How Aspartame Became Legal – The Timeline

As the reports of Aspartame related diseases, malignancies and diabetes occurrence and/ or exacerbation mount, the patent by G.D. Searle is about to run out.  When it does, aspartame will be added to thousands of new products.  As it is, over 5,000 products now contain aspartame and many of them are not labeled as such.

The following article from Rense, 2002, lays out an exacting timeline of how this poisonous substance was approved for human consumption in spite of all the evidence that it was lethal.

How Aspartame Became Legal – The Timeline

From Rich Murray

March 8, 1977– G. D. Searle hires prominent Washington insider Donald Rumsfeld as the new CEO to try to turn the beleaguered company around. A former Member of Congress and Secretary of Defense in the Ford Administration, Rumsfeld brings in several of his Washington cronies as top management.

“Excellent documentary showing how dangerous artificial sweetener Aspartame is. From its history, to its effects this video is enough to shock anyone into really looking at there food labels next time they shop. What Barack Obama Will Not Do as President

                                       by Alan Adaschik

America just survived the nightmare of living under the worst possible president anyone could imagine; George W. Bush.  No one can say anything good about his accomplishments while in office and this includes Republicans who are loyal to him.  This is because everything George Bush did was to the detriment of the people of this Nation and to the rest of the world.  As a President, he was a total failure and he deliberately worked to destroy everything that was right about our Nation and its government.  This includes:

·     Turning the office of the President into a dictatorship

·     Tightening the New World Orders grip upon our Nation

·     Increasing government secrecy

·     Opening the revolving door between corporations and government agencies

·     Reducing the effectiveness of and politicizing all government agencies

·     Increased the national debt bringing the Nation to the brink of bankruptcy

·     Broke down the wall between the separation between church and state

·     Wrongfully rewrote legislation through the use of signing statements

·     Wrongfully rewrote legislation through the use of executive orders

·     Worked to eliminate checks and balances in government

·     Eliminated citizen rights including inalienable ones

·     Introduced torture as a legitimate tool of government

·     Broke treaties and ignored international law

·     Lied to the American people about everything

·     Established an illegal prison system outside our borders

·     Wrongfully invaded a weak foreign nation on a lie

·     Failed to prevent 9/11 and is remiss in fighting the war on terror

·     Mishandled the Katrina disaster

·     Etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum

No, George Bush did nothing good for America and nothing good for the world.  While in office, his actions were undertaken solely for the benefit of our New World Order masters and the corporate executives who hold him firmly in their pockets.  In the final analysis, the ultimate irony of this is that what he wrought is not even beneficial to these Fascists because the destruction of our environment and the collapse of our economic system benefits no one including the demented criminals of the New World Order.  Indeed, America is ready for change but it goes far beyond just being ready because George Bush has driven a dagger into the very heart of what America is supposed to be and if his actions are not reversed, the American experiment in Republican Democracy is definitely over.

Enter Barack Obama into the picture!  What a breath of fresh air this man brings to the Presidency.  He is intelligent, articulate, handsome, and dedicated to his beautiful family.  Beyond this, he honestly wants to be a President for all Americans including those who do not have six figure incomes.  Furthermore, he is black and the vast majority of us living today never thought we would see the day when a black man would be elected as our President.  Americans should be proud that we are mature enough to look past the color of a man’s skin and judge a person based upon the character and abilities he has to offer in the service of his country.  Truly, Barack Obama has already changed America by the very act of being elected and to further succeed all he has to do reverse and not do what George Bush did.  The real issue is how committed he really is to doing this?

Barack Obama is our President because he promised to bring about “change” and the areas he intends to concentrate his efforts on are the economy, Iraq, and health care.  Anyone who owns a television knows this is the case and certainly a majority of us are in favor of changes in these areas.  This is all well and good as far as it goes, but the reality of our situation is such that it doesn’t go very far and the truth of the matter is that we really know very little about what Barack Obama will actually do when he takes office.  This is the problem with electing a populist President.  He makes you feel good and proud to be an American and there is certainly something to be said for this, but substance and perceptions are two different things and it is substance that makes or breaks a presidency.

Like most Americans, I was overjoyed when Barack Obama was elected President, but I had reservations because he is a member of one of our two dominating political parties.  To be sure, our electoral process boils down to the party seeking power trying to convince people that they will solve the problems created by the party still in power.  But the real truth, which most Americans do not understand, is that we are where we are today because both political parties collaborated and cooperated to get us here.  Eight years is not time enough to entirely change where our Nation is heading, so it stands to reason that our hijacked ship of state is on a course determined by its equally culpable co-captains; the Republicans and Democrats in keeping with the wishes and mandates of our New World Order masters.  Therefore, while Barack Obama focused his entire campaign upon change, a prudent citizen is more than justified in wondering just how committed to change Barack Obama really is.  While no one can make this determination with definitive certainty, enough information is available to make a reasonable determination as to what he will and will not do.

National Security Presidential Directive and Homeland Security Presidential Directive

  White House News

SUBJECT: Biometrics for Identification and Screening to Enhance National Security

This directive establishes a framework to ensure that Federal executive departments and agencies (agencies) use mutually compatible methods and procedures in the collection, storage, use, analysis, and sharing of biometric and associated biographic and contextual information of individuals in a lawful and appropriate manner, while respecting their information privacy and other legal rights under United States law.

(1)  The executive branch has developed an integrated screening capability to protect the Nation against “known and suspected terrorists” (KSTs).  The executive branch shall build upon this success, in accordance with this directive, by enhancing its capability to collect, store, use, analyze, and share biometrics to identify and screen KSTs and other persons who may pose a threat to national security.

(2)  Existing law determines under what circumstances an individual’s biometric and biographic information can be collected.  This directive requires agencies to use, in a more coordinated and efficient manner, all biometric information associated with persons who may pose a threat to national security, consistent with applicable law, including those laws relating to privacy and confidentiality of personal data.

(3)  This directive provides a Federal framework for applying existing and emerging biometric technologies to the collection, storage, use, analysis, and sharing of data in identification and screening processes employed by agencies to enhance national security, consistent with applicable law, including information privacy and other legal rights under United States law.

(4)  The executive branch recognizes the need for a layered approach to identification and screening of individuals, as no single mechanism is sufficient.  For example, while existing name-based screening procedures are beneficial, application of biometric technologies, where appropriate, improve the executive branch’s ability to identify and screen for persons who may pose a national security threat. To be most effective, national security identification and screening systems will require timely access to the most accurate and most complete biometric, biographic, and related data that are, or can be, made available throughout the executive branch.

(5)  This directive does not impose requirements on State, local, or tribal authorities or on the private sector.  It does not provide new authority to agencies for collection, retention, or dissemination of information or for identification and screening activities.

(6)  In this directive:

(a)  “Biometrics” refers to the measurable biological (anatomical and physiological) and behavioral characteristics that can be used for automated recognition; examples include fingerprint, face, and iris recognition; and

(b)  “Interoperability” refers to the ability of two or more systems or components to exchange information and to use the information that has been exchanged.

(7)  The ability to positively identify those individuals who may do harm to Americans and the Nation is crucial to protecting the Nation.  Since September 11, 2001, agencies have made considerable progress in securing the Nation through the integration, maintenance, and sharing of information used to identify persons who may pose a threat to national security.

(8)  Many agencies already collect biographic and biometric information in their identification and screening processes. With improvements in biometric technologies, and in light of its demonstrated value as a tool to protect national security, it is important to ensure agencies use compatible
methods and procedures in the collection, storage, use, analysis, and sharing of biometric information.

(9)  Building upon existing investments in fingerprint recognition and other biometric modalities, agencies are currently strengthening their biometric collection, storage, and matching capabilities as technologies advance and offer new opportunities to meet evolving threats to further enhance national security.

(10) This directive is designed to (a) help ensure a common recognition of the value of using biometrics in identification and screening programs and (b) help achieve objectives described in the following:  Executive Order 12881 (Establishment of the National Science and Technology Council); Homeland Security Presidential Directive‑6 (HSPD‑6) (Integration and Use of Screening Information to Protect Against Terrorism); Executive Order 13354 (National Counterterrorism Center); Homeland Security Presidential Directive‑11 (HSPD‑11) (Comprehensive Terrorist Related Screening Procedures); Executive Order 13388 (Further Strengthening the Sharing of Terrorism Information to Protect Americans); National Security Presidential Directive‑46/Homeland Security Presidential Directive‑15 (NSPD-46/HSPD-15) (U.S. Policy and Strategy in the War on Terror); 2005 Information Sharing Guidelines; 2006 National Strategy for Combating Terrorism; 2006 National Strategy to Combat Terrorist Travel; 2007 National Strategy for Homeland Security; 2007 National Strategy for Information Sharing; and 2008 United States Intelligence Community Information Sharing Strategy.

(11) Through integrated processes and interoperable systems, agencies shall, to the fullest extent permitted by law, make available to other agencies all biometric and associated biographic and contextual information associated with persons for whom there is an articulable and reasonable basis for suspicion that they pose a threat to national security.

(12) All agencies shall execute this directive in a lawful and appropriate manner, respecting the information privacy and other legal rights of individuals under United States law, maintaining data integrity and security, and protecting intelligence sources, methods, activities, and sensitive law enforcement information.

Policy Coordination

(13) The Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, in coordination with the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, shall be responsible for interagency policy coordination on all aspects of this directive.

Roles and Responsibilities

(14) Agencies shall undertake the roles and responsibilities herein to the fullest extent permitted by law, consistent with the policy of this directive, including appropriate safeguards for information privacy and other legal rights, and in consultation with State, local, and tribal authorities, where appropriate.

(15) The Attorney General shall:

(a)  Provide legal policy guidance, in coordination with the Secretaries of State, Defense, and Homeland Security and the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), regarding the lawful collection, use, and sharing of biometric and associated biographic and contextual information to enhance national security; and

(b)  In coordination with the DNI, ensure that policies and procedures for the consolidated terrorist watchlist maximize the use of all biometric identifiers.

(16) Each of the Secretaries of State, Defense, and Homeland Security, the Attorney General, the DNI, and the heads of other appropriate agencies, shall:

(a)  Develop and implement mutually compatible guidelines for each respective agency for the collection, storage, use, analysis, and sharing of biometric and associated biographic and contextual information, to the fullest extent practicable, lawful, and necessary to protect national security;

(b)  Maintain and enhance interoperability among agency biometric and associated biographic systems, by utilizing common information technology and data standards, protocols, and interfaces;

(c)  Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedures respecting information privacy, other legal rights, and information security;

(d)  Establish objectives, priorities, and guidance to ensure timely and effective tasking, collection, storage, use, analysis, and sharing of biometric and associated biographic and contextual information among authorized agencies;

(e)  Program for and budget sufficient resources to support the development, operation, maintenance, and upgrade of biometric capabilities consistent with this directive and with such instructions as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget may provide; and

(f)  Ensure that biometric and associated biographic and contextual information on KSTs is provided to the National Counterterrorism Center and, as appropriate, to the Terrorist Screening Center.

(17) The Secretary of State, in coordination with the Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security, the Attorney General, and the DNI, shall coordinate the sharing of biometric and associated biographic and contextual information with foreign partners in accordance with applicable law, including international obligations undertaken by the United States.

(18) The Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, through the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), shall coordinate executive branch biometric science and technology policy, including biometric standards and necessary research, development, and conformance testing programs.  Recommended executive branch biometric standards
are contained in the Registry of United States Government

Recommended Biometric Standards and shall be updated via the NSTC Subcommittee on Biometrics and Identity Management.

(19) Within 90 days of the date of this directive, the Attorney General, in coordination with the Secretaries of State, Defense, and Homeland Security, the DNI, and the Director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, shall, through the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, submit for the President’s approval an action plan to implement this directive.  The action plan shall do the following:

(a)  Recommend actions and associated timelines for enhancing the existing terrorist-oriented identification and screening processes by expanding the use of biometrics;

(b)  Consistent with applicable law, (i) recommend categories of individuals in addition to KSTs who may pose a threat to national security, and (ii) set forth cost-effective actions and associated timelines for expanding the collection and use of biometrics to identify and screen for such individuals; and

(c)  Identify business processes, technological capabilities, legal authorities,  and research and development efforts needed to implement this directive.

(20) Within 1 year of the date of this directive, the Attorney General, in coordination with the Secretaries of State, Defense, and Homeland Security, the DNI, and the heads of other appropriate agencies, shall submit to the President, through the Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism, a report on the implementation of this directive and the associated action plan, proposing any necessary additional steps for carrying out the policy of this directive.  Agencies shall provide support for, and promptly respond to, requests made by the Attorney General in furtherance of this report.  The Attorney General will thereafter report to the President on the implementation of this directive as the Attorney General deems necessary or when directed by the President.

General Provisions

(21) This directive:

(a)  shall be implemented consistent with applicable law, including international obligations undertaken by the United States, and the authorities of agencies, or heads of such agencies, vested by law;

(b)  shall not be construed to alter, amend, or revoke any other NSPD or HSPD in effect on the effective date of this directive;

(c)  is not intended to, and does not, create any rights or benefits, substantive or procedural, enforceable by law or in equity by a party against the United States, its departments, agencies, instrumentalities, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

Weather Warfare: Beware the US military’s experiments with climatic warfare

Climatic warfare’ has been excluded from the agenda on climate change.

Global Research, December 7, 2007

The Ecologist, December 2007

“HAARP is a weapon of mass destruction, capable of destabilizing agricultural and ecological systems globally.”

‘Climatic warfare’ potentially threatens the future of humanity, but has casually been excluded from the reports for which the IPCC received the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.”

Pdf version of article on Weather Warfare by Michel Chossudovsky, The Ecologist, December 2007 (pdf)

Rarely acknowledged in the debate on global climate change, the world’s weather can now be modified as part of a new generation of sophisticated electromagnetic weapons. Both the US and Russia have developed capabilities to manipulate the climate for military use.

Colossal Financial Collapse

The Truth behind the Citigroup Bank “Nationalization”

By F. William Engdahl  (excerpted from the article)

On Friday November 21, the world came within a hair’s breadth of the most colossal financial collapse in history according to bankers on the inside of events with whom we have contact. The trigger was the bank which only two years ago was America’s largest, Citigroup. The size of the US Government de facto nationalization of the $2 trillion banking institution is an indication of shocks yet to come in other major US and perhaps European banks thought to be ‘too big to fail.’

November 25, 2008 “Global Research” — The clumsy way in which US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, himself not a banker but a Wall Street ‘investment banker’, whose experience has been in the quite different world of buying and selling stocks or bonds or underwriting and selling same, has handled the unfolding crisis has been worse than incompetent. It has made a grave situation into a globally alarming one.

‘Spitting into the wind’

A case in point is the secretive manner in which Paulson has used the $700 billion in taxpayer funds voted him by a labile Congress in September. Early on, Paulson put $125 billion in the nine largest banks, including $10 billion for his old firm, Goldman Sachs. However, if we compare the value of the equity share that $125 billion bought with the market price of those banks’ stock, US taxpayers have paid $125 billion for bank stock that a private investor could have bought for $62.5 billion, according to a detailed analysis from Ron W. Bloom, economist with the US United Steelworkers union, whose members as well as pension fund face devastating losses were GM to fail.

That means half of the public’s money was a gift to Paulson’s Wall Street cronies. Now, only weeks later, the Treasury is forced to intervene to de facto nationalize Citigroup. It won’t be the last.

Paulson demanded, and got from a labile US Congress, Democrat as well as Republican, sole discretion over how and where he can invest the $700 billion, to date with no effective oversight. It amounts to the Treasury Secretary in effect ‘spitting into the wind’ in terms of resolving the fundamental crisis.(end excerpt)

All terrorism all the time……BRASSCHECK TV/video

It’s Thanksgiving which means a lot in America and nothing here in Milan, Italy where I’m spending a few days.

But where ever you are, if you turn on CNN or the BBC (the only two English channels you can reliably get in Europe), it’s been “all terrorism, all the time” on TV since last night.

Now I don’t dispute that the attacks in India are news or that the deaths and injuries are tragic, but does this story merit all day and night coverage.

And you can hear the newscasters doing everything they can to build up the story, its significance, and its dire portents for the future of humanity.

I notice that the European news stations note what happened and then get on to news from the rest of the world.

Not so for the terrorism obsessed US and UK. They’re going to make this

into the biggest event since landing a man on the moon if its the last thing they do.

What gives?

Yesterday, the day began with news that the US just threw another trillion dollar log on the fire to try to stop the slow motion train wreck that threatens to collapse the world financial system.

Less than 24 hours later, that’s history.

Now it’s “all terrorism, all the time” this time at a luxury hotel in Mumbai, India.

One Subject At a Time Act……DownsizeDC.org

D o w n s i z e r – D i s p a t c h

Quote of the Day: “The practice of combining into one Bill Subjects diverse in their nature and having no necessary connection, thereby to secure the passage of several measures, no one of which could succeed on its own merits, both corrupts Congress and endangers the American constitutional republic.” — One Subject At A Time Act, Section 2(f)

Subject: OSTA would prevent monstrosities like the Big Bailout bill

Last week we described how the bailout bill (H.R. 1424) empowered the IRS to do undercover entrapments and reveal your tax information.

What does that have to do with “rescuing the economy?” Nothing.

The bailout bill was stuffed with unrelated provisions to win the votes of pork-minded Congresspeople, and passed quickly before anyone could read it. This made it easy to add provisions that couldn’t have passed by themselves in the full light of day.

The original bailout bill was bad. The final bill was worse. This wouldn’t have happened had the “One Subject At A Time Act” (OSTA) been in force. Here are three examples of how OSTA would have stopped the Big Bailout bill . . .

OSTA says: “No Bill or Joint Resolution shall embrace more than one subject at a time, and that shall be clearly and descriptively expressed in the Title.”

The Big Bailout bill had at least 5 “subjects,” and not all of them were mentioned in the bill’s title.

OSTA says: “An Appropriations Bill shall not contain any general legislation or change of existing law provision, the subject of which is not germane to the subject matter of each such Appropriations Bill…”

The Big Bailout bill combined appropriations (buying troubled assets) with general legislation (such as the Wellstone Mental Health Equity Act).

OSTA says: “A Bill amending or revising a statute shall identify the statute to be amended by its Title or Number of Public Law, or Chapter or Section of the United States Code, and shall set forth completely each section or subsection as it would read if the amendment or revision to that section or subsection were adopted, noting clearly the proposed insertions or deletions to the existing statutory text.”

The Big Bailout bill makes at least 200 amendments to existing laws without revealing the full meaning of the changes. Here’s an example . . .

“Section 257 of the National Housing Act (12 U.S.C. 1715z-23) is amended–(1) in subsection (e)–(A) in paragraph (1)(B), by inserting before `a ratio’ the following: `, or thereafter is likely to have, due to the terms of the mortgage being reset,’;”

What does that mean? We don’t have a clue, and neither did those who voted for the bill. They would have had to research each of the 200 original provisions to really understand what they were voting to pass. OSTA would have helped them by requiring the original provision to be printed next to the amendment. OSTA would make bills understandable.

Use our Educate the Powerful System to tell Congress to introduce and pass the One Subject At A Time Act (OSTA).

Use your personal comments in your message to Congress to tell your elected representatives . . .

* It was wrong to include unrelated provisions in the bailout bill — OSTA would have prevented that!
* OSTA will help members of Congress by printing amended provisions of the U.S. Code in the bill next to the amendments
* They are failing in their duty to represent you if they do not introduce the One Subject At A Time Act

Help spread the word about OSTA by sending this Dispatch to others, by reprinting it on your blog, and by “Digging” it on our blog.

Thank you for being a part of the growing Downsize DC Army.

Cheney & Gonzales indicted in Texas…….BRASSCHECK TV/video

I’m not sure anyone can fix the trashed

world financial system…but I’ll personally feel a whole lot better when Dick Cheney and George Bush are in jail.

Half of that ideal may be on the verge of being achieved.

A Texas prosecutor has just filed a formal indictment against Cheney for being part of a criminal conspiracy.

Interesting case…

Privately owned prisons abused prisoners…

Cheney was an investor in these prisoners…

he and former crooked Attorney General Alberto Gonzales actively interfered with the investigation of abuses, including murder, in these prisons.

It’s a RICO charge – the operation of an organized criminal enterprise.

And the indictments are real.

Will Mr. Cheney soon be a guest at the Graybar Hotel?

I certainly hope so. It would be good for America’s soul.

Home Page:  Three new selections have been added to the blue menu on the left side of the home page.  These are:

GOD & GOVERNMENT – There is a serious movement afoot in this Nation to breech the wall of separation between church and state.  This series exposes who’s behind this movement, what’s at stake, and why the people involved are anything but Christian.

THE NEW WORLD ORDER – The New World Order lays claim to the right to rule the world.  This series of articles tells you what these sick people are all about, why they are the worst people to have ruling anything, and why their rule is a curse upon us all.

OUR ENVIRONMENT – The New World Order is hard at work doing everything it can to destroy our environment and make life as we know it impossible on this planet.  This series of articles tell us how they are going about doing this and why they will succeed.

Articles & Essays:  Two new articles have been added to this area of the site entitled “Gay Marriage” and “What Barack Obama Will Not Do as President”  “Gay Marriage” demonstrates why the movement to keep gays from calling their union a marriage boils down to nothing more than the majority tyrannizing the minority.  “What Barack Obama Will Not Do as President” demonstrates that when it comes to real change, Barack Obama is just more of the same because being a Democrat, he pays homage to the international criminals of the New World Order.

I noticed that “clippy” as he is called….jumped up on the screen with this same prompt when I accessed opencongress.org, Constitution Forum, and my own name. Another time he appeared when I was playing online solitaire.

I have no doubt my blog, my name, and the articles I have been writing for several years have earned me a spot on at least a few of your notorius blacklists.  You know the ones.  Where everyone who speaks out against the illegal policies and actions of this government are added to lists such as “suspected terrorist”.  Terrorist “watchlist”……”You breathe so you could be a terrorist” list.  Or Bachmann’s “Everybody but me could be a terrorist” list!

Just so I make myself plain here, the justification for my search terms is this:

I WANTED TO!  That’s all the justification I need.  And you need to stop invading my privacy.  Find something worthwhile to do……like looking for those real terrorists …….that’s what you are getting paid for.  After all, we have been told for eight years how they are lurking under every rock, around every corner and are supposedly just lying in wait here on the net with big plans on how to brainwash us all into anti-American radicalism.

It is you who are the terrorists.  You who are consumed with radical ideology, and you who have been one of the greatest causes of loss of trust in our government.  What kind of person takes on this kind of job?  Was it lack of character?  Lack of integrity?  What flaw in your personality, or combination of flaws qualified you for this position?

The fact is, the TIA isn’t trying to catch terrorists……they are simply spying on us, gathering useless information to add to piles of other useless information.  I guess when you are part of a government that has done so much to harm its own people and to betray them……you come to fear them.

TV Spies on Viewers

TV Spies on Viewers

Ground-breaking legislation in California is fighting Microsoft and AOL to stop them creating the machine George Orwell foresaw – the TV set that watches you.

At the same time, a new book titled Spy TV exposes the methods by which digital interactive television will observe and experiment of viewers. It describes how neural network software will be used to create “psychographic profiles” and then “modify the behavior” of individuals.

This year broadcasters will celebrate interactive TV in public, using words like “convenience” and “empowerment”. AOL TV is rolling out with the TiVo personal video recorder (PVR), that helps viewers find and save programs they might like. Microsoft is launching its own PVR called Ultimate TV, claiming “It puts you in control!”. But while you may be sold on home shopping and chat, broadcasters have been selling advertisers their new power to monitor everything you do with your remote.

At industry conferences on interactive TV, Microsoft has been handing out specifications of its new platform. Their Microsoft TV Server, for instance, enables “optimizes revenue opportunities by providing rich personalization and targeting of content and ads to consumers based on their television viewing and Web surfing histories and preferences.”

Matthew Timms, of Two Way TV in London, describes this surveillance in the home in plain English:

“..Somehow they feel they’re sitting there – it’s just them and the television – even though the reality is it’s got a wire leading straight back to somebody’s computer.”

Now in bookstores, Spy TV is the backbone of an effort by White Dot, the anti-television campaign, to educate the public about this invasive technology. Finally his paying customers will get to hear Phil Swain of Cable and Wireless describe the huge amounts of data he will gather:

“Changing channels, selecting certain programs, viewing habits, browsing through interactive sites, purchasing habits, all that kind of stuff we can track. Every click, we can track. We will be recording that information.”

In another recent development, Motorola Broadband, ACTV and OpenTV have announced investment in a subsidy called SpotOn, designed to create profiles of over 7 million viewers, without their knowledge. ACTV looks forward to delivering commercials based on “the specific profile of an individual household, which is generated by ACTV’s software within the digital set-top in the home.”

SpotOn’s head of Sales in Dever, Bob Evans is proud of what he sells advertisers:

“That (set-top) box can hold 64,000 bits of information about you!”

Top Ten Reasons to Reject Dangerous ID (the so-called Real ID) Act of 2005

Excerpted from the article:

And the #1 Reason why the states should REJECT Dangerous ID is therefore…

1.The Dangerous ID Act makes your State Issued Driver’s License a National ID Card!
The Dangerous ID Act is a bad law passed under false pretenses. It was rejected three separate times by the U.S. Senate, and was only passed because it was buried in a larger bill containing disaster relief and funding for Iraq. The Senate didn’t want it, and the American people don’t want it either. But the majority leadership in Congress imposed it on us, and so now we have to fight to preserve our state’s and citizens’ constitutional rights by rejecting it.

2. Dangerous ID is Void on its face!
Because Congress has exceeded its lawful authority in attempting to place a mandate upon the states which it has no constitutional authority to mandate, and because it has passed a law without the constitutional power or authority to do so, the Dangerous ID Act, on its very face, is entirely VOID and of no effect. The Supreme Court has ruled that: “The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute, though having the form and name of law, is in reality no law, but is wholly void, and ineffective for any purpose; since unconstitutionality dates from the time of its enactment, and not merely from the date of the decision so branding it. An unconstitutional law, in legal contemplation, is as inoperative as if it had never passed. Such a statute leaves the question that it purports to settle just as it would be had the statute not been enacted. Since an unconstitutional law is void, the general principles follow that it imposes no duties, confers no rights, creates no office, bestows no power or authority on anyone, affords no protection, and justifies no acts performed under it…A void act cannot be legally consistent with a valid one. An unconstitutional law cannot operate to supersede any existing valid law. Indeed, insofar as a statute runs counter to the fundamental law of the land, it is superseded thereby. No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it.” 16th American Jurisprudence 2d Session 177 late 2nd, Section 25

Leveraging the auto industry bailout……or, How to use corruption to break the unions

The auto industry just like the financial industry is rife with corruption, greed and high paid executives who long ago forfeited any allegiance to their own country.  The auto industry, just like the financial industry, is bloated with global elitists who despise our country.  Money, power, absolute greed and control have replaced allegiance, loyalty or any sense of obligation.

The demand from auto industry executives (and it was a demand) that they be bailed out was an outright attempt at black mail.  Having failed to keep up with competing foreign producers and having continued to produce gas guzzling monster trucks and cars rather than lead in any innovation, the execs made plain that if they are not handed a big wad of cash…immediately….we’re all going down the tubes.  All…meaning you and me…but not them.

I had assumed this corporate entity that masquerades as our government at all levels would have simply acquiesced and doled out billions more in debt money leaving taxpayers once again holding the bag.  For some strange reason this time they want a [plan].  This time, they weren’t so sure that a bailout was the answer and they cited the lack of critical information from the auto makers as to why they needed the money and what they would do to correct this failing industry.  I was totally shocked!  Then reality set in……..

Why would congress,… after handing out what will amount to trillions upon trillions of debt dollars, tax dollars, to corrupt financial institutions while failing to demand any oversight, any regulation on how this money was to be portioned,… suddenly be wanting a plan from another group of very rich executives who have caused another industry to fail?

The answer came today as the flood of emails into my box piled up.  It isn’t the executives who failed to keep up with environmental concerns and innovations in technologies; it wasn’t that these companies had failed to keep themselves competitive by continuing to produce inefficient auto’s;  it wasn’t the millions and millions of dollars they took in pay and bonuses all the while knowing their respective companies were failing.  It wasn’t even their arrival on horrendously expensive private corporate jets (can’t have this kind of royalty flying with the common folks!)…….It is the UNION.  That’s what did it!

We have had eight years of hard core union busting and now the Democrats, once champions of unions, have jumped on the free market, free ride for the big guys, band wagon.  This is it in a nutshell.  The auto workers union is one of the largest, if not the largest in the country and they are going to bust this union or leave these workers high and dry and living in a box on a street in Detroit.

I knew this sudden sense of critical thinking, of rational planning had to have some other purpose.  Once this union is taken down the money will flow from congress like water over Niagra Falls.  Competitiveness will translate into low wages and no benefits.  Another sector of well paid workers will fall into the “barely above the poverty line” class, and the auto industry will continue to produce the same things it does now; only they will have our money and the prices of their outdated auto’s will remain too high.

Unions formed in response to businesses forming trade associations that actively worked to keep wages low and hours long while profiting from what amounted to human slavery.  It was unions that forced companies to pay better wages, to limit working hours to less than 12 or 15 hours a day, every day of the week.  It was unions that made workplace safety a priority.  And it was the unions that caused the rise in wages across the country bringing many out of poverty.

I realize that unions have also suffered from their fair share of corruption.  But here again, it has been the leaders of the unions, just as it is the leaders of predatory lending institutions who committed the crimes.  Union leaders who are corrupt are no different than corrupt CEO’s, yet we will disparage the one group and watch the other pamper themselves at a spa.

This latest bailout demand is less a financial need than it is an overt attempt to bust the union.  It was just too much to hope for that congress would do the right thing simply because it was the right thing.  And this time, its only a few hundred thousand American workers that will be directly affected by these companies folding.  And these aren’t those all important Wall Street workers either.  These people are blue collar workers and surely not worthy of any special treatment…..at least not the kind the Wall Street crooks and thieves got.

The whole intent of the “free-market, no regulation, no oversight, job off-shoring, tax dodging, don’t tax us we’re a corporation” crowd, is to dismantle the job market, break the economy and kill off the jobs.  That way when they come back around offering to pay you one dollar for the job that previously paid you ten dollars…you’ll take it.  By then you’ll be hungry enough, cold enough and desperate enough to think its a good deal.

by the Constitution or Act of Congress, willfully uses any part of the Army or the Air Force as a posse comitatus or otherwise to execute the laws shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.”

(Title 18, Section 1385 of the United States Code)

Troops Deployed On U.S. Streets        By Naomi Wolf

Excerpted from the article:

“Nothing. Their only recourse is to cut off funding. The Congress would be at the mercy of military leaders to go to them and ask them not to obey illegal orders.”

“I interviewed Vietnam veteran, retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and patriot David Antoon for clarification: “If the President directed the First Brigade to arrest Congress, what could stop him?”

“But these orders are now legal?'”

“If the President directs the First Brigade to arrest a bunch of voters, what would stop him?”

“Nothing. It would end up in courts but the action would have been taken.”

“If the President directs the First Brigade to kill civilians, what would stop him?”

“What would prevent him from sending the First Brigade to arrest the editor of the Washington Post?”

“Nothing. He could do what he did in Iraq — send a tank down a street in Washington and fire a shell into the Washington Post as they did into Al Jazeera, and claim they were firing at something else.”

“What happens to members of the First Brigade who refuse to take up arms against U.S. citizens?”

“They’d probably be treated as deserters as in Iraq: arrested, detained and facing five years in prison. In Iraq a study by Ann Wright shows that deserters — reservists who refused to go back to Iraq — got longer sentences than war criminals.”

“Does Congress have any military of their own?”

“No. Congress has no direct control of any military units. The Governors have the National Guard but they report to the President in an emergency that he declares.”

“Who can arrest the President?”

“The Attorney General can arrest the President after he leaves or after impeachment.”

[Note: Prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi has asserted it is possible for District Attorneys around the country to charge President Bush with murder if they represent districts where one or more military members who have been killed in Iraq formerly resided.]

“Given the danger do you advocate impeachment?”

“Yes. President Bush struck down Posse Comitatus — which has prevented, with a penalty of two years in prison, U.S. leaders since after the Civil War from sending military forces into our streets — with a ‘signing statement.’ He should be impeached immediately in a bipartisan process to prevent the use of military forces and mercenary forces against U.S. citizens”

THE TROOP EXCHANGE AGREEMENT…Massive ‘Homeland Defense’ Joint Exercise Is Underway

I was curious about how the Lt-General that signed the Troop Exchange Agreement with the U.S., on Canada’s behalf, fits in with NORTHCOM and

NORAD, the ‘Massive ‘Homeland Defense’ Joint Exercise’.

The Troop Exchange Agreement was signed on Feb 14th, 2008 under the name “Civil Assistance Plan”. The early information stated explicitly that the American troops can be called in by the Canadian government in the event of “civil emergency”. Today I see where either the language has been sanitized in response to the outrage, or it is being more clearly defined. From experience I would say that the spin doctors, the “communications specialists” have been at work. In some places it is now defined explicitly that the Civil Assistance Plan is for emergencies arising out of natural disasters like earthquakes. No mention of civil emergency arising out of man-made disasters like the tar sands development.

Anyway – – Lieutenant-General Charlie Bouchard is the Canadian representative on NORAD. He is not the one who signed the Troop Exchange Agreement.

From information circulated in our network in February or March, 2008:

“… Canada and the U.S. have signed an agreement that paves the way for the militaries from either nation to send troops across each other’s borders during an emergency, but some are questioning why the Harper government has kept silent on the deal.

Neither the Canadian government nor the Canadian Forces announced the new agreement, which was signed Feb. 14 in Texas.

The U.S. military’s Northern Command, however, publicized the agreement with a statement outlining how its top officer, Gen. Gene Renuart, and Canadian Lt.-Gen. Marc Dumais, head of Canada Command, signed the plan, which allows the military from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a civil emergency.”

Oct 1: “the First Brigade of the Third Infantry Division, three to four thousand soldiers, has been deployed in the United States as of October 1.”

DownsizeDC.org…..Should you pay autoworkers to do nothing?

Quote of the Day: “The Constitution poses no serious threat to our form of government.” — Joseph Sobran

Subject: Should you pay autoworkers to do nothing?

If the history of the current era is ever written properly it may be called “The Age of the Government Sponsored Scam.” The examples are piling up. Here’s the latest . . .

Did you know that GM and other automakers with UAW contracts have to pay many of their employees to do nothing! It’s called a Job Bank. Laid-off workers at Ford, GM, and Chrysler are paid 90% of their previous wages to sit in a room at the factory doing nothing!

Think of what this will mean if the politicians pass a bill to bailout GM, or Chrysler, or Ford. When you go to work you’ll be laboring part of the day to pay some members of the United Auto Workers union to sit and produce nothing.

Doesn’t that sound like a scam to you, and wouldn’t a bailout represent government sponsorship of this scam?

Do you think, perhaps, the Detroit automakers might not need a bailout if they didn’t sign such stupid contracts with the UAW union?

Do you think, perhaps, that no bailout should even be considered as long as such contracts are in place?

Do you think, perhaps, that the Democrats may ignore this problem unless they hear outrage about it from their constituents?

If you have Democratic representatives you may want to ponder whether they represent the unions, or you. Shouldn’t you ask them where their loyalties lie?

Or, if you have Republican representatives, do you think they might make an issue of this if you inform them of it?

And what about your friends, families, and neighbors? Shouldn’t they hear about this too?

Fortunately, the UAW contracts with the Detroit automakers are up for re-negotiation right now.

This is the ideal time to shout this story far and wide. Either . . .

* The UAW will have to give-up their do-nothing Job Banks, and perhaps save the Detroit automakers without the need for a bailout, or . . .
* The proposed bailout will fail in Congress if the Job Banks are still in place

Please do four things . . .

* Forward this message to your friends
* Open a Digg account and Digg this message on our blog, so more people will see it
* Use our
“No Bailouts” campaign to tell Congress that the UAW Job Banks provision makes the idea of a tax-funded bailout completely intolerable
* Use your personal comments to ask Democratic representatives whether they represent you, or the unions, and ask Republican representatives to make a major issue of this

Pirates in Suits……BRASSCHECK TV/video

The news is currently fascinated by the Somali pirates who are seizing tanker ships and holding them for ransom.

The story the media is missing are the pirates in suits who played with the world’s credit system by pushing huge cash loans on millions of people who had no way to pay them back.

Big loan portfolios = big bonuses so the bankers went wild.

The chickens are starting to come home to roost on these ill advised loans with devastating consequences.

Two insiders have blown the whistle on this little reported aspect of the sub-prime crisis and the carefully engineered sales machine that pumped out tens of billions of dollars in shaky, unsecured loans to people who never sought them out…

Keith Olbermann Broke Up With Me!

Headlined on 11/20/08:

by Shannyn Moore     Page 1 of 3 page(s)

“Like it’s not bad enough. I’ve been hearing loons talk about secession up here my whole life. In Alaska, the three top ballot seats: President, Senate and House of Representatives, have candidates on the ballot from the secessionist Alaska Independent Party. In two of the three, the AIP holds at least 4% of the vote. The felonious Ted Stevens looks like he has convinced over a hundred thousand Alaskans what he couldn’t convince 12 jurors of a few weeks ago.

Now, Keith Olbermann has the temerity to ask if it’s too late to sell Alaska back to the Russians. Repeatedly. America’s liberal boy-wonder is breaking up with me. He’s not the only one suggesting putting Alaska up on eBay, but I can only handle one break up at a time. Consider this partner counseling; the circle of truth; the trust tree.*

I’m like many Alaskans, just not the one you’ve been forced to get to know lately. I know what newspapers I read. I know Africa is NOT a country. I know Stephen Harper is the Prime Minister of Canada, and I know he has T.V. perfect hair. I know who makes up NAFTA – which I thought was a crock when it passed. My favorite birthday present this year was the return of Habeas Corpus in a 5-4 US Supreme Court decision on June 12th.

I’ve never been to New York City, but I wanted to puke in my mouth watching the Republican National Convention’s “9/11 Tribute to Fear.” I wasn’t born in the 60’s, but I know what race baiting is. I know the public executions of JFK, Malcolm X, MLK, and RFK-all in a five year span-drove the American progressive movement into a coma for nearly 40 years. A once empowered, liberal generation sat like Terry Schiavo watching balloons float by; Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush I, Bush II. Wars, the corporate job-exporting economy, the perilous environment, expanded human rights violations, erosion of civil rights, The US Constitution compromised; none of it registered due to blunt force trauma on the American psyche.”

Taxpayer money isn’t ours?

Congressman Joe Knollenberg states emphatically that taxpayer money is not OUR money while trying to rationalize the next round of bailouts, this time for auto-makers.  Well if it isn’t OUR money…then whose is it?   Knollenberg seems not be aware the federal government has no money of its own….it only has tax revenues from taxpayers, or money it borrows that must be repaid by taxpayers.  Liken this to your neighbor taking your paycheck and giving it to his friends who make their living as con men….then taking out a loan and putting your name down as the borrower and holding you responsible for the debt.

Watch this video and ask yourself why this man is still in office?

Want our laws enforced? You could be a hate group sympathizer!

Below are two letters.  The second letter was sent out prior to Ruthie Hendrycks appearing on Sue Jeffers radio show here in Minnesota.  As many of you know, Ruthie is a strong advocate for enforcement of our immigration laws and a secure border. As Ruthie has pointed out in the past, those who support enforcement of our laws, our immigration policies, and a secure border can be called all kinds of names………but if you’re an ILLEGAL ALIEN…..we aren’t even supposed to say that.

It would seem the MAIN STREET PROJECT AND CENTER FOR NEW COMMUNITY think wanting our communities protected from illegal immigration is the result of hate……maybe they haven’t noticed all the legal American workers losing their homes, their jobs and anything else they had.  Who is going to support all of these illegal aliens?  We are fast approaching the point where we can barely support ourselves.

Let’s Set the record straight

TO: Eric Ward

and the moles within MINNSIR (we have several)
Below you will find an email from an advocacy group concerning my recent radio appearance on the Sue Jeffers Radio Show.
For clarification – MINNSIR did not in anyway participate in this program at the urging of FAIR – for FAIR – or on behalf of FAIR.
It was a decision made entirely by MINNSIR and we are grateful for the opportunity.
Furthermore – no group speaks on behalf of MINNSIR – EXCEPT MINNSIR!!!!!
We recently posted – to members – an article by FAIR – as we do with many many groups across this nation combating illegal immigration, such as NumbersUSA, ALIPAC, Grassfire, FIRE Coalitions etc., and we will continue to do so as we see fit.
As for the Southern Poverty Law Center – they already have MINNSIR listed all by it’s self and we do not need the assistance of other organizations for clarity of where we stand.
It has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with hatred nor race and everything to do with illegal immigration and the LAW!
The insertion of racial integrity (the continued race card) only further provides proof of misguided and slanderous accusations – which I am sure our black members, hispanic members and legal citizen members – will attest to.
Now the record has been set straight

Dear friends,
Minnesotans Seeking Immigration Reform’s (MINN-SIR) Ruthie Hendrycks will be appearing on KTLK Radio (the Sue Jeffers Show) Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 5pm – 7pm in the Twin Cities area.  MINN-SIR is an affiliate of the nd; BORDER-BOTTOM: #0066cc 1px dashed”>Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and Ruthie Hendrycks has participated in numerous FAIR functions in the recent past.  FAIR is listed as a hate organization alongside the Ku Klux Klan and other white supremacists groups by the venerable civil rights organization the Southern Poverty Law Center (http://www.splcenter.org/intel/intelreport/article.jsp?aid=846).
Please take a moment to call the Sue Jeffers Show on Saturday, November 15th between 5pm and 7pm at:
Studio: 651-989-5855
Email: suejeffers@ktlkfm. com
Base your questions off the following:
1).  Why does Ruthie Hendrycks and MINN-SIR associate with a known hate organization?
2).  If Ruthie Hendrycks and MINN-SIR are serious about finding real solutions to the migration crisis why do they destroy their legitimacy by associating with the Federation for American Immigration Reform who the Southern Poverty Law Center calls a hate organization?
3).  Would Sue Jeffers invite members of the Ku Klux Klan or racists skinheads to come on the show to discuss affirmative action?  Why is KTLK being so irresponsible in this case?
4).  Tell Sue Jeffers that it is time to have a real discussion on immigration one that is free from the taint of bigotry and hatred.
Please forward this email to concerned community members.  You will find additional info rmation on the Federation for American Immigration Reform Below

Quotes of the Day:

“You can’t walk around unless you’ve got flak jackets, helmets on all the time, no matter where you are. It’s always struck me it’s almost like a Fellini movie, kind of unreal. The American people are told things are stable and secure, and violence is down. No American would walk outside there without a convoy!” — Chuck Hagel, upon returning from Baghdad

“At long last, the fragile state of Somalia seems to be slowly resurfacing from a searing bout of violence and humanitarian crisis. Interestingly, the light at the end of this decades-long tunnel is not burning at the behest of the United States or the United Nations; rather, it burns because Somali leaders, both within the government and without, have banded together. Frustrated by failed foreign interventions, they are now seeking sustainable Somali-based solutions. The key to success, going forward, is to keep it Somali-led. Further intervention from neighboring Ethiopia or the United States will be ruinous.” — Michael Shank, Communications Director, Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University, Senior Analyst at Foreign Policy In Focus

Subject: Real “Change” in Iraq

Many people think the U.S. occupation of Iraq has become a non-issue, for two reasons . . .

1. Violence is down
2. The U.S. government signed an agreement with the Iraqi government to continue the occupation

We feel differently. We think the occupation is still an issue, because . . .

* American soldiers continue to die
* The factions in Iraq haven’t reached a settlement, and have no incentive to do so as long as we remain there
* Somalia and Lebanon show that stable societies are grown from within, not engineered from without
* The “agreement” to continue the occupation was signed by a U.S. government that has now been repudiated
* The public legitimacy of the Iraqi government is also highly questionable
* The dollars being spent in Iraq belong in the pockets of struggling U.S. taxpayers

This is why we think the occupation is still an issue. We still want the occupation to end. We want change.

Barack Obama won election by promising change. He distinguished himself from Hillary Clinton and John McCain by having always opposed the Iraq invasion, and by promising to leave Iraq sooner rather than later. Iraq was a key issue to millions of Obama voters. Will they get the change they sought? Consider these points . . .

* Pro-war Congressman Rahm Emmanuel will be Obama’s Chief of Staff
* Pro-war Senator Clinton may become his Secretary of State
* Robert Gates, who favors an indefinite occupation, may remain as Secretary of Defense

With top advisers like these, who needs neo-con bogeymen? Perhaps in DC-speak, “change” means “let’s fool the yokels who think elections matter, and give them more of the same.”

Are we being too harsh on Obama too soon? We think not. We think our skepticism is justified. Remember . . .

We now know that George W. Bush was already scheming to invade Iraq when he promised us a “humble foreign policy,” and “no nation-building.” He also stocked his cabinet with aggressive interventionists, just like Obama has started to do.

This is how politicians behave. They promise one thing and do another. Obama is a politician, therefore . . .

We assume the worst.

And remember, Senator Obama voted to “legalize” warrantless spying. This, all by itself, is enough to justify extreme skepticism about our incoming president, no matter how much we may like him as a person.

If we want real change we’re going to have to demand it, constantly. Eternal vigilance!

The main argument for the occupation has been, “We broke it, so we must fix it.” But what if the Iraqi people don’t want us to “fix” them? What if they don’t want us there?

We think Congress should pass a resolution asking the Iraqi government to hold a public referendum on the U.S. occupation. This resolution would . . .

* Show respect to the Iraqi people
* Potentially legitimize the occupation, or end it
* Tell the President-elect that the American people still want what he promised — to leave Iraq

If you don’t buy the argument that Iraq has become a non-issue, and you do buy our argument that the Iraqi people must . . .

A. Settle their own differences
B. Be allowed to say yes or no to the U.S. occupation

And if you want to . . .

* Save American lives
* Save your tax dollars

Then . . .

Please tell Congress to pass a resolution requesting an Iraqi referendum on the occupation. You can do so using our quick-and-easy Educate the Powerful System.

Please also . . .

* Forward this message to others or re-post it on your own blog

Judge Bans Use Of “Illegal” and “Aliens”

Below is yet another assault on our amendment rights in the United States of America. We, the law abiding citizens can be called every name in the book when supporting OUR LAWS, but when the correct terminology is used to describe law breakers, this judge takes it upon herself to stifle our amendment rights. What next –

undocumented borrowers for bank robbers,

transportation specialists for human smugglers – absurd!

They are not immigrants either – that term is reserved for people who OBEY the law and enter the US with a green card or then become a legal resident.

I will not abide.

I, as an American, reserve my right to “Free Speech” and will continue to

refer to those who enter this Country in an unlawful manner as ILLEGAL ALIENS..

I would refer both Justice McGregor and the Hispanic Bar Assoc. to federal law,

US CODE Section 8 sub sections 1324 and 1325 for verification to usage of the term illegal alien,

and advise both Judge McGregor and the Hispanic Bar Association to future read  US code,1101(a) 3 which defines an “alien”.

The contention that no person is illegal is absurd – their ignorance of our laws and illegal entry into this Country gives them the title – ILLEGAL ALIEN.

To date, the United States of America remains a democracy – with individual rights and I will continue to exercise my right of Freedom of Speech. We are not and shall continue to …. combat socialism/communism,  which is exactly what you are advocating in your recent ruling by restricting specific terminology – for a bias agenda.

The truth speaks for itself – something You and the Hispanic Bar Association are attempting to stifle – The American People are smarter than either of you give them credit for and our rights will continue to be heard.

Co-opting religion to promote war

The current US President sees the war in Iraq as a Christian crusade…

Is this kind of bizarre thinking a rare and strange anomaly?

Unfortunately not.

The fact is “Christianity”is frequently co-opted and its missionaries are often used as a weapons.

The G-20 Washout

By Mike Whitney

November 17, 2008 “Information Clearinghouse” — As expected, the G-20 Economic Summit in Washington turned out to be a total bust. None of the problems which have pushed the global economy to the brink of disaster were resolved and none of the main players who gamed the system with their toxic securities were held accountable. Instead, the visiting dignitaries gorged themselves on stuffed quail and roast rack of lamb before settling on a toothless “Statement on Financial Markets” which accomplished absolutely nothing. The one noteworthy clause in the entire document is a two paragraph indictment of the United States as the perpetrator of the financial crisis. At least they got that right.

From the text:

“Root Causes of the Current Crisis: During a period of strong global growth, growing capital flows, and prolonged stability earlier this decade, market participants sought higher yields without an adequate appreciation of the risks and failed to exercise proper due diligence. At the same time, weak underwriting standards, unsound risk management practices, increasingly complex and opaque financial products, and consequent excessive leverage combined to create vulnerabilities in the system. Policy-makers, regulators and supervisors, in some advanced countries, did not adequately appreciate and address the risks building up in financial markets, keep pace with financial innovation, or take into account the systemic ramifications of domestic regulatory actions.

Major underlying factors to the current situation were, among others, inconsistent and insufficiently coordinated macroeconomic policies, inadequate structural reforms, which led to unsustainable global macroeconomic outcomes. These developments, together, contributed to excesses and ultimately resulted in severe market disruption.”

Bingo. The contagion started on Wall Street and that’s where the responsibility lies. It was the result of the Fed’s reckless low interest rates and lack of government oversight. This allowed market participants to create massive amounts of leverage via speculative bets on under-capitalized debt-instruments. The resulting collapse in value of all asset-classes across the spectrum has created a gigantic multi-trillion dollar capital hole in the global financial system which has precipitated violent swings in the stock markets, tightening credit, currency dislocations, soaring unemployment and deflation. Almost all of todays economic woes can be traced back to legislation that was promoted by key members of the Clinton and Bush administrations. (Many of who will now serve in the Obama White House) The G 20s statement puts the blame squarely where it belongs; on the Federal Reserve and Wall Street. More

At what point we will say “enough!”?  H.R 1955 and the companion S. 1959, both known as the,

Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007

are both nothing more than an outright assault on our civil liberties disguised as anti-terrorism prevention.  These bills are no different than the horrendous Patriot Act or the Security Enhancement Act of 2003.  The words terrorism, terrorist(s) are used only when our constitutional rights are being attacked, and then only as means of justifying the further erosion of our rights and the empowerment and expansion of the government and military over our daily lives.

Congress and the president are constitutionally prohibited from abridging our freedoms enumerated in the Constitution.  Why do we tolerate these overt acts of suppression and terrorism by those in our government who have become so fearful of the general population and what could be the reason for this fear?

We had the recent opportunity to vote all these bums out of office.  Why were so many of us so willing to re-elect those who have shown us they despise us?

Repealing the Federal Reserve Act

The biggest threat to our sovereign nation, to the very survival of our country is the Federal Reserve system.  The bill listed below was written By congressman Ron Paul.  It effectively ends the secretive and unconstitutional [central bank].  It would also end the fiat currency we call the US dollar and return the coining of money to congress, where it belongs.  The text of the bill is provided by opencongress.org.

(ii) manage the assets and liabilities of the Board and each such bank until such assets and liabilities are liquidated or assumed by the Secretary of the Treasury in accordance with this subsection; and

(B) may take such other action as may be necessary, subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Treasury, to wind up the affairs of the Board and the Federal reserve banks.

(A) IN GENERAL- The Director of the Office of Management and Budget shall liquidate all assets of the Board and the Federal reserve banks in an orderly manner so as to achieve as expeditious a liquidation as may be practical while maximizing the return to the Treasury.

Whatever happened to the war on terror?

We’re in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting god only knows who for god only knows what reason.

What about the home front?

Threat levels remain elevated, but from what exactly?

No one knows.

But the government manages to create new ways to waste money on every day.

The crying, whining and gnashing of teeth from the right…

Some days its just good to sit back and take it all in.  The Republican party, having imploded from within can’t decide whether to promote Sarah Palin to star status, or burn her at the stake for being a witch.  Personally, I would think option #2 is out as Ms. Palin has been officially de-witched by her pastor.

After the resounding defeat comprising all levels of government, suffered by the Republicans in this last election, someone with some grasp of reality should take control.  I don’t think its going to happen.  Apparently there is one faction still wanting to promote the party as the embodiment of fringe religious beliefs, and another faction that has realized this is no longer a sustainable premise.  Will rational thought and dialogue win out?  Or, will the wing-nuts retain control of what is now a fractured and dysfunctional party system?

I tell ya…. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving bunch of fools.  The Republican party defined itself with blowhards like Limbaugh, Coulter, Hannity and the bloated egomaniac, O’Reilly.  To be sure there were other players who all spewed the same vitriole, the same misinformation, the same disinformation; all the while whining and crying about liberal bias from mainstream media.  The problem with these icons of Republican hypocrisy is that they are..hypocrits.  And that’s being kind.  Limbaugh is a known junkie, O’Reilly tries to be a womanizer, Hannity is just loonie and Coulter…..we aren’t even sure whether thats a Ms. or a Mr., in my opinion.  But these personalities along with others too numerous to mention were elevated to star status by those on the right, not because they had any truths to reveal; not because they were intellectually savvy or superior, but because they were for sale and would say or do the most horrendous things on behalf of Republicans.

While these media parasites babbled on incessantly about morality, family values, who loved God and who didn’t, several Republicans were caught with their pants down so to speak,…..and one was even caught in a bathroom doing things most of us don’t comprehend (and don’t want to) and we don’t know just where his pants were at the time.

For eight years or more we have been assailed by the right wing phobic, myopic, anti-everything crowd.  The lock-stepping Republicans, who claimed to be more patriotic, to be favored by God, to be the emodiment of morality and virtuosity, who were, by their very existence as Republicans, more moral and family oriented than those liberals they castigated with such regularity…..showed us what they really were; and it had little to do with values or morality or even love of country.  It was however, quite profitable for most of them, at the expense of everyday Americans now forced to suffer the long term affects of unmitigated greed, corruption and anti-American policies and actions.  And every step of the way they were facilitated by radio and TV hacks who would otherwise never have been taken seriously by anyone.

Hopefully, enough of us have moved away from hate radio and faux news of any kind.  As their audiences dwindle and the pool of recessive genes needed to keep them operational fades to a distant memory, we can only hope the Republican party reinvents itself, or that it dies a deserved death.

Of course if they want to rev up their [base] they could always declare Sarah Palin a witch and claim she put a curse on them….it would be just as believable as anything else they have told us.

Quote of the Day: “If I want to be free from any other man’s dictation, I must understand that I can have no other man under my control.” — William Graham Sumner (1840-1910) Source: “The Forgotten Man and Other Essays,” 1919

Subject: Will seven years of damage to civil liberties be reversed?

We heard it repeatedly: “Change we can believe in.” That’s what the President-elect promised. Do you expect it?

Well, we’re going to demand it.

Our civil liberties were trashed during the last seven years.

Habeas Corpus. Torture. Warrantless spying. And more. Where do we begin? For one thing . . .

We want President Obama to tell us the magnitude of the Bush Administration’s warrantless spying on Americans.

In 2005 the New York Times exposed the so-called “Terrorist Surveillance Program.” They had to rush the story to publish the story before the Bush Administration could stop it with an injunction. The story scared the Bush administration. And rightly so.

They were breaking the law. Someone should’ve gone to jail. But the Bush Administration had cajones — big brass ones.

First, they stonewalled, misdirected, and refused to provide documents to Congress. They even subpoenaed the phone records of the investigating reporters.

Then they demanded that Congress legalize their crimes retroactively, and immunize the phone companies that had conspired with them.

It took two years, but the Bush administration got what it wanted.

First, they had to wait for an election to provide a Congressional majority of “change Democrats.” It was the Democrats who gave the president his “get out of jail free card.”

One notable “change Democrat” showed us what change really means. His name was Barack Obama. He changed from his 2006 stance and voted to give President Bush the unconstitutional powers and immunity from prosecution that President Bush so desperately wanted and needed.

Call me cynical, but perhaps the aspiring President Obama was looking ahead and decided he wanted those powers too. If so, it may be wishful thinking to hope that our “change” president will tell us where the bodies are buried — even though he could simply direct his team to do so. But actually, our hopes are more well-founded.

To begin with, we could get an accounting from whistleblowers. As our coalition partner, Caroline Frederickson at the ACLU, told the New York Times, “I’d bet there are a lot of career employees in the intelligence agencies who’ll be glad to see Obama take the oath so they can finally speak out against all this illegal spying and get back to their real mission.”

And the Times has also reported that, “New Yorker investigative reporter Seymour Hersh already has a slew of sources waiting to spill the Bush administration’s darkest secrets. ‘You cannot believe how many people have told me to call them on January 20.’ said Hersh.”

If the whistleblowers step forward, then all we need is simply for President Obama to stay out of the way. That would be sufficient “change” in this instance.

Second, there are going to be some “musical chairs” that will “change” the leadership of various Senate Committees. CQ reports, “John D. Rockefeller IV, D-W.Va., might give up the Intelligence gavel to take the helm at the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. If that happens, Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. is likely to chair the Intelligence panel.”

Senator Rockefeller was too accommodating to the Bush Administration. Senator Feinstein is no friend of civil liberties, but she’s been better than Rockefeller.

So “change” is possible, and will become more possible if we continue to push for it. Perhaps we all need to say, “Yes, we can!”

The best way to continue to apply pressure for real change is to ask for a complete reversal of President Bush’s trashing of our civil liberties. The best way to do that is to constantly pressure Congress to pass Ron Paul’s “American Freedom Agenda Act.”

This bill is so good that it’s supported by progressives, conservatives, and libertarians.

Please use our Educate the Powerful System to send another message to your elected representatives asking them to co-sponsor the “American Freedom Agenda Act.”

Use your personal comments to remind them that the election was about change, so change it what you want. Bush’s policies were repudiated, so they should also be repealed. The “American Freedom Agenda Act” does that.

Remember, stay tuned to these Dispatches. On Friday we plan to announce an exciting new project that will increase the speed at which the Downsize DC Army grows.

And thank you for being a part of that army.

Coming Back

Recently, I lost my job, but then found a new one within only five days. A fluke, to be sure, as it usually has taken weeks or months to do so, in the past. Now, after only two months, I have been laid off for lack of work, as so many are facing these days.

Someone I know was concerned that I may become depressed enough to use my new shotgun on myself, but, rest assured, that’s not in my plans, nor in my nature. I will eventually find a job again, just as I always have before. Nevertheless, this comment from a concerned friend led me to write the following:

There is nothing in death that I would ever prefer to even the worst of what life has to offer me. There is no harsh circumstance, no hardship, no pain I could ever endure that would cause me to want an end to my life. True, I would wish for an end to whatever suffering I might be going through at the moment, but that ending would be the end of my pain, not my life.

Why? How can I say this when so many human beings, faced with unspeakable horrors and unbearable pain and suffering have begged for death as a release from it? I can say this because it is my firm belief that, no matter how bad things may get, life is always preferable to death. The reason this is so is because, if one still has life, one has the ability and will, eventually, have the opportunity to come back – to rebound, to recover from whatever hell they are going through at the moment of their deepest despair.

If you opt, instead, for the release that death brings, you will end your pain and suffering, yes. However, when death comes to us, it is final and ultimate and once done it can never be undone. So, be careful what you wish for. In death, you may find an eternal release from all worldly cares and suffering, but in death you will also find the end of any means you might have had to conquer your foes, to right the wrongs, to recover from your setbacks.

It is the ability to come back that is so important, here. How many times have we all seen or heard of a “comeback” by a washed up actor or recording artist, for example? How many times has that comeback resulted in them not only regaining their career, but of going on to have an even better career than ever before? John Travolta comes to mind. As a young actor, just starting out, he met with early success and fame in his role as Vinny Barberino on the hit sitcom Welcome Back Kotter. But, when that series was canceled, so was his fledgling career as an actor. He didn’t work again for many years, until Quentin Tarrantino, a then obscure director/producer, himself, had a role for him as a hit man in the dark and quirky Pulp Fiction. It was Pulp Fiction that became Travolta’s comeback and he has enjoyed far greater fame and fortune ever since than he ever had before. He would have never achieved this if the vehicle for his comeback had never existed.

Life is your vehicle for your own comebacks. It is what enables us to carry on and, indeed, without it, there literally is nothing left to carry on with. As long as you continue to draw breath, you possess the ability to act, and it is action that will right all the wrongs, remove your pain and suffering and bring improvement. If life is discarded completely, it is irrevocably gone forever – and with it, all chance of ever recovering from whatever temporary setbacks besiege you. In our moment of pain, in our darkest hour, many of us lose sight of this simple but all-important fact: that life, no matter how bad it may become, always contains within itself the opportunity for you to become something better than you were before. In life, we find the means to recover and heal, to repair whatever damages have been done to us. In death, we lose all of our abilities forever.

So, whatever pain or sorrow you may find yourself facing, now or in the future, never lose sight of the fact that life, as harsh as it may be sometimes, is the great enabler. He who has life has everything. He who has life has the whole world – and another chance.

Fluoride Alert.org……what’s in your water?

Did you know? flouride

* Almost all of western Europe has rejected water fluoridation.

* Fluoride’s primary ‘benefits’ are topical, not systemic. There is no need to swallow fluoride.

* Children are receiving too much fluoride today. There is a need to reduce, not increase, current exposures.

* A growing body of evidence indicates that water fluoridation is ineffective and unnecessary.

* The fluoride chemical added to water is an unprocessed, industrial waste-product from the pollution scrubbers of the phosphate fertilizer industry.

* Just as fluoride can damage cells in developing teeth, fluoride can damage cells in other organs as well.

* Two-thirds of US communities, when given the chance to vote, have voted against fluoridation. Over 70 US communities have rejected water fluoridation since 1999.

downsizedc.org………Repeal Real ID

upc_v3b_icon                    Repeal the REAL ID Act

The REAL ID Act creates a centralized federal database of personal information about all Americans. Decisions about the exact nature and scope of this program will be made by unelected bureaucrats in the Executive Branch. It seems inevitable that biometric information and electronic tracking tags will be included at some point. No one intends a bad use for this system today, but it is inevitable that it will be used in bad ways in the future.

We are promised increased personal security in return for laying this new “foundation stone” for the creation of a future police state. But those who would trade freedom for security deserve neither, and will have neither.

Many good arguments can be made against REAL ID, but they all reduce to one overpowering truth. The more information government has the less it seems to know. The more power government has the less it seems able to accomplish. Big Government doesn’t work. The federal government needs to do less in order to accomplish more. Small government is focused government. We need smaller government, not a massive new federal identification system. Please ask Congress to repeal the REAL ID Act.

Sending a message is easy. You can write as much or as little as you want. And we start with a brief sentence or two for you. We do this so that . . .

  • No one can hijack our system for a purpose inconsistent with Downsizing DC.
  • But you can still personalize the rest of your message — explain why you were motivated to send this message, or what you believe is the most compelling argument in support of your position.

Are these messages read even with so many folks sending a common first line? You bet they are! Congress cannot afford not to pay attention. And many DC Downsizers get responses from their Congressmen. If you receive a letter, feel free to share it with us at comments@DownsizeDC.org.

Please provide your own password. Do not let the system create one for you. Remember your password. It will allow you to use our system easily in the future for other issues.

The REAL ID Act is a bad law passed under false pretenses. It was rejected three separate times by the U.S. Senate, and was only passed because it was added to a larger bill containing disaster relief and funding for Iraq. The Senate didn’t want it, and the American people don’t want it either. But the Republican majority leadership in Congress imposed it on us, and so now we have to fight to get it repealed.

If Republicans Were Smarter, They’d Be Republicans

Barack Obama’s Victory Speech tells you all you need to know about why the Republicans lost.

by John Armstrong
Friday, November 7, 2008

Barack Obama’s victory speech on Tuesday night is very interesting. At times it sounds more like he’s promoting Ron Paul’s Campaign for Liberty than accepting victory as a Democratic President.

The Republicans did not lose the election because of Sarah Palin.  Nor was it because of an overwhelming turnout.  Nor was it due to the desire of so many Americans to see “Change.”  The Republicans lost because they forgot what it meant to be a Republican.

Ronald Reagan said, “The heart and soul of conservatism is libertariansism.”

Barack Obama said, “The true strength of our nation comes…from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity and unyielding hope.”

Liberty?  Opportunity? These are not Democratic ideals. They were Republican ideals, until the Republicans  decided to rip the “heart and soul” out of their party to promote a neocon agenda of “security and safety.”  Without their heart and soul, they got their asses handed to them by the asses, er, donkeys.

To rub more salt into the wounds of the Republicans, Obama also said this about the Republican Party:

Let’s remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House, a party founded on the values of self-reliance and individual liberty and national unity.  Those are values we all share.

Self-reliance?  Yeah, like using tax money to “help people pay their mortgages” as McCain proposed?  Individual liberty?  Sure, unless you don’t think you should have your 4th Amendment rights violated to use a ticket you purchased from an airline.  National unity?  There has rarely been a time in our nation’s history when we’ve been more divided than leading into the election.

Why?  Because the Bush Doctrine of “you’re with us or against us” didn’t just apply to foreign nations.  It applied to anyone who wished to use their first amendment rights to criticize government policies.  If you didn’t agree with the government, you weren’t a “patriot.”  A “patriot” is one who stands for the ideals the Republicans were founded on and seemed to have forgotten–not someone who turns a blind eye when the government begins to overstep its bounds in order to keep us “safe.”

If the Republicans want to understand why they lost this election, it isn’t hard to figure out.  They forgot who they were. Or as Ron Paul said in a debate in which he was laughed at and booed, “The Republican Party has lost its way.”  They forgot to promote the values, that as Obama said, “we all share.”

If they want to get back into power, they have to be smart enough to be Republicans again.  The beauty of this is that this time, many of the people they will turn to to run for office while espousing these ideals will actually believe in them after they are elected.  It won’t be about winning an election, it will be about Restoring our Republic.

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.  The Campaign for Liberty couldn’t be better poised to become the major force in the Republican Party than it is right now.  Just as Reagan ran on these ideals after a massive liberal was in office, there will be a new Reagan who emerges.  And the country will be ready for it.  This time around, the Republicans were just too stupid to listen to a man that was screaming it all along.  Instead, they had to hear the words from the Democratic President-elect.

Your Fellow American,

John Armstrong
