Facebook’s plans to sell my garbage

Excerpted from the article:

“For all its merits, Facebook is a double-edged sword. It is a platform for getting us to part with personal information with our friends and colleagues – in most cases people you haven’t heard from for years (and with possible good reason!) – and then share the very intimacies of your daily habits and thoughts that you deem as an acceptable level. On the other side, it a way of commercialising those opportunities for gain in a wholly assumed intrusive way, just by mere fact you have decided to use their service.

The company wants to ‘better use the data its users voluntarily offer up on their profiles’, as if voluntarily and human guinea pig could be intertwined in this context, where they are relying on their huge database of people’s demographics, relationships, likes and dislikes as the basis of being able to serve targeted advertising against – and lets face it, they are possibly the strongest website contender for knowing the most about any given user online.

They have within the last month filed a trademark of the term ‘SocialAds’, which is a pleasant term for a concept has been a recurring theme for some while now, and is why I derived the more apt phrase ‘snoop-and-serve‘ advertising that I have blogged about before, or as some have dubbed a ’stealth ad system‘. As a keen advocate of behavioural advertising myself, my beef is not related to targeting per se, but in the way you derive the means for delivery.” (end excerpt)

No Verichip Inside – How not to become your own worst enemy

Excerpted from the article:

“Where and when that can of coke was created, where it was transported to, how long it sat on the shelf, who bought it, when they drank it and where it is within your bin to be re-cycled… The product will speak to its RFID readers who in turn via the internet will signal advertising messages to be sent back to that consumer. All that needs to happen is to link you to the product. If an Oystercard or Barclaycard, which in essence is a backdoor national ID card to avoid mass consumer panic, hasn’t raised alarm bells, then the prospect of chipping every single person on the planet should chill your blood. Yes, I do mean putting a microchip inside your body.

RFIDThink about it. Whatever your interests are, whatever purchases you have made, whatever your consumption habits, whatever your travelling habits, whatever communication methods you use, it is all going to be ‘listened to’ and tracked without wires and ultimately signal an advertisement directly personal to you – no matter which digital device you are in front of at any specific time, anywhere in the world; your mobile phone, your PC/laptop, your television screen, your GPS screen in your car, or the digital billboard you just happen to be passing.

Am I saying this loud and clear?

This is not science fiction, it is marketing fact and just a matter of time.” (end excerpt)

Excerpt from “American Drug War” …BRASSCHECK TV/video

Before the “War on Terror” the Bush

family declared another war.

Bush Sr. got the ball rolling on that one.

Bush Sr. was Ronald Reagan’s “Dick Cheney.”

He was the real president while the senile, but highly charismatic actor and lifelong associate of gangsters Ronald Reagan occupied the White House.

It was called “The War on Drugs.”

And just like the “War on Terror,” it was (and still is) a multi-billion dollar enterprise fighting shadows.

Guess who brought cocaine into the US by the planeload during the 1980s?

Excerpt from “American Drug War”

George Bush Sr. has been involved in this since Day One and was the driving force behind Iran-Contra.

Gary Webb, who broke this story, was demoted by his newspaper, the San Jose Mercury, and driven out of journalism by his “colleagues.”

The Washington Post, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the San Francisco Examiner all ran multi-page stories personally discrediting him.

Webb later committed suicide by shooting himself in the head – twice.

Social Security Surplus…A big Welfare Check for federal government

From the years 1984 to 2002 the US government had collected 1.7 trillion more in social security taxes than it paid out in claims.  By 2006 this surplus had ballooned to 2.4 trillion in excess SS taxes.  This is 2.4 trillion in excess of all claims paid to widows, retirees, orphans and disability benefits.  And, it is this 2.4 trillion surplus that has Wall Street slobbering all over itself trying to come up with plans on how to siphon that money off of SS and into Wall Street markets.

Where did the surplus go?

Every administration since Lyndon Johnson, who made the SS trust surplus available to the general fund to finance the Viet Nam war, has used the SS fund to finance anything and everything.  The current president has used the SS surplus to finance the day to day operations of the federal government in lieu of the massive loss of tax revenues generated by the tax cuts to the obscenely wealthy.

The reason that administration economists insisted that the economy was growing was because Social Security surpluses were used to finance tax cuts for people who were so rich they didn’t need them.  On paper, and without admitting the theft of and misuse of funds, the economists reported a “growth” in revenues generated by cutting taxes to the rich. That growth was a direct result of re-designating the stolen funds as “tax revenues”.

What the Bush Republicans have done is to use Social Security taxes so the wealthy can enjoy big huge tax cuts.  More
