There is a new component to the Connecticut and Florida Drivers Licenses – the much touted “Gold Star” two-tiered program which is partially Federally Funded, but all Federally Mandated. Starting October 3rd, residents of Connecticut will be required to provide as many as 6 forms of Identification to get this specially marked State ID (PDF). (No that xerox you took of your face does not count!)
There is an opt out, but it comes with an increasingly steep price:
DMV Commissioner Melody A. Currey said that without the gold star travelers will likely face greater scrutiny at airports and when entering federal buildings. Currey said the DMV is rolling out the new program now because Connecticut is on a six-year license renewal cycle and everyone needs to have a new license before 2017, when the federal regulations go into effect.
“This is a federally mandated program to improve security,” Currey said. “We live next door to New York City and after what happened there I think we need to assure our residents that we are doing everything we can to properly identify people.”
I find this humorous. What type of additional scrutiny are we talking about here? Already passengers enjoy the “after dinner foreplay” without the obligatory 3 course cheap buffet to get into an airport, what’s next – a cavity search because we won’t wear carry the Federally Funded and Mandated yellow star?
This sounds very, very familiar. Real ID anyone? The Federal Government couldn’t bully enough citizens into the Real ID Act so now state-by-state this will be introduced? Come on, everyone else is doing it! You must not be Patriotic if you question the marking system we have developed!
Here is another little item bothering me from the article:
“We live next door to New York City and after what happened there I think we need to assure our residents that we are doing everything we can to properly identify people.”
Nobody needs to “assure” the residents that living near NYC is an issue. Oh No – ’cause the NYPD – they got themselves a plan or two.
Yesterday NYPD commissioner Kelly blasted all over the press that NYPD could “take out a plane” if needed. I’m thinking “Cool! Now we have militarized the Police in New York. With their honest and upright reputation, I’m bringing popcorn to the nightly news!” Alas, today we find out what those Billions of US Taxpayers dollars have gone for. A 2011 version of Barney Fife leaning out of a helicopter shouldering a .50 cal yelling “I can get’ em Andy! Swear – just a little closer!”.
So over there on the East Coast things seem to be piling up a bit. Something about getting “special patriotic papers” to fly on a plane that just might be in the sites of a .50 cal. What could possibly go wrong?
Hitler gave the Jews a gold star.
and history remembers what happened to them

Our government is just giving those of us in Connecticut another great reason to leave the state and get far from any place that shows up blue on a map.
It is scary what is going on and how fast we’re traveling to the NWO.

I disagree with the author. This is probably Connecticut’s doing. If it was DHS or TSA, it would entail something along the line of more crotch fondling locations or repeats and gay 3-ways. Here all that is being asked for is filler for otherwise unemployable typists to record hypothetical availability of child-support and alimony. Not much of a reason
If any terrorist shows up, he would be hustled through customs and TSA checks like the last ones by a certified terrorist district director who nobody wearing a uniform will have ever seen before.
Michael – There are many ex-pats who feel that way. I cannot be there yet, but I applaud your actions!
G. Street – Please forget the chip idea – with this currently being encouraged for “special people” to “help them”, I’m afraid some Legislator will take that idea and run!
t-bagg – Let’s say 5K people read PPJG per day. About 5% might have the “awake” mindset. We’d hope that the other 95% would take the time to follow the links and maybe just one more person will decide to live free.
J Rouch – Don’t we hear that everyday? Try to cash a check, open an account, pay a bill, drive a car, pay your taxes, register for school, get utility services – without the “appropriate” papers.
Donna – Hopefully enough individuals will do the same. As a personal choice – I understand. If Indiana should ever have this program I would not drive.
I live in Connecticut and will not be getting the gold star. I’m so strongly against this that I will give up my driver’s license before I will submit to it.
Soon, the scariest thing an American can ever hear will be, “Your papers are not in order! You vill have to come with me for questioning.”
The Jews got to wear stars too!
hmm, gold star ….. where have I seen that before???????
Why does everyone say “wake up” all the time? The people reading sites like these get it already. Go to the grocery store and tell people as they are walking to their cars to wake up. Pass out a flier about what they don’t know. Writing in forums like these is just preaching to the choir.
When I had to travel, the barcode on my driver’s license was scanned by TSA. I am sure it pulls up a history in a database. I had also bought my ticket weeks in advance so that TSA had adequate time to check my identity. Yet, none of this kept them from needing to pull me out of line and x-ray me.
One of the outrageous things about the security state is that they continue to demand less freedom from citizens. I’ve been quietly living my legal life, paying my taxes, crossing in the crosswalks, etc. for many decades now, and yet the State keeps taking away my rights, partly because they claim they want to protect the rights of anyone anywhere in the world who wants to come here. Somehow THOSE rights are special. Ours are not.
Why not just put a chip in all of us cattle so that the Nigerian shoe bomber can be walked around security and board without a passport?

uh hu, because that was the problem on 9/11. We couldn’t identify them. Ok.
Not to temp the poster who is going to “blow” if the word “secure” is mentioned, but I am celebrating my first anniversary of being completely outside the USSA security state. Having done computer modeling for years, and, after the events of 9-11 witnessing the “putsch” in the U.S., it was abundantly clear the best course of action was to abandon ship. There were those, I am sure, on the Titantic who had “hope” that the ship was, as advertised “unsinkable”. They never made it to shore to regret their opinions and actions. Like trying to fix an old broken down car, there comes a point of “diminishing returns” where it is more expensive to fix the old one that to simply buy a new one. That is, in a nutshell, what our computers (sadly) told us. The only thing worse than no hope, is false hope.
yellow star = nazi germany. They government is using “gold star” to make it sound like some sort of fancy credit card. Be sure to use yellow star whenever speaking of this program. It’s more accutrate.
Sorry, I meant PPJG.
The sheeple will take the rest of down with them. I’ve seen people smiling as they cheerfully allow themselves to be frisked at airports. Not a trace of indignity to be found anywhere.
In every sense, I agree with JJPG.
Hmmm
A true facist police state “your papers please” You don’t have the right papers!
take him away! This crap is already creating a multi tiered society. Where those connected and rich get the “right” papers. Those not in favor with the current regime in power get denied. Good grief people “homeland” security is the Gestapo dressed up in red white and blue. Wake up.
Shouldn’t the star have 6 points?
Either one. I am so tired of the clueless. If I hear one more person mewl about how “they” are just trying to keep us safe….I’ll blow chunks.
Which one? The Gold Star License or Barney Fife hanging out of a Helicopter in NYC waiting to shoot “someone” down?
Lynn, it is staggering to think of all the sheeple that will go along with this while buying the propaganda.
