyond the scope of the Constitution, and used to limit, erase and obliterate civil liberties.

  • While our country slides further into recession and another 250,000 lost their jobs in October of 2008 bringing our total unemployment numbers to more than 3 million, enforce our immigration laws; penalize those companies that offshore jobs and end the massive trade deficit with China that is in part responsible for the state of our economy.  We need to re-establish our manufacturing base here at home using American workers.  A consumer based economy cannot survive, and was never meant to, especially when the consumers have no discretionary money to spend.

  • As a direct result of the created financial crisis, suspend all foreign aid except to the poorest countries.  Why we continue to send 8 billion plus, yearly to Israel when their economy is booming and they were somehow not affected by the global crisis, is beyond me.

  • Immediately suspend all the tax credits, tax subsidies and cash subsidies to oil companies.  The idea that these companies netted as much as 30 billion in 2007 and will see at least that much for this year while America struggles to stay afloat, is beyond me.

  • Remove Social Security funds from the general fund.  Secure these funds against raiding by the federal government.  Currently, there is 2.6 trillion in worthless I.O.U.’s  sitting in Social Security as a result of theft by the federal government.  Since this debt, created by stealing the retirement investments of American workers cannot be paid back (and in fact, there was never any intention to pay it back) the federal government now lists this debt by theft as an [unfunded liability];  which should explain the continual scrambling to try and “fix” the system before we find out just how much damage they have done.

  • Remove us from the United Nations and tell them to build their multi-billion dollar new complex somewhere else…..and to provide the bulk of the financing they are expecting us to provide.

  • Cut the bloated White House Staff that is costing taxpayers more than 32 million a year. [2]

  • Cut the bloated congressional staffs.

  • End the lobbyist faction.  Special interest groups and persons should be required to conduct all their efforts in front of the CSPAN camera’s.  That alone could end this nightmare that money creates for all of us, in the halls of congress.

  • Suspend all retirement payments to former members of congress and their spouses.  The millions spent each year for this largesse is more than we can afford, especially for people who most likely don’t need the money.  If those of us out here in no-man’s land have to tighten our belts and sacrifice, these people should be more than happy to contribute their fair share.

  • Begin the ending of the wars.

Seems like a lot doesn’t it?  The truth is, all of these things could be accomplished in a matter of days.  The fact is, nothing remotely similar to this will happen.  Congress will continue to operate as an entity with no obligation to the population.

What we can do is to remain vigilant, remain involved and continue to speak our minds where ever and when ever possible.  Our reticence and our apathy is what got us into the situation we find our selves in now.  This is not the time to revert back to old habits and feeling that with this new president, everything is fine……it isn’t.  Whatever your political leanings, now is the time to stand up and speak out.

Why the Elephant died…hopefully the end of the Republican party

Why the Elephant died

I am writing you to announce the coming wake for the former Republican Party.  No flowers, please.  Most knew the end was coming, although some stubbornly clung on to the cesspool of viciousness, greed, contempt and unsavory characters that had come to characterize and symbolize, not the best in America, but the worst.  But, thankfully we are moving forward, leaving behind the worst president ever in our history and with him, the most anti-American political faction ever to have soiled the White House and our government.

There were thirty Republicans who did not seek re-election.  I have this theory that when the rats are fleeing the sinking ship we need to watch to see where they are going.  In this case, we already know why; all the catastrophic damage done to the country since the corruption of the 2000 election and the subsequent manipulation of the 2004 election is about to come apart.  Heads are going to roll and many of those taking flight are exercising the fine art of C.Y.A.. (Covering you’re a–) is an art that has been finely honed by the neo-con, anti-American faction of the Republican party.

But, there are those in the wreckage of the Republican party who still don’t get it; those who are today wondering why the wedge issues didn’t work, why the sickening and disgusting emails containing misleading or outright false information about Republican opponents didn’t scare everyone into voting the [right] way, according to the party line.  And of course, there are the hate radio personalities, the faux news personalities and other social outcasts who found their niche in this swamp of radical ideology that was the antithesis of America.  For those of you still clinging to this rotting corpse, don’t worry.  Anne Coulter (or is it Andy?) has written yet another of her/his baseless, pointless and stupid books that will be purchased in bulk by her/his rich friends to make it appear to be a best-seller.  (You’ll never actually meet anyone who has read even one of them)

The unspoken truth about why McCain didn’t succeed is this:   We are tired of being terrorized by our own government.  What we heard from the Republican campaign was four more years of Bush & Co.  Four more years of corruption of government, the constitution, our civil liberties, and four more years of created crisis’s to enable pre-planned end results, none of which benefited anyone but a few at the top while the rest of the country sunk further into recession.  But, ultimately, we are damned tired of having to fear our own government.

Palin, who was selected first because she was a woman, and second because she was attractive, was thought to be the end all, be all for the ticket.  She was supposed to be the ringer, the one who brought home the victory.  With their usual arrogance, the Republican party just assumed that all she had to do was to show up.  Unfortunately for them, even Republican voters could see this woman was not prepared, much less qualified, to hold the office of Vice President, and surely not a viable replacement for McCain should there be a need for her to step in.  The problems with Palin as a candidate are just too numerous to go into here.

In the end, it seems all the emails meant to degrade and humiliate Obama, calling him the anti-Christ, claiming he is a communist, a socialist a fascist….the emails highlighting his middle name Hussein, questioning his birth place, questioning his patriotism, all of the rancid and disgusting writings suggesting all sorts of sordid things speaks volumes about the demise of what was once a respectable party.  These circulating emails could only have appealed to the most uneducated and gullible in our population, and, these things highlighted the gross lack of integrity, of character, of morals by a party that tried to portray itself as being the epitome of these things and the party of “God”.  It is obvious the veil has lifted and America sees this party for the roiling mass of ugliness that it is.

I don’t know what’s ahead in an Obama administration.  What I do know is that I don’t have the sense of dread, of hopelessness I would have had, had McCain won.  The other thing I know is that I am, it seems, very conservative…..but I can’t be a part of the Republican party.   Considering the number of people who abandoned the Republican party in this election, many feel the same way.

The days of hate filled campaigns, filled with innuendo, mud-slinging, negative attack ads and vilifying and at times utterly destroying a person whose only sin was to run against you for the same office, are over.  The American people are tired of it, and quite frankly, we deserve more than misleading information or fear mongering.  And many of us are tired of the party of the elephant which has come to signify greed, corruption, secrecy and a total lack of morals or values.

May the elephant rest in peace…..somewhere else.
